Rappler Launches Online Survey Ahead of 2025 Philippine Elections: A Deep Dive into Potential Senatorial Candidates

Wazzup Pilipinas!?

Rapper is conducting an online survey related to the upcoming 2025 election through their app and among the questions is to choose among a list of names who are potential candidates for the Senatorial position and it includes current celebrities like DingDong Dantes, formerly popular celebrities like Philip Salvador, current personalities in media and government like Raffy Tulfo and Benhur Abalos., and other names of political personalities who have already tried running for the Senatorial position but have lost like Luke Espiritu, and even re-electionists who are again running for the Senate, plus political personalities that have been in the previous administrations of government.By the way, former Secretary of Justice and jailed Leila de Lima is also on their list of Senatoriables.

However, the list did not include Environmental advocate David D'Angelo who is supposedly one of my choices for Senator. What could be the possible opinions of our fellow Filipinos and of other nationalities from other countries who are closely monitoring our political landscape in the Philippines abut this?

As the Philippines gears up for the pivotal 2025 elections, a unique initiative has emerged from the vibrant world of hip-hop culture. Rappler is utilizing their platform to conduct an engaging online survey through their app, inviting Filipinos to weigh in on highly significant and critical issues and questions that could be related to the selection of potential candidates for the Senatorial position. This innovative approach not only reflects Rappler's influence but also highlights the significance of public opinion in shaping the nation's political landscape.

A Diverse List of Candidates

The survey features a diverse array of candidates, representing various sectors of Filipino society. Among the current celebrities included are the well-known and respected Dingdong Dantes, who has long been a staple in Philippine entertainment and popularly known as the husband of equally, if not more popular, Marian Rivera, his also celebrity wife. Joining him are figures from the media and government, such as the outspoken Ben Tulfo and the seasoned Benjamin Abalos Jr., both of whom have established their presence in the public eye through various means.

The list doesn't shy away from recognizing formerly popular celebrities like Philip Salvador, reminding voters of the rich history of public figures who have transitioned into politics. It also includes Luke Espiritu, a name familiar to many as a candidate who has previously run for the Senate but did not secure a seat, representing the persistent ambition of those who believe they can make a difference.

Adding to this mix are re-electionists who are making another bid for the Senate, alongside political personalities from past administrations like Bam Aquino, related kin of the Aquinos. The presence of such a wide array of candidates sparks an intriguing conversation about the evolving nature of Philippine politics and the relevance of these individuals in contemporary governance.

Voices from the Public

The survey invites opinions from everyday Filipinos, allowing them to express their preferences and concerns regarding potential candidates. This initiative raises essential questions about the political aspirations of the populace and the criteria by which they judge these candidates.

Filipinos are likely to consider factors such as the candidates' track records, public personas, and connections to their communities. Many may resonate with celebrities like Dingdong Dantes for their charisma and relatability, while others might lean toward established politicians like Benjamin Abalos for their experience in governance.

However, the omission of certain names, such as David D'Angelo—who has garnered support from various groups—raises questions about how the survey is framed and whether it reflects the complete spectrum of public sentiment. Are the names included a true reflection of the people's choices, or do they represent a curated selection designed to favor specific narratives?

International Perspectives

The political climate in the Philippines is not only of interest to Filipinos but also to observers from around the globe. With the growing interconnectivity of the world, international communities closely monitor the political developments in countries like the Philippines. The outcomes of the elections can have ripple effects, influencing foreign investment, diplomatic relations, and cultural exchanges.

Foreign nationals, particularly those from nations with established ties to the Philippines, may view this survey as a barometer of public sentiment. They could analyze which candidates resonate with voters and how these preferences might shape the future political landscape. Observers might also consider how the inclusion of celebrities in politics reflects broader trends in governance, such as the increasing blending of entertainment and politics in the modern age.

Conclusion

As the 2025 elections approach, Rappler's online survey serves as a fascinating case study in contemporary political engagement. By harnessing the power of technology and celebrity influence, this initiative encourages dialogue among Filipinos about their future leaders. The responses gathered could provide valuable insights into public sentiment, revealing not only preferences for candidates but also the values and priorities that resonate with the electorate.

As the survey unfolds, it will be intriguing to see how the public's choices reflect their hopes for the future of the Philippines. The diverse range of candidates—from beloved celebrities to seasoned politicians—speaks to the complex nature of Filipino politics, where aspiration and reality often intersect. Ultimately, this initiative could empower citizens, urging them to actively participate in the democratic process and shaping the nation's political narrative as the countdown to the elections begins.

My Health Condition: A Personal Update on My Medical Prescription and Tests

Wazzup Pilipinas!?

As many of you know, health is something we should never take for granted, especially when life gets busy. Recently, I received a prescription for several medications, which has made me take a closer look at my own health. My doctor has also advised me to undergo a series of lab tests to get a better understanding of my condition. I wanted to share this update with you, not just to keep you informed, but also to remind everyone of the importance of taking care of your health.

The Medications I'm Taking

Here’s what my doctor prescribed and why it’s important:

Perindopril, Indapamide, Amlodipine (Triplixam): This combination helps manage high blood pressure. Like many people my age, hypertension has become a concern, and these medications work to keep my blood pressure in check, reducing the risk of complications like heart failure or stroke.

Nebivolol (Nebilet): This is a beta-blocker that slows my heart rate and eases the strain on my heart, another way to manage hypertension and heart health.

Rosuvastatin + Ezetimibe (Rozur): These medications are for high cholesterol. Statins lower the amount of cholesterol my liver produces, while Ezetimibe reduces how much cholesterol my body absorbs. Both are key in preventing plaque buildup in my arteries, which could lead to heart attacks or strokes.

Aspirin 80 mg: I’m also taking a low dose of aspirin, which acts as a blood thinner to help prevent blood clots. This is especially important in reducing my risk for cardiovascular events.

The Lab Tests I Need

To ensure that we’re on the right track with my health, my doctor has recommended a comprehensive set of tests:

Fasting Blood Sugar (FBS) and Glycosylated Hemoglobin (HbA1c): These tests will check my blood sugar levels and see if diabetes or pre-diabetes might be a concern. Given that diabetes is closely linked to heart disease, it's important to monitor this aspect.

Lipid Profile: This will evaluate my cholesterol and triglyceride levels. If my cholesterol is too high, it could increase my risk of heart disease.

Uric Acid: This will check if I’m at risk for gout or kidney stones, both of which can be linked to high blood pressure and poor metabolic health.

Creatinine and SGPT (Serum Glutamate Pyruvate Transaminase): These tests will assess my kidney and liver function. Since I’m taking medications long-term, we need to make sure my liver and kidneys are handling them well.

Urinalysis: This simple test will help detect any potential issues with my kidneys or urinary system, or metabolic conditions like diabetes.

Complete Blood Count (CBC): This will give a general overview of my blood health, checking for signs of anemia or infection.

ECG and 2D Echo: These are heart tests to monitor how my heart is functioning. We want to ensure there’s no underlying heart disease or damage from high blood pressure.

X-ray and Ultrasound: These imaging tests will check for any abnormalities in my chest or abdomen, like issues with my heart, liver, or kidneys.

What This Could Mean for Me

Based on the medications and tests, it’s clear that I’m dealing with a few important health issues:

Hypertension (high blood pressure) is something we’re actively managing. If left unchecked, it could lead to heart failure, stroke, or other serious complications.

High cholesterol is another concern, which increases my risk for atherosclerosis (narrowing of the arteries) and cardiovascular disease.

There’s also the possibility that diabetes or pre-diabetes is on the horizon, which we’ll know more about after the blood sugar tests. Diabetes, as you know, is closely linked to heart disease.

Finally, the tests for my kidneys and liver will ensure that my organs are functioning properly, especially since I’m taking medications that need to be processed by both systems. These tests will give us a fuller picture of my overall health and guide us in making adjustments where necessary.

The Bigger Picture

This process has been a reminder for me of how important it is to take care of our health. It’s easy to get caught up in work and responsibilities, but without good health, we can’t do much of anything. For me, the goal is to address these issues head-on so that I can continue leading Wazzup Pilipinas and staying active in the things I’m passionate about.

I encourage everyone to be proactive about their health. If you haven’t had a checkup or routine tests recently, now might be the time. After all, it’s always better to be aware of what’s going on in your body and to take the necessary steps to stay well.

Thank you for all your support, and I’ll keep you posted as I go through this health journey!
