Lumagui: BIR strengthens partnership with Top Business Groups in an effort to improve Taxpayer Service; adds another 3 for a total of 12 business groups

Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) Commissioner Romeo D. Lumagui Jr. continues the BIR's productive relationship with its Multi-Sectoral Group through a Memorandum of Agreement signing held last September 10, 2024. The Multi-Sectoral Group represents the different industries under the private sector. Through the Multi-Sectoral Group, the private sector can voice out their concerns with current and proposed polices and regulations of the BIR. Regular dialogues and consultations with the private sector is in keeping with Commissioner’s Lumagui thrust for excellent taxpayer service.













"The BIR welcomes both the old and new members of our Multi-Sectoral Group. The retention of old members and the addition of new members show that our relationship with the private sector is a productive and fruitful one. The private sector is, and always will be, our partner in nation-building. Regular discourse and exchange of ideas between the BIR and representatives from the private sector will create a more stable taxation system in the Philippines" Commissioner Lumagui stated.

Returning members of the Multi-Sectoral Group include Philippine Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Tax Management Association of the Philippines, Management Association of the Philippines, Financial Executives Institute of the Philippines, Philippine Institute of Certified Public Accountants, Association of Certified Public Accountants in Public Practice, Association of CPAs in Commerce and Industry, Philippine Exporters Confederation, Inc., and Joint Foreign Chambers of the Philippines.

There are also new members of the Multi-Sectoral Group, specifically, Federation of Filipino-Chinese Chambers of Commerce and Industry, Inc., Makati Business Club, and Alliance of Tech Innovators for the Nation.

Lumagui: New BIR Web Portal reaches 10 Million Visitors

Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) Commissioner Romeo D. Lumagui Jr. announced that the new BIR web portal (www.bir.gov.ph), which was publicly launched during the agency's 120th Anniversary last August 1, 2024, has reached more than ten (10) million visitors. The new BIR web portal is a priority project of Commissioner Lumagui and is part of his Excellent Taxpayer Service and Digitalization programs.


"The new BIR web portal has reached more than 10 million visitors. We launched this publicly last August 1, 2024, the same date of our 120th Anniversary. This feat is a testament of our commitment to a more digitalized agency, with a focus towards taxpayer service. We invite our taxpayers to check our new web portal," Commissioner Lumagui stated.


During the 120th Anniversary of the BIR, several major programs were showcased. First, a new web portal was publicly launched. Second, the BIR has achieved 100% nationwide ISO certification of its frontline services, the first government agency to do so. Third, a new BIR logo and slogan was shown to the public, marking its "Bagong BIR sa Bagong Pilipinas" campaign towards a more professional and taxpayer-oriented agency. Fourth, the BIR has been conferred with the Civil Service Commission PRIME-HRM Maturity Level II Accreditation, this empowers the BIR to approve/take final action on appointments, thereby improving its hiring speed.

A grand unveiling of innovation, culture, and culinary excellence is happening in Cebu City, Worldbex Services International (WSI) returns to Cebu City to bring its premier events experience to Central Visayas! CEFBEX 2024 on the other hand, will focus on the food industry in the Philippines, showcasing country’s delicious and unique side of culinary goodness with its unique and flavorful dishes. Visitors may also choose to watch the different competitions and shows related to Cebu’s culinary industry. Finally, CAS 2024 will showcase Cebu's automotive industry and its passion and drive to innovate. There are also new activities that will debut in our Cebu events, such as PHILBEX Likha, a brand-new exhibit that showcases locally-made handcrafted furniture, weaving, and pottery!
