Wazzup Pilipinas!?
In its bid to reassess, realign, and refocus its learner-related initiatives to be more responsive to learners' needs, the Department of Education (DepEd) will conduct the Learners' Convergence (LearnCon) PH 2023 from July 29 to August 3 in Marikina City.
The six-day summit will serve as a launching pad for the services provided by the agency’s Operations strand, in line with the Department’s MATATAG Agenda, particularly its commitment to take good care of learners through promoting learner well-being, inclusive education, and a positive learning environment.
With the theme “SaMakabata: Sentro ng Karunungan, Huwaran ng Kagalingan,” the learner engagement will act as an avenue to dialogue, share, and collaborate ideas, insights, lessons learned, and best practices in learners’ involvement in public and civic affairs.
In the Convergence, thematic learning sessions will transpire to offer meaningful opportunities for learners to learn about their role in nation-building and provide a safe space where they can build a network of like-minded individuals interested in leadership, governance, and civic engagement; health and well-being; gender and social inclusion; climate action, environmental protection, and agriculture; innovation, entrepreneurship, and future readiness; and culture, arts, and peace, among others.
Moreover, simultaneous sessions will be conducted by concerned offices of the DepEd Central Office to discuss capacity building program for learners, disaster preparedness, advocacy campaigns for health, the development of an action plan on the promotion of sports club in public schools, and the Learners’ Rights Congress.
The conference, which will be held simultaneously with the 2023 Palarong Pambansa, will converge select high school learners, youth leaders and formators, and education stakeholders from the 228 schools division offices (SDO) from 17 regions in the country.
LearnCon participants will likewise serve as spectators and supporters of their respective regions at the grand opening of the Palarong Pambansa.
