Pinoy Otaku Festival (POF) is making a comeback this 2023 and they are bringing environmental advocacy to pop culture events through
Pinoy Otaku Festival (POF) 2023: Shizen on May 19-21, 2023 at the Robinsons Novaliches Trade Hall in Novaliches, Quezon City. The theme of the event focuses on nature which is the meaning of the Japanese word, "Shizen."
Since the inception of POF in 2013, it has always tried to be an event for a cause and contribute to positivity and good vibes within the Japanese pop culture community. To be true to its concept they are bringing competitions such as LOWCOST COSPLAY in which contestants are encouraged to use recycled materials in creating their costumes.
There are also booths that are promoting environmental advocacy like
ADA STRAWS which offers an eco-friendly solution to replace plastic straws and
BAYANIHAN PARA SA KALIKASAN. MOVEMENT, a socio-civic organization that promotes activities like reforestation, leadership training, environmental camps, and more. Plus, during the Otaku Choice Awards 2023, there will be a tribute to anime music focused on the environment.
