FDCP to Hold 5th International Film Industry Conference Online on Philippine Film Industry Month

Wazzup Pilipinas!?

As September closes in, the Film Development Council of the Philippines (FDCP) elevates its annual Film Industry Conference to International Film Industry Conference (IFIC) Online from September 16 to 19, with a month-long celebration and events lined up for the first celebration of Philippine Film Industry Month.

The 5th edition of the IFIC will continue to provide comprehensive knowledge to young filmmakers and enthusiasts as they bring together local and international experts in the industry as speakers and panelists in the series of public sessions and masterclasses.

The IFIC shifted online last year and had over 2,000 attendees throughout the event. This year, there will be free public sessions and masterclasses open to the public, both local and international.

“The success of last year’s Film Industry Conference indicates that even amidst the pandemic and the shift to online platforms, the passion to learn more about the different aspects of cinema is still present. Through its 5th edition, the International Film Industry Conference Online, we want to support aspiring and budding filmmakers from the Philippines and the rest of the world by providing lessons that would help them grow and develop in their filmmaking journey,” said FDCP Chairperson and CEO Liza DiƱo.

Launched in 2017, IFIC creates a platform for aspiring Filipino filmmakers and film enthusiasts to further explore opportunities, challenges, and the new norms in the film industry during the global pandemic.

The IFIC will run in September, the declared Philippine Film Industry Month by President Rodrigo Duterte in Proclamation No. 1085, Series of 2021, alongside the other FDCP-organized programs, projects, and activities for the annual celebration.

DOST-SEI, Gokongwei Brothers Foundation link up for youth innovation plum

Wazzup Pilipinas!?

The imake.wemake: create. innovate. collaborate. competition had hailed nine—soon to be 12—Youth Innovation Prize (YIP) Awardees out of around 200 promising idea pitches since 2016. But for folks at the Department of Science and Technology – Science Education Institute (DOST-SEI), the competition is still bound to get bigger and better.

That is because of the entry of Gokongwei Brothers Foundation (GBF) as partner for the youth competition, which DOST-SEI describes as a “rightful collaboration” given the two parties’ common goals.

The GBF, which is under the Filipino conglomerate JG Summit Holdings, Inc., works toward the advancement of Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) education, very much like DOST-SEI, the S&T human resources development arm of the government.

In a virtual Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) signing, GBF Executive Director Grace Colet expressed excitement in the partnership with how “there’s so much shared” in what both parties want to achieve.

“One of the unique and powerful statements of our Foundation is our sole focus on one advocacy, which is education, particularly STEM education. We are putting all stakes in education with the firm conviction that this is the best way for us to develop as a nation,” said Colet.

She added that GBF’s purpose is to prepare Filipino learners to be digitally-adept workers, critical thinkers, and innovative problem-solvers who can contribute to the growth of their communities.

“When we learned about the goals of the competition, it became evident to us how there was so much shared in what we want to achieve. Knowing these goals, the nationwide reach of this competition, and the rigorous selection undertaken to choose the final winners, it is indeed a privilege that with this partnership, we have the honor to select the 2021 GBF Young Scientist Awardees (YSA) from them,” the Executive Director said.

With the partnership, the Foundation will select three (3) GBF Young Scientist Awardees from the finalists of the ongoing 4th imake.wemake competition. The Awardees will receive conditional scholarship offers amounting to Php 85,000 per academic year courtesy of GBF. This is on top of the three (3) YIP Awards and the associated Php 200,000 cash prize that DOST-SEI will bestow to the teams with the best innovations.

“We aim to fully support our young Scientists’ passion for applied scientific research and innovation, and their drive to serve our communities through a college scholarship grant for their chosen STEM courses. We will also be providing mentoring, training, and other immersion opportunities to enhance and elevate their STEM expertise with the help of our academic partners and business unit partners,” bared Colet.

DOST-SEI Director, Dr. Josette Biyo, in turn thanked GBF for the generous support to the project.

“We are very happy of GBF’s desire to partner with us because of our shared vision of improving Filipino lives through STEM. We look forward to more collaborations not just with imake.wemake project but in our many other line-up of programs. We highly appreciate your help,” said Biyo.

The 4th imake.wemake is set to conduct the Final Project Presentations on Aug. 25-26, and the Awarding Ceremony on Aug. 27 all through a virtual event.

Madam Inutz withdraws her Star Image contract

Wazzup Pilipinas!?

After gaining online fame for her live selling videos, Madam Inutz — or Daisy Cabantog Lopez in real life —  signed a contract with a talent management agency called Star Image but then withdraws also.

Ayon sa sikat na online seller, ito ay matapos niyang kausapin ang pamilya at dahil na rin sa natatanggap na comments mula sa fans.

Queen things. Good thing she did, obvious lang na makikisalok si agency habang trending pa siya.

Madam Inutz made the right decision na mag back out sa Star Image coz she deserves better.

Big brain move coz she can fly high being solo. No one needs a problematic agency.

Madam Inutz instantly move out in Star Image Artist Management. Buti nalang trial card lang for 2 days ang contract ni Mamam Inutz haha lols right decision. Lol!

Buknoy and Gabo are no longer part of their management haha revamp daw sila for the better.

GRABE YUNG ORGANIC REACH NI MADAM INUTZ!!!!! 1 MILLION IN LESS THAN AN HOUR???? Hope she’ll be able to get informed/educated on how to convert these monetarily.  Sobrang magiging big help to especially for to support her Mom and family.

Hindi man siya naka benta sa mga tumambay lang sa live selling Niya pero pinasikat naman nila siya.

Pero mas marami ka ring pinasaya,.

Don't judge Madam Inutz from the way she talks, She's just doing her job as a daughter and to support her family. She's one of a kind and deserves a crown.

My wife bursted into laughter when I said out of nowhere “oh di bhaaahh” ala Madam Inutz. She is a mood lifter!

I can listen to Madam Inutz cursing all day.

Whenever I watch Madam Inutz' Facebook videos, I think of Ethel Booba minus the explicit words.

OMG! The real deal Ethel Booba!

Para silang pinagbiyak na bunga.

I remember her naman for saying "pasaway" lalo na nung napapanood ko siya sa Extra Challenge (damn, nahahalata yung age ko if naaalala ko pa yan)

Madam Inutz is more witty than Ethel Booba who is a fake comedienne. Remember when she pretended she owns a witty twitter account that wasn't hers. Ethel Booba is also a DDS.

God bless her good heart! My respect is with her. Sana marami pa tumulong sa kanya because she really deserves it. Just keep walking by faith. Praying for her mom's continuous healing.

You really have to find your niche if you wanna be a social media star..Dapat unique ka and may xfactor talaga.. Madam Inutz is most probably doing a pretty great job... Go go mga inutil!

Now that Madam Inutz withdrawn from her contract let's support her and mag mine tayo! We know na kaya niya sumikat pa on her own!

Totoo na kahit gaano kahirap talagang lahat gagawin natin para sa ating pamilya.

"Na-overwhelm lang ako, wala tayong alam sa showbiz."

Madam Inutz pahingi naman po kami viewers HAHAHAHAHA char!

But then......

Jam Magno?! Same management ng kay Madam Inutz?? Oh no!!!
