Quezon City Mayor Ma. Josefina “Joy” Belmonte will lead the flag raising and wreath-laying ceremonies at the EDSA People Power Monument, Quezon City on 25 February 2021, 8:00 a.m. in commemoration of the 35th anniversary of the 1986 EDSA People Power Revolution with the theme, “EDSA 2021: Kapayapaan, Paghilom, Pagbangon.”
The commemorative program is led by the National Historical Commission of the Philippines (NHCP), in coordination with the EDSA People Power Commission (EPPC), Spirit of EDSA Foundation (SOEF) and other national and local government agencies.
NHCP and EPPC Chairman Rene R. Escalante, and SOEF President and EPPC Commissioner Christopher Carrion will join Mayor Belmonte in the program. Representatives from August Twenty One Movement (ATOM), Chino Roces Foundation, Human Rights Violations Victims’ Memorial Commission (HRVVMC), other national government and non-government agencies will also grace the simple event which will have minimal attendees, adhering to the prescribed health standards/guidelines of the Inter-Agency Task Force on Emerging Infectious Diseases (IATF-EID).
A holy mass in celebration of the event will be held online at the Shrine of Mary, Queen of Peace, EDSA Shrine at 9:00 a.m.
