Wazzup Pilipinas!
Philippine National Police (PNP) chief Gen. Debold Sinas said probers have “solved” the rape-slay of a flight attendant who was found dead at a hotel in Makati City on New Year's Eve with the identification of 12 suspects, three of whom are in police custody.
"The rape-slay of Christine Angelica Dacera is solved with the arrest and indictment of three suspects,” Sinas said in a statement.
Sinas said John Pascual Dela Serna III, 27; Rommel Daluro Galido, 29; and John Paul Reyes Halili, 25, were charged for the crime of rape with homicide during inquest proceedings at the Makati City Prosecutor’s Office.
The other nine suspects remain at large.
Sinas also threatens to "hunt down" suspects at-large in the killing of flight attendant Christine Dacera within 72 hours even though they still have no arrest warrant.
The audacity of Sinas to say na “solved” na yung case? Without evidence and witnesses? Sinas, you never fail to disappoint us.
Ang bilis naman. Galing kay Sinas? How was the examination done? What were the findings? What was the chronology of the events leading to the demise?
Sinas declared "solved" na ang case immediately... But to the case of the Gregorios shot by a police officer, he still wants the minor who got the video to testify "for stonger evidence" kuno.
With a lot of questions left unanswered, no Chief Sinas, this case is far from “solved.”
‘Wag ninyo namang gamitin ito. Demanding justice means knowing the TRUTH.
Sinas probably wanted to make this case na pabango ng name ng PNP after the tragic death of Sonya and her son. Siyempre sirang sira ang PNP, kaya gagamitin n'ya ang case na 'to para magpaka-hero which in fact, nakakasuka s'ya at ang ways n'ya. So disappointing.
The fact na sinabi niyang "case closed" na raw kahit ongoing pa ang investigation at di pa nahuhuli ang ibang suspects speaks volume talaga. Pabida masyado without any disregard na sa due process.
I'd rather wait it out and hear the other side first and the results of the autopsy.
Debold Sinas sounding like in a rush to close the case sounds dubious.
Let the truth and real justice be served.
We believe that police have the authority to investigate properly. Kaso ngayon anong authority pinapakita nila? Decide the end without the real context. Kung rape yan, prove it. Kung hindi, prove it. Di pwedeng magdecide based on emotions and simple investigation.
I hope it’s clear as day that we all demand justice for Christine Dacera, and real justice that is based on facts and truth.
Before we jump to conclusion! The suspects are still innocent until proven guilty. Also it will not serve justice to the victim if those suspect are innocent and get incarcerated in the process due to Siñas pronouncement that the case is closed.
Declaring one case “solved” will never save PNP’s face. If you want the people’s trust back, EARN IT. The PNP’s integrity is so tainted due to numerous abuses and irregularities again and again. That made them hard to earn respect back even if some of their men perform up to par.
I'm not defending the men, but unfortunate accidents do happen.
PNP will never earn my trust as long as Sinas and the likes are still there.
Better po magresign si Sinas and turn himself in sa lahat ng EJK at kung ano pang mga crime na involved siya na ginawa for his poong demonyo sa Malacañang. But that is just wishful thinking. He won't incriminate himself. He will take the truth to his grave since their likes do not believe in heaven or hell. They are not afraid of judgement day.
Solved na nga raw kapag naaresto na mga suspects. No wonder maraming aresto pero pagdating sa korte dismiss ang kaso. Walang tiyaga sa pagbuild up ng solid case!
Involved parties should demand that the autopsy be done by an independent third party or by the NBI instead of PNP given that Police Chief Sinas already declared prematurely that the case is "solved".
These are gays celebrating with a girl friend. Don’t get me wrong, hindi ko pinag tatanggol yung sexualidad nila. Pero may motive and evidence ba? Was she really raped? If the autopsy reports shows na rape nga, by all means & to the full extent if law, parusahan sila!
I mean, they must rot in jail if there was really a foul play. The girl was just celebrating a new year for God’s sake. But looking how incompetent our police and the justice system are, nakakasuka.
Also, don’t use Christine Dacera’s case as an avenue to push for Death Penalty. You’re not gonna find justice for her by putting other innocent lives at stake knowing how flawed the Philippine justice system is.
Be angry & grieve. But let’s demand justice with proper due process.
It bothers me how easy it is for ppl to throw Death Penalty around without considering its implications.
We’ll only end up breeding a cycle of collateral damage, never finding justice for any of the victims.
Also, as journalists it is our responsibility to scrutinize every little detail and to challenge claims when we see it.
Are we really taking the word of the PNP (especially Sinas) for this tragedy? This is not the redemption arc they think they have. Autopsy results and witness statements should be made known.
Hindi porke naglabas ng statement, ipa-parrot na natin ng basta basta. Nasaan ang journalistic pursuit doon?
Sinas appears to solve cases in the same manner that red/drug-tagged suspects are declared guilty and subject to execution. No facts, No forensics. No proof. Just strength of position, personal judgment, and impunity.
It's beyond unethical. Cruel, evil come to mind.
We shouldn't trust the PNP to conduct a credible investigation on anything when they’re systematically involved in extrajudicial killings and evidence planting. To achieve justice and accountability is to demand an independent investigation for Christine Dacera.
If only we could unequivocably rely on PNP, then, we wouldn't be all riled up over Christine Dacera's case.
Unfortunately, PNP as an institution of law enforcement, has a pervasive pattern of being the real perpetrators of crimes against the people they ought to protect & serve.
