A military official goes after celebrities he deems are left leaning. Imputes Angel Locsin of leftist connection, cautions Liza Soberano and Catriona Gray about aligning with the left and warns Soberano she might end up dead.
Again, the armed forces hit another record low through NTF-ELCAC Spokesman Lt. Gen. Antonio Parlade Jr's subtle death threat statement against Angel Locsin, Catriona Gray, and Liza Soberano.
Parlade said that if Liza Soberano continued to support Gabriela (where Dovetail spoke in their forum), she would die like activist Josephine "Jo" Lapira, the 22-year-old student from UP Manila who was killed in a clash between government troops and suspected members of NPA in Batangas.
Jo was unarmed when she was killed in an apparent "ambush" by the AFP. It is not only murder but a war-crime. The AFP is threatening these women with murder and war-crime.
"The choice is yours Liza. And so with you Catriona. Don't follow the path Ka Ella Colmenares (Locsin) took in the underground and NPA Quezon. I am sure Angel Locsin and Neri Colmenares will not tell you this."
They also red-tagged Ella Colmenares (Angel Locsin's sister).
Presidential Spokesman Harry Roque defended the dire warning of Parlade perceived by people as threatening and a form of red-tagging.
Roque says Parlade may just be warning Liza Soberano and Catriona Gray against being taken advantage of by communist groups.
Roque says Malacañang has no problem with women's rights advocacies but says they should be careful not to be used by 'communist' groups.
There's nothing wrong with using your influence and platform to speak out and advocate women's, or any other rights we have as human beings.
Delusional macho-fascists in the military can't comprehend the idea of women asserting and openly advocating women's rights.... which is why they are so threatened.
After all, sexual violence is part and parcel of military violence.
Several members of the AFP have peddled this narrative. FYI AFP, your mandate is to protect the citizens, not threaten. Stop red-tagging us. Sending subtle death threats is nonsensical.
Witnessing celebs viciously being red-tagged by the same institutions perpetuating the sex slave narrative, all because they spoke out for women’s rights. What more for common people like us. The media will not even give us a spot in their newsbits because we're not popular to be newsworthy.
The brazen red-tagging of well-known personalities by the AFP/PNP just shows that they have no qualms in their quest to silence dissent.
Men like Roque and Parlade and women in government like Pialago and their sycophants think that women like Liza Soberano, Catriona Gray, Angel Lock-in, Reina Mae Nasino, Jo Lapira and many others are so stupid that they wouldn’t know the causes that they advocate. Geez, talk about dumbing down women in the 21st century!
The narrow mindedness of these officials is mind boggling!
There's really no rock bottom for these people.
Anyone and everyone easily becomes their target. Why are we allowing this?
"How come these macho-fascists have the audacity to mansplain strong women and lecture them on what to do?" Gabriela Women's Party said of the NTF-ELCAC, which has, on more than one occasion, been caught spreading disinformation.
Gabriela Rep. Arlene Brosas: “Her courage to speak out against gender-based violence amid the intensifying culture of impunity should be admired rather than silenced and criticized."
I'm for women standing up for women. Let macho-fascists shrivel to the size of their raisin balls (or most probably only a booger) before strong, empowered women.
Whether you’re a Liza Soberano or a Maria dela Cruz, you have a right to express your thoughts, your dissent, your passions, free from intimidation from government. It is laudable though that personalities promote social causes, including women and girls’ rights, that they believe in.
It is a pity that those in power choose to spread lies and in the process belittle the capacity of these artists to think for themselves.
This flimsy basis of Parlade to accuse Liza Soberano applies to all of us. Parlade is saying that associating with these groups, even when they are not rebel or militant, will lead to death. And if not, there's the anti-terror law to send you to jail.
"General Parlade mansplaining to Liza Soberano how to properly think and act as a young independent woman is proof that Gabriela and what they and Liza fight for are correct.
Liza Soberano or any girl or woman should not be told by any general how to think, what to think, who to talk to and what social issue to take on. Girls and women could think for themselves.
General Parlade’s claim that people turn into activists or revolutionaries only because of deception reflects more about his IQ and EQ. People have studied, analyzed and fought oppression and exploitation throughout history. Unsurprising that Duterte promoted a low IQ/EQ general.
Parlade’s intrigue does not negate or erase the legit concerns of Gabriela and Liza Soberano. In fact, Parlade is a walking audio-visual example of sexism, threats, brutality and other problems of girls and women."
What's stupid with Parlade red-tagging Angel, Catriona, and Liza as part of the NPA is that he's only making the people question if the NPA really are "bad".
These women have done relief work, became images of women power, and so on.
Does that mean the NPA are like those, too? Maybe the real terrorists are the military after all.
