Team Lakay Coach Mark Sangiao Says Passion Will Dictate Whether Eduard Folayang is Done or Not

Wazzup Pilipinas!

Team Lakay head coach and Philippine martial arts pioneer Mark “The Machine” Sangiao has his work cut out for him over the next few weeks. Several of his star athletes are preparing for their respective returns to action, since the Covid-19 pandemic changed the world.

2-time former ONE Lightweight World Champion Eduard “Landslide” Folayang, perhaps Sangiao’s most prized pupil, is up to bat first, and will see action next week.

Folayang takes on Australia’s Antonio “The Spartan” Caruso at ONE: INSIDE THE MATRIX, which broadcasts live from the Singapore Indoor Stadium in Singapore on Friday, 30 October.

Team Lakay are already on their way to Singapore as of this writing, and will soon get acclimated to the ‘Singapore Bubble’ ONE Championship established with the Singapore Government to deal with Covid-19 complications.

Sangiao believes this is a very important fight for Folayang, and one he is determined to win in order to break the Top 5 in his division.

“For us at Team Lakay, every fight, no matter how minor or major it is, it’s very important. This fight in particular is very significant for Eduard, as the result will dictate if he can get back in the list of top lightweight contenders,” said Sangiao.

“During the lockdowns here in Baguio City, we all trained in our respective homes. We only just returned to the gym two months ago, strictly adhering to Covid protocols. It was great for our athletes because they could spar with each other. Right now, we’re working double time, focusing on our game plans and strategies, especially for Eduard.”

In Caruso, Folayang faces a multiple-time Brazilian Jiu Jitsu champion, who has trained under the legendary Henri Hooft with a handful of top tier ONE athletes including ONE World Champions Aung La N Sang and Martin Nguyen.

A resounding victory over Caruso is necessary, and Sangiao says they’ve already crafted the right game plan to produce a solid win.

“We’ve studied Antonio Caruso’s previous fights and we’ve already come up with a good game plan, which will hopefully work in our favor,” said Sangiao.

After dropping three of his last four, however, Folayang is looking to prove he still has what it takes to compete among the best. Many fans and experts say the end may be near for Folayang, and that the veteran should contemplate retirement, especially if he loses against Caruso.

For Sangiao, the most important thing is where Folayang’s heart is. If Folayang is still dedicated to reaching his dreams and accomplishing his goals, if his heart is still in it, Sangiao believes “Landslide” can still do some damage in the division.

“Eduard is a very talented fighter, no doubt. He has all the skills and tools to succeed on the championship level. And he has a very difficult style to deal with. As long as I can see Eduard being passionate and working hard for his career, I believe he can still get to the highest places in MMA,” said Sangiao.

“I think the end is there for every fighter. No one can fight forever. It’s about listening to your body, and paying attention to your mindset. This fight will answer a lot of questions about Eduard, win or lose. But honestly, we’ve never even discussed his retirement. He still wants to achieve a lot of things in this sport.”

ONE Championship returns on Friday, 30 October with ONE: INSIDE THE MATRIX, broadcast live from the Singapore Indoor Stadium in Singapore. The blockbuster features four World Title bouts for a total of six compelling martial arts contests.

In the main event, reigning ONE Middleweight and Light Heavyweight World Champion “The Burmese Python” Aung La N Sang of Myanmar defends his middleweight title against top contender Reinier “The Dutch Knight” de Ridder of The Netherlands.

Three-way partnership for renewable energy hub in Mindanao

Wazzup Pilipinas!

In an effort to identify and promote renewable energy solutions for poverty alleviation in Mindanao, the Ramon Magsaysay Award Foundation (RMAF), through the Ramon Magsaysay Transformative Leadership Institute, SELCO Foundation and the Peace and Equity Foundation inked a memorandum of understanding on 01 October 2020 to work together in creating a coordination hub in Mindanao that will help push for the shift towards renewable energy in the region.

According to PEF Executive Director Roberto Calingo, the Mindanao Renewable Energy Advocacy and Coordination Hub (Mindanao REACH) project is a product of almost a decade of partnership among the three organizations when they started the promotion of the use of renewable energy in the country.

“We want to affirm our institutional commitment to share knowledge, technology and innovation in advancing the work of ensuring that renewable energy players on the ground have the means and concrete options to improve themselves by creating an ecosystem and customized solutions for poverty alleviation,” he said.

With a grant of five million pesos from the European Climate Foundation, the project will also open opportunities to support livelihood development, education, and health programs.

SELCO Foundation was represented by its CEO, Dr. Harish Hande, also a Ramon Magsaysay Awardee. RMAF was represented by Emily Abrera, its current president.

Is Kris Aquino the Right Choice as Endorser for Shopee?

Wazzup Pilipinas!

"Shopee, after choosing Kris Aquino as its brand ambassador, unwittingly endorsed Lazada." - Thinking Pinoy

Shopee, claiming to be the leading e-commerce platform in Southeast Asia and Taiwan (just second to Lazada), welcomed Philippines’ ‘Queen of All Media’ Kris Aquino as the new Brand Ambassador for the 11.11 – 12.12 Big Christmas Sale...but that could mean the end of them.... at least from the DDS community.

It's a 'rare second chance in a lifetime:' Kris Aquino says she cried after getting one-year contract with Shopee. That's because she no longer has a career. TV5 turned her down and noone else is getting her as an endorser.

Mag uninstall/deactivate daw ng Shopee app ang mga DDS kasi si Kris Aquino ang bagong endorser. Go lang. Me and many others did the same when Manny Pacquiao was chosen as the endorser. Until now, I’m not using it.

Good morning to @krisaquino214 and Kris Aquino only.

Kris: Have you always been single?

Contestant: So far, yes..

Kris: How young are you?

Contestant: 33

Kris: Ah ok, that's the age of Jesus when he died.

And I'm DEAD. Iba siya talaga.

Seriously, I may not like her as a person but she works as a comedian. The tactless and brutal sister of Noynoy and daughter of Cory and Ninoy, cousin of Bam and mother of Bimby and Josh is the mother that's pa-sosyal since she has the money, but not so bright like the joke about blondes being beautiful but dumb. But don't get me wrong, she's highly intelligent but just lacks being polite and sensible.

She's the typical lady who's going to mess things up but is funny as a laughing stock that you'll never get angry with her unless you're at the receiving end. You're safe as a spectator but in trouble if she has her eyes on you....

People do have negative stories about her

However, people do have negative stories about her...

https://m.facebook.com/story.php?story_fbid=742495072440605&id=100000403568356

But it's her. That's not what makes her .... Hhhmmm.... appealing, but how good she is in projecting a fake persona. She will look nice infront of the camera and the media and bloggers, but she's so arrogant and rude in real life.

I think the only people Kris was nice too was her kids, her family and relatives, media and bloggers/vloggers, her fellow celebrities, directors and producers, sponsors and her fans club...which are still a lot. But definitely when she's all alone or in the company of her staff, she's not that nice as seen on national TV,

But most people don't really mind since she hardly hangs around and stay to mingle or chat with others.

So as a comedic endorser, she's going to be iconic. Does it matter if she's faking it? It doesn't for the fans since she's what we call a novelty...not only because she was related to the two former President of the Philippines and the acknowledged hero that got killed causing the overthrow of a dictator Marcos and family, but also because she's Kristeta, the shrewd left by former husband James Yap, the father of Bimby... as well as other men including Philip Salvador, the father of Josh.

Kris' story is both laughable and pitiful. She represents a past that is still trying to be relevant because people cannot put her animated life at the back of their minds. She will remain to be someone we can't stop laughing at because of her Prima Donna attitude, and lifestyle to boot, that needs some spanking from beyond the realms of reality.

The DDS can't praise her or any of her relatives because the current President is more inclined to ally with their past conflicts, and so wondering why until now they've not pushed to find out who killed her father.

With all the money and connection they had access to, there was never any news updates on any effort to find the killer of Benigno "Ninoy" Aquino.

By the way, Kris Aquino revealed a possibility of appearing in the 'Crazy Rich Asians' sequel. Though she had a cameo on the movie, it was forgettable since the scene can be omitted and the movie will still be a success.

If Kris was not affluent and had no connection to high society and media people, she would have been irrelevant by now.

But without any doubt, she's still effective to call your attention because you can't really make up your mind if you'll love her or hate her for what she is.

She's not famous, she's infamous!
