Is the Rainy Season Ideal for Container Gardening?

Wazzup Pilipinas!

Since it's raining, hold na lang muna sa container gardening of fruits and veggies. The rainy season is perfect for some plants, but not for others that could drown or root rot from overwatering due to the frequent rains. I think tomatoes do not want overwatering...and my hydroponics setup will just get rainwater mixed with the nutrient solution. Also, it's still a pandemic so tipid mode. All I've bought from my gardening hobby are a few sacks of soil, vermicasts, vermicomposts, and the single big pot I used for the money tree.

Ang napabunga ko pa lang ay ampalaya, okra at munggo, the rest puro pakinabang sa leaves o talbos like kangkong, kamote, malunggay, yung ampalaya uli syempre, sili na puro dahon pa lang din .....at mga bean plants na namunga na rin pala, gumagapang sobra-sobra kasi kaya pinutulan ko na dahil masyadong invasive...umabot na hanggang kisame...and of course I won't forget my pechay harvest a few weeks ago...May mustasa rin pero kaunti lang grew successfully.

Yung mga kamatis at talong ay mga lumaki but they did not give me fruits. I have new seedling batches growing so hopefully maka harvest na ng fruits.

Onion leaks from kitchen scrap regrows for only twice max only, then they die.

There are about five turmeric seedlings growing fast. I also planted two gingers a few days ago and they've rooted and growing already, and onions  (red and white) just earlier today.

Then mga fruit seedlings like mango (5 na yata sila), avocado (mga 4 na ang may sprout with leaves, the others are still seeds), papaya (ang dami ko nito, akala ko kasi hindi tumubo kaya ginamit ko yung soil na pinagtamnan ko kaya kung saan-saan tuloy may papaya seedlings), sampaloc (namatay yung albino), and camachile (nag-iisa..coz I didn't plant this, ligaw na seeds from birds siguro). Out of 6 mulberry cuttings I planted, only two survived but I think only one will live. Both dragonfruit cuttings lived and growing. We all know it takes years for them to grow and see the output of these fruit trees.

May mga tumutubo na rin na seedlings ng calamansi sharing the space in some pots, I transfer o i-replant ko to a separate pot when they grow bigger.

The alugbati are just a few days old but mahaba na yung vines...I trimmed some so they will sprout new branches.

Yung oregano at aloe vera sobrang healthy na..I would need to propagate them soon...need pots and soil, and space to put them.

Not successful with upo. Their growth will be stunted, leaves would eventually wither, and then die after around a month. I still have one still alive but it's not healthy. Maybe they need more soil and bigger pot size.

May other plants pa ko that are still unidentified since they are still young.

Is It Safe to Touch Worms With Your Bare Hands?

Wazzup Pilipinas!

No, that's not my hand, and I haven't tried touching a worm yet.

There are lots of worms in my container garden. Especially under the container pots when I lift to reposition them due to cleaning or taking them out of the rain. Or when I replant a plant to a bigger pot, the soil from the previous pot would have some worms.

One time I found one or two wriggling their way towards a certain direction.

I would pick them up with a barbecue stick, the slimmer sticks and not the ones used for banana cues coz it's harder being thicker, and put them in our biggest recycled plastic container that was formerly used for laundry. Right now only our second amapalya is planted in it.

Are we having worms because of the vermicasts mixed with the garden soil, carbonized rice hulls and coco peat?

According to an article:

"Earthworms and red wriggler worms are perfectly safe to hold bare-handed, though it’s probably prudent to wash your hands before eating your next meal."

However, another article says:

"“Pathogens that we already know can be carried by worms include E. coli O157 and salmonella. These bacteria can cause severe gastrointestinal infections in humans and are commonly found in soil."

What could be beneficial is mostly for the plants. An article says:

"They improve soil structure, water movement, nutrient cycling and plant growth. ... They are not the only indicators of healthy soil systems, but their presence is usually an indicator of a healthy system."

And of course, the vermicasts are their shit that are very good for plants.

"Pabagalin muna natin ang ikot ng mundo
Ako'y sasayaw sa himig mo, atin ang gabi na 'to
Pahintuin mga kamay ng oras sa relo
Takasan natin ang gulo, lilipad papalayo" - Emman Nimedez, Teka Lang

YouTube content creator Emman Nimedez passed away early Sunday morning after a battle with cancer, his girlfriend confirmed.

"Our beloved Emman Nimedez joined our Creator at 1:00am today, August 16, 2020, Sunday. He was with his family during the time of his passing at St. Luke's Medical Center - Quezon City," Peachy Santos said.

Because mainstream media reported his death, people react...probably even those who don't think and has not watched his videos.

Bigla nga akong napanood ng mga videos niya. Sarili ba niyang mga songs, pati composition at lyrics yun o covers lang? Galing rin sa shots at editing.

Honestly, first time to know about him dahil mainstream media would only highlight celebrity vloggers... 2 million + subscribers na rin siya.

Balita lang talaga pinapanood ko pag TV. Then cable or YouTube kapag movies and entertainment... pero ni minsan di ko napanood si Emman..Is he more on comedy ...which genre?...Yung mga pinanood ko ngayon mga music videos niya..smooth video shots and editing...ganda rin ng audio editing. Not sure if sariling gawa niya or covers....and if collab with others.. May nakita ko marami sila sa isang video...puro mga vlogggers din. Ah, KPop pala Isa sa mga peg niya kaya binansagang siya Ang Pambansang Oppa.

Can’t imagine the pain that Daddy Louie is going through

RIP, Emman"
