The Best Vacation Spots in California for Families

Wazzup Pilipinas!

California is called the Golden State for a reason. This vast state boasts an incredibly versatile landscape. From towering redwood forests to sunny beaches to magnificent cities, you could visit California every year and still not see everything.

This versatility is what makes California such a great destination for families. Here are some of the best vacation spots in California to enjoy with your kids.

Malibu

Malibu isn't just for adults; there are plenty of child-friendly activities that make it fun for the whole family. Malibu is home to some of the most beautiful vacation rentals in California, just minutes from the beach. Frolic in the waves together then head to one of the many parks or museums.

Stop in at the Paradise Cove Beach Cafe where you can dine with your toes in the sand. This famous beach has been in numerous movies and television shows and is one of the most iconic destinations in Malibu.

Redwood National and State Parks

Camping is a national pastime, and there's no better place to do it than in the Redwood National and State Park. The parks offer both developed camping as well as backcountry camping options to suit your comfort level. Additionally, there are hiking trails that could take a couple of hours or a couple of weeks; it's a choose your own adventure!

The Redwood trees are incredible to behold. There are trees as tall as 300 feet, with a diameter so large a car could drive through. It's expected that these trees are thousands of years old, a throwback to ancient times standing silent guard still today.

San Francisco

San Francisco has a vibrant nightlife, but it's also a great destination for families. With a lot of great short-term rental options, you can stay in the heart of the city, hop a trolley, and explore to your heart's content.

Take a trip to the California Academy of Sciences and explore the indoor rainforest that stretches four stories tall. Cruise around the bay or cross the iconic Golden Gate bridge. Take a spooky excursion to Alcatraz prison that will have the whole family sleeping in one room. Buy your attraction tickets early to get the best deal and your choice of dates and times.

Yosemite National Park

Yosemite National Park is located in the scenic Sierra Nevada in mid-state California. The park covers nearly 1170 square miles and houses more incredible redwood trees, hiking trails, waterfalls, river rafting, mountains, and glaciers.

Your whole family will love the Mist Trail, which takes you to the unbelievable Nevada Falls. Take an educational turn by stopping in at the Pioneer Village to tour some historic homes and walk across a covered bridge. Cap off the adventure by panning for gold and walking through the open meadows like the prospectors of old.

Joshua Tree

Joshua Tree is one of the world's most unique and astonishing landscapes that everyone should strive to visit at least once. This southeastern destination is a stark desert landscape scattered with unique trees that are recognizable worldwide.

It's important to note that there are no accommodations or restaurants within the boundaries of the park, but there are plenty of places to stay nearby.

Los Angeles

Los Angeles is one of those cities that has managed to gain worldwide recognition and fame, comparable to New York City in the east. The challenge with heading to LA is deciding what not to do. You could spend your entire life in the city without ever seeing it all.

Take the kids to Hollywood and see the celebrity handprints in front of the Chinese Theater. Stroll along the Walk of Fame and get photos taken in front of the Hollywood sign. Hollywood isn't everything though-- stop by Universal Studios, the Kidspace Children's Museum, and the Angel's Flight Railway.

No matter where you go in California, there's something to do for the whole family. Plan your trip wisely, so you get to see as much as possible; your first trip won't be your last.

Sine Sandaan Venue Will Pay Homage to Pinoy Art Deco Cinema

Wazzup Pilipinas!

The honorees, living legends, and icons of Philippine Cinema can look forward to taking a trip down memory lane during Sine Sandaan: Celebrating the Luminaries of Philippine Cinema’s 100 Years on September 12 as the New Frontier Theater is transformed to an Art Deco Cinema as an homage to the standalone theaters during the Golden Age of Philippine Cinema.

Remembered for its intricate structure and viewed as a symbol of the first rise of film as a staple of Filipino culture, Art Deco Cinemas in the Philippines were prolific in the 1930s and 1950s and will be an apt visual theme in the celebration of the One Hundred Years of Philippine Cinema.

Once home to local and Hollywood movies and other acts and performances, the New Frontier Theater is the perfect venue for Sine Sandaan as it is considered as the biggest cinema in Asia when it was built in 1965 and a classic entertainment landmark in the 1960s in Cubao, Quezon City. With the help of Big Bulb, Inc., the theater will be transformed into a fusion of the past and the modern with Art Deco aesthetics and elements of old cinema for the once-in-a-lifetime milestone of the film industry.

On September 12, Sine Sandaan marks the official launch of the Centennial Year with the Film Development Council of the Philippines (FDCP) taking the helm for the celebration. More than 300 luminaries and icons of Philippine Cinema are expected to walk down the red carpet dressed to the nines. Guests will be entertained with powerful performances by the biggest names in the music industry and the best singers of the country which will highlight the journey of Philippine Cinema in its hundred years. The event is co-presented by CMB Film Services and ABS-CBN and supported through FDCP’s strengthened partnerships with the Department of Tourism (DOT), Araneta Group, and Fashion Designers Association of the Philippines (FDAP).

Sine Sandaan will be followed with Pista ng Pelikulang Pilipino (PPP) 2019, a week-long exclusive screening of Filipino genre films. PPP 2019 is co-presented by Frontrow International in partnership with the Cinema Exhibitors Association of the Philippines (CEAP) and CMB Film Services with major sponsors Fire and Ice Productions, ThinkBIT Solutions, Toronto Film School and Yorkville University, Bicol Isarog Transport System, Inc., and Novotel Manila. Media partners include Solar Entertainment Corporation, Sinag Maynila, CNN Philippines, PUBLICITYASIA, PEP.ph, Inquirer.net, InqPOP!, Rank Magazine, and the Society of Philippine Entertainment Editors (SPEEd).
