Mutya ng Pilipinas Search for the Hometown Girl, It's Their Time to Shine

Wazzup Pilipinas!

Mutya ng Pilipinas is sort of rebranding on its 51st year as they now get the services of celebrity and health and wellness personality plus former Miss World lead Cory Quirino, in partnership with the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) and Liga ng mga Barangay sa Pilipinas

With the objective of searching for the Hometown Girl that could come directly from the barangay levels, the challenge of looking for the rightful candidates out of the more than 40k baranggays and trimming it down to a few  30 candidates, or more depending on the search results, would be definitely difficult to achieve.

But knowing Cory Quirino, as evident from her poise, and her smart and intellectually convincing yet realistic answers to the inquiries of the media, we can confidently say that the girls are in good hands especially if she will be on hands-on with the selection and training to groom the candidates and the winners to their finest forms.

Congratulations in advance to our aspiring young ladies as this fair playing field may lead to something new.. We are at that hopeful moment when ladies that are new and inexperienced with regards to beauty pageants could open up new horizons for them as this could mean discovering emerging beauty queens other than those who have already experienced national competitions.

Rising OPM acts helped usher in a new dawn at the historic Ali Mall as it launched a newly transformed wing called the ALI X on Friday, March 22.
ALI X, which stands for Arts, Lifestyle, and Interests, is a shopping haven for those on the lookout for unique and quirky items and special hobbies. It is located on the upper ground floor of the Ali Mall.

Pop group The Juans and electro-pop-rock band Gracenote entertained shoppers on March 22.

The Juans, which is dubbed as “not your typical boyband,” is composed of Carl Guevarra, Japs Mendoza, Jiad Arroyo, Jason de Mesa and Daniel Gorospe. They shot to popular media consciousness thanks to their hits “Istorya,” “Prom,” and “Lumalapit,” and their cover of the Rivermaya original “Balisong.” Gracenote, on the other hand, is composed of Eunice Jorge, Jazz Jorge, EJ Pichay and Tatsi Jamnague. They scored hits with their cover of the Stevie B original “When I Dream About You,” and their collaborations with Chito Miranda in “Bakit Ganyan Ka,” and with Kean Cipriano in “Pwede Ako.”

Singer-songwriter Sabu, meanwhile, provided the music on Saturday, March 23, while rapper Krazy Kyle will drop beats on March 30 and 31.

Arts and crafts, antique, vinyl and collectibles stores dominated the lineup of establishments in ALI X, which also features ukulele and karate supplies stores.

The launch of ALI X also coincided with the first-ever RetroCon (retro convention) in Araneta Center. Organized by the same team behind the History Con, RetroCon which runs from March 22 to 24 and March 30 to 31, will feature vintage toys, collectibles, vinyls, cassette tapes, furniture, paintings and more.

Since it opened its doors to the public last September, ALI X has attracted mall visitors with its Instagram-worthy new décor and quirky offerings. It is one of the newest offerings in Ali Mall, which is eked out in Philippine history books as the first major shopping mall in the country.
