Wazzup Pilipinas!
Dulaang Rock Opera Company (Dulaang ROC) will be staging yet another major production that will highlight Filipino culture and values in the play METROMAN; Tagawalis ng Kasamaan.
Since 1989, Dulaang ROC has been promoting Filipino culture, language and literature through different plays it stages. The pieces that are being used are written by both professional and emerging Filipino playwrights, artists and students inside and outside the university. In ROC’s 29th year with its theme “Mamangha sa ‘di Inaakala”, the major production will be coming from a script written by decorated Palanca awardee, Joachim Emilio Antonio, entitled Metroman: Tagawalis ng Kasamaan together with Dulaang ROC member, Kim Luke Kwan as the director.
Metroman: Tagawalis ng Kasamaan, a play already staged back in 2007 under the direction of ROC Alumni, Teetap Dadia and Javi Laurel. This action-fantaserye story revolves around Dante Jote, an ambitious street sweeper turned superhero. Even if placed with close-to-impossible circumstances, Dante longs for a cleaner, crime-free Puebla Curacha. Dante reflects the heart of ROC in more ways than one.
Even with adamant, persistent, creative, and courageous natures, Dante and ROC alike are driven by a common denominator: achieving the common good with hopeful lenses and a positive outlook on circumstances.
Metroman: Tagawalis ng Kasamaan will run from 7:30 pm - 9:00 pm on March 12, 14, 15, 16, 19, 20, 21, and 22 at the University of Asia and The Pacific’s Telengtan Hall. Ticket prices are as of follows: Regular – Php 450.00; UA&P Students, Faculty, and Staff – Php 250.00, UA&P Alumni – Php 350.00.
