Joyce Peñas Pilarsky brings home the triumph as the 1st runner up in the said competition. Her triumph is just like the victory of the return of the Balangiga Bells to the Philippines after it was taken by the Americans as war booty during the Philippine-American War of 1901. The bells originated from the town of Balangiga in the province of Eastern Samar.

According to Joyce, the secret of winning and capturing the top industry judges is simply by her hard work and dedication to her craft. Together with her extensive imagination and a keen eye for details and designs that are individually handcrafted by her. She believes that the most beautiful gown is a product of hard work, patience, diligence and burning passion for loving what you do.

- “I praise and thank God for winning today! I would like to thank my family and freinds and everybody for the love and support and prayers for me!”

- “Thank you thank you so much for the wonderful judges And I dedicate this to those people who believed in me. And continued to support me Thank you thank you for the applause of the sweet audience! I am so overwhelmed by your response to my work!”

- “Thank you so much! Indeed when you do your best! God will take care of the rest , and never give up on your dreams because dreams really do come true! To God be the glory!”

Her choice of Filipino materials, appliques, and embroidered fabrics create this stunning and award-winning ensemble that captures the international runway spotlight.

Joyce is one of the finalists who competed against eight exemplary fashion designers from different parts of the world. They have been judged by top industry personalities such as head judge Bernard Connolly - celebrity stylist, Nicky Johnston celebrity photographer & judge on Britain's Next Top Model, Lola Royal - Stylist & fashion presenter and Nicky Hambleton-Jones Stylist, consultant, TV Presenter.

NAIA Terminal 2 Rehabilitation in Full Swing

Wazzup Pilipinas!

The renovation of NAIA Terminal 2 is in full swing, according to Manila International Airport Authority (MIAA) General Manager Ed Monreal.

"We started last September 2018 and despite the challenges, we shall proceed as planned. I say challenge because we are business as usual despite ongoing works. We hope to deliver on our promise to finish everything by March next year," the airport chief said.

The project involves architectural face lifting with the replacement of damaged floor finishes, and the restoration and chemical cleaning of stained floor finishes in the arrival and departure passenger movement areas. Damaged ceilings will be replaced. Thirty-two (32) sets of skylight roofing will be repaired. Seismic/expansion joints in general areas, baggage claim area and elevated roadway are to be replaced as well.

Walls, columns, beams and soffit finishes at the arrival and departure passenger movement areas, aerobridge areas and elevated roadway will be upgraded.

Replacement of glass doors at the pre-departure gates and fixed bridge gates, and cleaning and polishing of metal frames, metal louvers and claddings will also be undertaken.

Marked improvement will soon greet passengers with the expansion of the departure check-in hall and the arrival baggage area. The work includes the construction of a drop wall, installation of structural framing, installation of new glass wall panels and partitions, glass doors and metal ceiling panels.

To complement the expansion of these two areas, additional air-conditioning system, power, lightings, fire protection, electronics and communications systems will be installed. The construction of a power room is necessary to host additional power supply requirements for these additional installations.

The exterior of the buidling will have its share of fixing as exterior ledges, walls, beams, soffit, pathways and pocket gardens undergo waterproofing works.

Not putting aside safety of wellwishers, additional tubular bars at the bottom of existing railings will be put in place.

Passengers will also be happy to see a much improved flight information display system, and take delight listening to a new public address system after completion of the project.

Prior to the rehabilitation project, MIAA has added a total of 9 comfort rooms at the passenger movement areas in the year 2018.

“Given the spatial constraints that we have in Terminal 2 vis-a-vis the growing passenger traffic, we assure air travelers that we are doing all we can to be of better service to them. We appeal to all airport users to bear with us at this time," GM Monreal said in closing.
