In his latest exhibit, Cristobal presents new works of 8 paintings and 12 drawings that truly reflect the era of modernity. His “unprogrammed free abstraction” summarizes a compositional aesthetic that speaks of a weightless gesture and liberating brushstroke on a large format canvas. Geronimo Cristobal, who majored in Creative Writing and took art history courses in the University of the Philippines, chose the sensuality of the paint medium and melds it with the cold rationality of conceptual art. His training in Berlin’s Universitat der Kunste has helped him navigate the issues and challenges of abstraction. His more subdued works of contemplation and action are more than layers of paint – they are akin to psychological cleansing. Cristobal’s Vestigium (Latin for “footprint” or “marks”) showcases his method of sanding and scraping; the joy and challenge of uncovering hidden signs and messages in his works – in his mostly noir color palette – will intrigue the viewer. His Scriptorium, the room for writing by medieval monks in monasteries, refers to his belief that writing and painting have the same origins. It also evokes Cristobal’s social role as a writer, documentarian and messenger; and his visual works as medium of information and knowledge. The writing role parallels that of his work as a visual artist, as someone who transfers his knowledge, values and convictions through the visual form. Vestigium, Scriptorium will have its Artist’s Reception open on January 26, 6 pm at Gateway Gallery. The exhibit will be open to the public from January 27 to February 2, 2018. Gateway Gallery is the art museum of Araneta Center. It is open from Monday to Sunday, 10 am to 7 pm. It is located at the 5F of Gateway Tower, Araneta Center, Quezon City. UPPhA SC Proudly Presents the 6th Philippine Pharmacy Summit
Wazzup Pilipinas!
The Philippine Pharmacy Summit, brought to you by the University of the Philippines Pharmaceutical Association Student Council (UPPhA SC), is once again back on its sixth year.
The Philippine Pharmacy Summit, a pioneer project of the UPPhA Student Council since 2013, is an annual event which aims to educate and raise issues surrounding the pharmacy profession.
The past five summits have been successful, with participants from different pharmacy schools all over the Philippines, and local and international speakers distinguished in the pharmacy profession.
This 2018, UPPhA will be hosting the 6th Philippine Pharmacy Summit (PPS 6) with the theme “Revealing the Multidisciplinary Background of Pharmacy”.
The event aims to widen the perspective of the participants, and define the different roles and specializations that can be taken by future pharmacists.
Moreover, it aims to break the stigma that pharmacists are only meant inside the four walls of drugstores and hospitals.
The summit is in partnership with 14 out of the 20 participating schools across the country.
Though initially set up for pharmacy students, PPS 6 is now open to interested pharmacists who yearn to explore the profession further from well-versed experts in their respective fields.
The 6th Philippine Pharmacy Summit will be held on February 11, 2018 (Sunday) from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM at the SM Aura Premier, 26th street McKinley Parkway, Taguig City.
For more inquiries and updates on the event, you may visit their facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/PhilippinePharmacySummit/ or follow them on twitter at @UPPhA_PPS.

Pasig City Holds Annual Bambino Festival
Wazzup Pilipinas!
Pasig City joined the Christian world in celebrating the feast day of Sto. Nino Jesus by extolling His hollines through a parade participated in by people in the dioceses from the different barangays. This was held on a Sunday, January 21,
Many Pasig residents showed their solidarity in prayers by joining activities in honor of our BAMBINO!
The Bambino Festival is a celebration in honor of the Sto. Niño. It highlights the relevance of the Blessed Child in the lives of the Pasigueños. It also serves as a reminder of the simplicity, purity in spirit, love, mercy, and strength that is drawn from his innocence as a child.
We see gloriously decorated floats filled with flowers, fruits and of course, the images of the young Jesus wearing different attires. The number of statues seen varies from float to float, and many who joined the parade were also carrying their own images.
This annual event in Pasig is one of the highly anticipated events next to the Paskotitap which is done during the holiday or Christmas season, specifically within the month of December.
We are impressed of the creativity of the Pasiguenos, and eventhough the festival is not as grand as the likes of Sinulog in Cebu or Ati-Atihan in Aklan, the faith and devotion of the people of Pasig towards the Sto. Nino is equally admirable.
People have different ways of expressing their love towards a greater force that supposedly guides us in our every task, and one of them is to join the parades of celebration.
We may get lucky when our prayers are answered but do remember that we don't really need anybody to force their beliefs on us.
