Cusi to Energy Investors: Let Us Fuel the Mindanao Economy

ENERGY PLANS: DOE Undersecretary Felix William B. Fuentebella presents the government's energy plans to participants in the Energy Investment Forum and Stakeholders Conference in Davao City on Tuesday, 3 October 2017, as part of the agency's E-Power Mo Mindanao campaign.

(Davao City). Department of Energy (DOE) Secretary Alfonso G. Cusi called on the private sector to support the government's energy program through investments.

“We urge our partners in the private sector to actively participate in our country’s energy development to fuel the dreams and aspiration of Mindanao,” Cusi said in a message delivered by DOE Undersecretary Felix William B. Fuentebella during the agency's E-Power Mo Mindanao campaign in Davao City on Tuesday, 3 October.

“We have a gigantic task ahead of us to make the Philippines globally competitive which requires the substantial infusion of investments," said Cusi in his message.

Cusi reiterated that the DOE pursues a fuel- and technology-neutral policy while balancing environmental concerns.

"The DOE will push socio-economic growth through a competitive selection process to ensure reasonably-priced energy."

:The DOE also follows a three-pronged approach driven by three I's--Incentives, Investments and Innovation," he said.

“Under the three I's approach, the government will provide the necessary support for players who want to invest in new technologies that not only increases reliability, but also reduces emissions,” Cusi clarified.

"Supporting the approach," he said, "is Executive Order No. 30 creating the Energy Investment Coordinating Council (EICC) to streamline regulatory procedures affecting energy projects of national significance."

Around 600 individuals coming from the academe; energy associations, companies involved in power, renewable energy, coal, petroleum, natural gas, alternative vehicles and energy efficiency industries as well as partners from national government agencies attended the E-Power Mo Mindanao Leg.

Furthermore, the DOE also reported on the major initiatives agreed upon during the 35th ASEAN Ministers on Energy Meeting and Associated Meetings (AMEM35) hosted by the country concluding that we now have more partners for energy development.

HPE Aruba Gives Small Businesses Simplified, Business-class Wi-Fi with the Ease of a Mobile App

Aruba, a Hewlett Packard Enterprise company, today announced a new Wi-Fi solution designed to give small businesses secure and reliable business-grade Wi-Fi with easy to set-up APs and an intuitive mobile app. The HPE OfficeConnect OC20 is a cost-effective wireless solution designed for businesses without dedicated IT resources. With OC20, small businesses or their channel partners can rapidly deploy and manage Wi-Fi for small business across all vertical industries.

Small business owners are embracing smartphones, tablets, and cloud applications. Nearly half (43%) of small business owners use a smartphone over Wi-Fi as the primary device to run their operations, and 65% are conducting bookkeeping and accounting on cloud-based apps, demonstrating the need for reliable, ubiquitous wireless connectivity.[1] While the competitive and operational benefits of mobility are clear, the gating factor is often installation and configuration. Small businesses tend to have limited IT resources, so the option for quick self set-up or configuration with the assistance of a channel partner is essential.

Aruba’s new HPE OfficeConnect OC20 wireless solution addresses these challenges by offering small businesses an intuitive and cost-effective wireless solution that is simple to manage without technical expertise. Resellers can now offer small business customers a fast, business-grade Wi-Fi solution that keeps their employees connected and productive.

“Small and medium businesses are a critical growth engine for economies in Southeast Asia. According to International Data Corporation’s research, Asia is the third largest region for small business IT spend, demonstrating that these businesses increasingly rely on innovation and technology to deliver value to their customers. With the HPE OfficeConnect OC20, small business owners can focus on their business goals and increasing productivity with the knowledge that they have strong network infrastructure in place,” said Justin Chiah,  Director and General Manager (SEA and Taiwan), Aruba, a Hewlett Packard Enterprise Company.
