PNP Chief Ronald "Bato" Dela Rosa Awarded with Gusi Peace Prize

Wazzup Pilipinas!

Not too many individuals get to be honorably acknowledged on their accomplishments. With so many of us either competing, aiming and wanting to get recognition, not everyone would become equally as successful as the rest of us. We have to admit that somehow "luck" has something to do with it. Being at the right place, at the right time, or knowing the right people, can take us to greater heights more conveniently.

PNP Chief Ronald Bato Dela Rosa was recently awarded with the Gusi Peace Prize during the awards night held on November 23, 2016 at the Philippine International Convention Center (PICC).

This man is surprisingly so popular nowadays that it is quite overwhelming to find out he is one of the awardees among many international delegates. There was a total of 14 individuals that received the valued Guzi Peace Prize, of which was received in the past years by the likes of Noar Aunor, Lea Salonga and other Pinoy celebrities. Known popularly as Bato or the Rock or Stone, the PNP Chief projects toughness while being a bit wacky at times especially during the early days as PNP Chief since the administration of Rodrigo Duterte appointed him into position.

There was even a mascot and doll resembling his image, and I've seen him get invited to beauty pageant finals like the Miss Earth 2016 as one of the judges, and too bad I missed his much-awaited press conference at Kamuning Bakery.

Bear Brand's Laki sa Tibay Project Inspires the Youth with Positive Values

Wazzup Pilipinas!

Many of us probably grew up with Bear Brand as one of our favorite drinks. The familiar blue can with a bear as its identifying symbol or "mascot" may be one of the most recognizable image we see. Though we took a different brand of infant milk, we immediately shifted to the Bear Brand as soon as we reached the age when we now start walking straighter with less falling down on the floor.

Now, on its 10th year, Bear Brand Powdered Milk Drink relaunched its long-running nutrition education advocacy from the Laki sa Gatas to Laki sa Tibay as proof of the brand's commitment to continue strengthening the Tibay of Filipino children, towards achieving their ambitions.

For Bear Brand, Tibay is facing life's challenges by having strength of body, mind and will, achieved through a healthy lifestyle and proper nutrition, with everyday milk drinking at the center.

Through the launch of Laki sa Tibay in 2016, Bear Brand aims to reach more public schools per year to engage more teachers, parents, and school children on the role that Tibay plays for them to achieve their ambitions. Since 2006, the campaign has reached almost 4 million children, 3 million parents, and 168, 000 teachers.

I was witness to one of the school visits when Bear Brand went to the E. Delos Santos Elementary School to make some children happy, give away from freebies, hold games, and entertain them with two wacky personalities trying their best to keep the interest of the children.

The organizers gave them a tumbler that can be uniquely designed as there are removable paper and some crayons inside. This is where you can draw and be creative. Although it was intended for children, the lessons shared could also be highly useful even for adults. The moment could serve as motivational perks for children who actively listened and appreciated the effort.

The children were very eager to participate in the activities, including their drawing of what they want to be in the future. and were hyper in their reactions and appreciation of the entertainment. They were highly engaged with the activities especially on the games or challenges that they joined.

We would like to thank Bear Brand for this notable advocacy as they also donated around 50 chairs made from a combination of Bear Brand laminates and fresh resin. The same chairs will be distributed to 50 public schools in 3rd to 5th class municipalities. A total of 643 grams of Bear Brand laminates or 321 pieces of Bear Brand 33g laminates can be upcycled to make one Tibay Chair. Upcycling is the process of transforming waste materials, unwanted or useless products, into something new that is with better quality of for better environmental value.

Bear Brand also donated some books containing inspirational and valued stories that children will love to learn about great moral values and other learning that would shape our children's lives into becoming better members of society.
