Using 3D Printing for the Wazzup Pilipinas Trophy Project (Part 1)

Wazzup Pilipinas!

3D printing is awesome! It's a promising capability that may soon be available in every home. It may still be a bit expensive at the moment, but when people start to realize the many possibilities using this technology, the equipment, materials and service would soon be reasonable!

We are so much interested in exploring this technology that we partnered with a company that offers the very first online 3D Printing service - Shapecloud!

Since it's our first time to have an item of our own preference printed using 3D printing technology, we had to work closely with the company in determining the actual look of what we proposed as a trophy project. One majestic symbol that we could soon use to reward or recognize our dedicated correspondents, partners, and sponsors for being part of the WazzupPilipinas.com team.

We met Erick Chua, founder of Shapecloud.ph at the Philippine 3D Printing and Digifab Conference and Exhibit held at the SMX Convention Center of SM Aura. I was one of the media partners of the event and visited the event on its second day together with Elison Barcelo, the CEO of Vigattin Radio of Radyo Inquirer DZIQ 990 AM, to get some photos for the article that I would write about the event. Elison and I just came from our radio show in Makati and had lunch nearby at Skippy's Bar and Grill restaurant located at Forum BGC. The restaurant were celebrating their 2nd year anniversary that month and they invited us over for some celebration.

DOST Regional Invention Contests and Exhibits 2015 Now Accepts Entries Until September 15

Wazzup Pilipinas!

We've made shout-outs to social media a few days ago to announce the Department of Science and Technology (DOST) Regional Invention Contests and Exhibits (RICE) 2015 for the National Capital Region or NCR. We were invited to a attend a press conference last week so members of the media can help share the news so your Pambansang Blogger ng Pilipinas immediately went into social media to make some noise. I also mentioned about the contest and exhbit on our radio show Vigattin at Radyo Inquirer and even invite dour guests from different colleges and universities to try their luck to join the RICE.

Since it's faster to share it in Facebook and Twitter, you've probably heard that we already promoted the acceptance of entries whose deadline is on September 15 and the actual event would be on September 28 to 30 at teh Technological Institute of the Philippines (TIP) in Quezon City.

I told DOST-NCR Regional Director Dr. Teresita Fortuna that I will help them in their future campaigns and announcements so that many would benefit from the active information dissemination that bloggers are widely known for.

I released first an announcement in social media, including the slides presented to us so the readers would know exactly what was shared to us. Then I uploaded the video message of Ms Fortuna on YouTube.

Thus, this blog post is another encouragement for everyone from high school, college to professionals, to submit as many entries as you can to get the chance to win as much as Php 50,000 as grand prize. There are many categories to join so there will be a lot of chances to win. Who knows, may be your inventions will win in all categories.

I made a video of her announcement so that you'll get to hear the news personally from her - making the message more intimate and personal as if she is speaking to you face to face. We want our government leaders to be as approachable and friendly so that the people, especially the masses, would appreciate their many efforts and recognize the significance of their projects. It is best we hear the news from them up close and personal through the video invite below.

United in Support of Breastfeeding: LATCH Photo Exhibit Urges Everyone to Patronize Mother's Milk

Wazzup Pilipinas!

Just in case you missed it, there was a photo exhibit that was on display at Greenbelt 5 Gallery last August 26 to 30, and was organized by a noble organization that's called LATCH (which stands for Lactation, Attachment, Training, Counselling, Help) which offers quality lactation education and peer counseling services to mothers who choose to make the wise and healthier decision of proving breastfeeding to their babies.

Many parents have been influenced by several multinational milk companies to think that infant formula is the most practical way to nourish their children. We often forget that milk that come from cows are totally inferior if compared to our very own mothers' milk. There is no doubt that any kind of milk from any animal would not equal in nourishment with the milk coming from human mothers.

Babies deserve the milk from their own mothers. It is the most sensible act that we should practice, and we should help share this information to everyone else who have been falsified with the wrong information brought about by massive marketing and advertising methods.

These are the thoughts that LATCH wants to share to every mother out there so the future generation could all benefit from drinking the real "milk."

LATCH believes that the past generations have been deceived to believe that breastmilk substitutes offers better nutritional value. It is high time we correct that perception. We should reach out to all our friends, relatives, colleagues, and other acquaintances to help educate them of the advantages of breastfeeding.
