There's Still Hope For Everyone: An Open Letter to the Misguided

Wazzup Pilipinas!

This is becoming a regular headache of mine:

Asking myself what to do when I arrive at an event only to find out that there's a few people already there that signed up as Wazzup Pilipinas representatives.

As a gentle reminder to all those who want to represent Wazzup Pilipinas, please ask permission from me first. If you were not assigned to be there at an event, especially the events that I am an official media partner with, you should not declare yourself under Wazzup Pilipinas. This goes the same even if you are a member of the Wazzup Pilipinas community. We cannot afford to have everyone in the community showing up at an event claiming to be official representatives of Wazzup Pilipinas.

We are turning 1 year old this coming March 22, 2014, the same day we will be officially receiving another award as Best Filipino Community Blog Site, so I prefer to hear only good news before that big day. Too bad, I personally witnessed these appalling discoveries.

Makati City is Selfie Capital of the World

Wazzup Pilipinas!

Wow! After making as Word of the Year in Oxford Dictionary, TIME magazine is now declaring Makati, the financial capital of the Philippines, as the Selfie Capital of the World.

Makati is the "selfiest" city in the world according to the popular international magazine. TIME identified 100 cities in the world were the most selfies are hugely being made. "Makati City produces more selfie per capita than any other city in the planet", says Chris Wilson, interactive graphics editor at TIME magazine. Wilson adds that Makati has 258 selfie-takers per 100,000 people.

Cebu City was also included on the list of selfiest places in the world ranking at No. 9 with an average of 99 selfie-takers for every 100,000 people.

“Noises Off” Takes Off and Set To Open March 28

Wazzup Pilipinas!

Repertory Philippines proudly presents the hilarious ‘Noises Off’, the third offering for its 77th season.

Written in 1982 by English playwright Michael Frayn, Noises Off—a stage term indicating sounds coming from offstage—is a play within a play, the story of a temperamental director and a troupe of hapless performers putting up a silly sex farce called Nothing On.

The present production of Noises Off, which is directed by Miguel V. Faustmann, runs from March 28 to April 13 and from April 25 to April 27, 2014 at Onstage, 2/F, Greenbelt 1, Paseo de Roxas corner Legazpi St., Makati City.

The idea for Noises Off came to Frayn while he was watching one of his other plays, The Two of Us, from the wings. Noting that it was “funnier from behind than in front,” he was inspired to create a one-act play called Exits, which he later expanded into what would become Noises Off.

Repertory Philippines has assembled a stellar cast for the current production, most of whom play actors playing roles in the fictitious play Nothing On.
