Start the New Year with Habiness at the Yuchengco Museum

Wazzup Pilipinas!

This 2014, begin the new year right by adding Filipino color to your home or by supporting local weavers and artisans through Habiness!, Yuchengco Museum’s four-day marketplace of fabrics, personal and fashion accessories, and home décor. The textile fair will be held at the museum from January 15 to 18, 2014.

The Habiness! textile fair and showcase features six especially selected merchants from different parts of the Philippines. Among the wares to be sold at Habiness! are tepiña shawls and blouses from Palawan, inabel blankets and fabric from Ilocos, and shoes, clothing, and bags made from various local textiles.

Habiness! complements the special textile exhibit Art of the Loom: Weaving the Story That Is the Binakul, which is currently on view until January 25, 2014. The event is a rare opportunity to shop for unique, locally handmade products, to explore modern Filipino fashion and design, and to meet weavers, artisans, and textile enthusiasts.

The Habiness! marketplace will be open at Yuchengco Museum from January 15 to 18, 2014 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. The fair is free with museum admission (P100 for adults, P50 for students, P25 for children and seniors). For more details, call the museum at (632) 889-1234 or visit www.yuchengcomuseum.org.

Quezon City to Collect Garbage Collection Fees

Wazzup Pilipinas!

The Quezon City government will be implementing a garbage collection fee mandated to all their residents more specifically to the lot owners. Though the QC government has a ceiling price of P 500 per year maximum per property, the most stressful argument here is why on Earth would they insist on a garbage collection fee when its supposed to be one of the most basic services given to the public by every local government unit.

I also have nothing against informal settlers but the so called "squatters" generate the most garbage and they usually dispose of these trash improperly thus causing more eyesore in our streets that would eventually clog our drainage systems leading to floods.

They did say they are in the process of devising a system on how to include informal settlers in the garbage fee collection but shouldn't they postpone this until they were able to do so?
