It is very alarming to know that some stores even tolerate the sale of these products knowing very well that it will cause bad effects and even irreversible damage to one’s health! These harmful substances are bad for the heart, liver and kidney. It can even infect the blood in our body and we can catch serious diseases just because these products exist.

There are products that contain Mercury because it may promote a lighter skin but if the mercury level content exceeds, adverse damage to health occurs. These effects are as follows:

4. Scarring of the skin
5. Skin is more prone to bacteria and fungi.
6. Severe gastroenteritis
7. Burning mouth pain
8. Abdominal pain
9. Vomiting
10. Colitis

It could also affect the nervous system and mental health because too much exposure to mercury can escalate anxiety, depression and psychosis, peripheral neuropathy. What you may think is an innocent looking product that promises “beauty” may actually result to huge health damage—not just physical and aesthetical damage but also health damage all-over!

This has been going on since the 70’s and had been a continuous health concern up to this day. What is FDA doing and what are the manufacturers thinking while making these HARMFUL products? This is a public concern that should be addressed. Always be vigilant and know what good and what’s bad for you.

If anyone knows or suspects that a product: medicine or supplement is deemed fake, illegal and harmful contact the authorities and report your concern.

Women Senators File Reso Slamming Congress' Plan to Play De Lima's Alleged Sex Video

Wazzup Pilipinas!

In a display of unity and solidarity, women senators from different political affiliations today filed a resolution denouncing the plan by some members of the House of the Representatives (HoR) to show before a committee hearing Senator Leila De Lima's alleged sex video.

Senate Resolution No. 184, initiated by Akbayan Senator Risa Hontiveros, expressed "the sense of the Senate" saying that the proposal to show De Lima's alleged sex video is "illegal, violative of inter-parliamentary courtesy and decency, and an affront to women's dignity."

"Sisterhood"

"Today, we cross party lines and temporarily set aside our differences. Our sisterhood and strong bond and solidarity as women brought us together to oppose the misogyny and sexism of those who think we are lesser beings and thus, deserve to be shamed," Hontiveros said.

"Today, we close ranks to fight for the dignity of every woman," Hontiveros added.

"State-sponsored sexism"

Hontiveros said the plan to play the former justice secretary's alleged sex video is an affront to all. She described it as "state-sponsored sexism."

"It is an attack against our mothers, sisters, wives and people with different sexual orientation and gender identity or expression. Using taxpayer's money, and the legislature, they are promoting the systemic degradation of women. We will not allow this," Hontiveros asserted.

The resolution signed by Senators Cynthia Villar, Nancy Binay, Grace Poe and Loren Legarda said the planned showing of the video will violate Republic Act 9995, or the Anti-photo or Video Voyeurism Act of 2009, and Republic Act 4200, or the Anti Wiretapping Law.

The resolution also said the plan violates the time-honored principle of inter-parliamentary courtesy given to incumbent lawmakers.

iDEFEND Calls for Locsin’s Resignation from UN Post

Wazzup Pilipinas!

Following global condemnation of President Duterte’s claim to follow in Hitler’s example which forced the President to do another vague “clarification”, the new Philippine Ambassador to the United Nations is not wasting any time defending those awful words by citing that German Nazis did many things right, and asking the people to look beyond the holocaust.

Duterte clearly approved the slaughter of 3 million Jews in his address to media last week. A thousand apologies will never remedy this atrocious statement. Moreover, to recommend the extermination of suspected drug users and criminals in order to save future generations of Filipinos not only compared an entire race to criminals, but still reflected the same belief that Germany’s mass murderer espoused.

If Duterte’s words deserved the world’s denunciation, Teddy Locsin’s defense of those words deserved immediate reckoning. Locsin appeared to be the only one among the government’s spokespersons not bothered by the President’s gruesome pronouncements and threats, which Congressman Edcel Lagman described as 'criminally culpable'. He has transformed his newspaper column “Tedditorial” from an independent thinkers’ page into a Goebbels-style propaganda machine for the President.

By publicly endorsing an idea which have not, are not, and never will be part of the Filipino’s beliefs, he has grossly misrepresented the country in the global community. Under any other administration past and future he would be immediately sacked.

Mr. Locsin’s actions are contemptuous to the Filipino people and its solidarity with the Jewish people against tyranny and any form of targeted exterminations. As sovereignty resides in the people we are therefore firing Mr. Locsin as UN Ambassador.

iDEFEND further calls for legal actions to ban him from any government appointments henceforth.

#GiveArtAChance with UndaMADEged

Wazzup Pilipinas!

WHERE: Commune Cafe + Bar
WHEN: October 15, 2016, 1-5 P.M.
WORKSHOP FEE: 350 (inclusive of food and drinks)

UndaMADEged is a project spearheaded by Gilda Flores, a 17- year old student-correspondent for The Philippine Daily Inquirer, a contributor for WheninManila, Voice of the Youth Online, and Applica, and a writer for The LaSallian. She has always dreamed about making art, writing, and the likes as permanent entities in this ever-changing world. It might be a long run, but creativity has no finish line--it doesn't stop. It shouldn't stop.

One captivating twist here is that the event would be fully handled by young bloods--from the manpower, to the hosts, and to the speakers. Also, the topics would drift away from the conventional "how to write 101," instead, Gilda and her team would be shedding some light on more modern forms of art such as: spoken word, mobile photography, creative brainstorming, writing and experience, and how to be a 'YouTuber.'

We're giving you a chance, we're giving art a chance. It's about time. Let's do this.

Promise Hope Not Death to Drug Dependents, Push for Public Health Approach to Anti-Drug Campaign

Wazzup Pilipinas!

Two days after President Rodrigo Duterte vowed to kill the country's estimated three million drug users, Akbayan Senator Risa Hontiveros made an emphatic appeal to the government to provide drug dependents with hope by mainstreaming a public health approach to its anti-drug campaign.

In a forum held at at the Ateneo De Manila University on Monday, Hontiveros spoke of the need for a policy anchored on public health and human rights to effectively address the drug problem and rehabilitate drug dependents. The forum was organized by the Ateneo School of Government, Ateneo Law School and the Ateneo School of Medicine and Public Health.

The Senator argued that worldwide the drug problem is acknowledged as a public health issue, and a strictly punitive and violent war on drugs have failed in many parts of the world.

"The government must promise hope not death to drug dependents. It must guarantee health care assistance not violence. This is the more effective, affordable and compassionate anti-drug policy," Hontiveros said.

"Harm reduction"

Hontiveros, who is also the Chair of the Senate Committee on Health and Demography, pushed for "harm reduction programs and practices" to reduce the adverse health, social and economic consequences of the use of illegal drugs. These include the opening of community-based out-patient rehabilitation programs, drop-in centers, and conducting of harm reduction capacity-building sessions for local governments, health agencies and non-government organizations.

"Harm reduction as an essential component of the public health approach to the drug problem has effectively reduced overdose, overdose deaths, and HIV transmissions. Furthermore, based on the experiences of China and Iran, harm reduction strategies led to less trafficking, less use of illicit drugs, crime reduction, higher rates of employment among former dependents, and greater participation of drug dependents in communities and family activities," Hontiveros explained.

"Cost-effective and affordable"

The first-term senator also said that a public health approach to the drug problem is cost-effective and affordable. Citing several studies, Hontiveros said that for every dollar invested on harm reduction, over $4 accrue in short term health-care cost savings. She also said advocates estimated that only 10 percent of the approximately $ 100 billion spent annually on international drug enforcement would already cover HIV prevention services for drug users for four years.

"The government must explore all available options and enrich the discourse on the alternatives we have. It must include the public health and human rights lens in its anti-drug campaign. Maybe in order to win this war, it is the legendary nurse, Florence Nightingale, that we must find inspiration from rather than an Adolf Hitler," Hontiveros concluded.

SHDA Convention Underscores Challenge to Philippine Housing Industry

Wazzup Pilipinas!

If there is one thing that was unequivocally and indisputably established during the 25th National Developers’ Convention of the Subdivision and Housing Developers’ Association, it is this: the housing industry has a mammoth task before it. After all, a 5.7 million-unit housing backlog for the year 2016 is not to be taken lightly. Yet, the participants of the conference left Iloilo with smiles on their faces because there are many reasons to be optimistic at the conclusion of the gathering held from September 22-23, 2016. With the theme “The Many Faces of Housing: Enhancing Lives”, there was no doubt left on any of the 300 participants’ minds that there are still many different ways to engage the general public in terms of kinds of housing (and price points) as well as location. And that they have a unique and important role in nation-building.

The keynote speaker on Sept. 23, Department of Public Works and Highways secretary Mark Villar noted that government expenditure on infrastructure through the DPWH has been consistently increasing by leaps and bounds: P190.9 billion in 2014, P273.9 billion in 2015, and P363.5 billion in 2016. The total budget for the year 2017 is P342.3 billion. The projects are in various stages of completion and the biggest fund allocation is in Mindanao with P133.1 billion.

Sen. JV Ejercito, chairman of the Senate Committee on Urban and Housing Resettlement, said that “we are in exciting times. The 17th congress is one of the most productive times in terms of setting a legislative agenda.” Two bills to address the housing backlog have been filed: Senate Bill No. 328, an Act creating the Department of Human Settlement and Urban Development, and Senate Bill 331: On-Site, In-City or Near-City Resettlement Act for Informal Settler Families.

Engr. Rodel Racadio, SHDA national president, reiterated that through the SHDA-commissioned Philippine Housing Roadmap, the partnership between government and the private sector “has created a comprehensive and actionable development plan to meet the needs of Filipinos in all sectors of society.” He further reiterated that any development in the housing industry has a multi-sectoral impact and multiplier effect.

Clean Up Your Act: It’s Time to Download the Handy App

Wazzup Pilipinas!

These days, apps play an integral part in everyone’s everyday lives. We all have smartphones at this point, and there are a variety of apps that can help to keep you in check, no matter what your needs. One of the best apps for everything related to cleaning your home or apartment is Handy.

The Handy cleaning app was previously known as Handybook and was founded back in 2012 by co-founders Oisin Hanrahan and Umang Dua. It came to be when Hanrahan was a student in Ireland and became a real estate developer in the Eastern Europe area. He began to purchase and renovate apartments in Budapest and soon developed the idea of Handy as a means of helping people to acquire a variety of services for the home.

Over the past few short years, Handy has gone from being a simple database of professional house cleaners, painters, plumbers, electricians and other home related professionals to a huge service that allows you to locate and book these pros. The service is available in the United States and throughout Europe. It has become so hugely popular that it could expand into other regions as well, including Asia and specifically, the southeastern country of the Philippines.

Handy provides users with a one hundred percent money back guarantee if they are not satisfied with the services of a professional who performs work on their home. However, it should be noted that all professional home workers are thoroughly background checked, highly experienced, friendly and insured. When you use the Handy app, you can quickly and conveniently schedule the home cleaner, plumber, electrician, mover or other professional of your choice, in as little as 60 seconds, and schedule them to come to perform services as early as the next day.

To use the app, all you need to do is to choose the payment method you want to use, select a professional and the date and time you want them to show up at your home. Because the app is right on your smartphone, it is highly convenient and you can book and manage your Handy appointments right at your fingertips while on the go at any time.

Duterte Pledged to Slaughter 3 Million Addicts Just as Hitler Massacred the Jews

Wazzup Pilipinas!

President Rodrigo Duterte pledged to slaughter 3 million drug addicts in the same way Adolf Hitler massacred the Jews during the Holocaust.

Isn't it time to put an end to this madness?

Remember that only 16 million people voted for Duterte. The Philippines has a population of 100 million. Do the math. That's a lot of people who are right in the middle of this stupidity.

What is his Communications team doing? or is the president really so stubborn that he does not just reads the speeches prepared for him?

Everything that comes out of his mouth is pure shit!...and Duterte supporters steps on these shits every time they defend his evil thoughts.

Yeah, he is just being himself. He is truly a shit-making machine!

Hail the next Hitler!? God save our country!

"Don't be a blind follower, or see no wrong in Duterte, because that is so wrong."

When you believe he means something else with all the foul-mouthed statements he has been saying, you should believe others also deserve the same treatment so you should offer your own "interpretation" as well.

When you still see hope for him to change after a few more months or years in the presidency, you should also offer the same compassion for the drug abusers who could possibly be cured after some time in rehab.

When you believe he is the only one who has taken real action where all other presidents have failed, you should also consider that his persistent detractors might also be among the few who are ready to face the consequences just to see real change.

When Anti-Duterte criticize the president for his wrong ways, it doesn't mean they are not supportive of the president. Remember that real friends are those that would not hesitate to be truthful when they see fault in you. Real supporters would be honest enough to point out his mistakes in order to achieve real change for the better.

Like Duterte, real friends may also use inappropriate and demeaning words just to get your attention. If you believe the president is just being himself, so why limit that belief to him. Unlike Duterte, do not wish them death just because they are being true to you.

Just like Duterte, we are not purely 100% evil-proof. We can make mistakes. We cannot correct these mistakes if we ignore or let them be just because we believe there is an ultimate goal that needs to be accomplished. We should not condone the wrong acts done along the way just to continue with our quest for change.

In traveling, remember that reaching the destination is not the only thing important. Our journey - what we do along the way - should be the most meaningful for all of us.

If we keep on looking only at our preferred way, we may miss the better path.

Duterte should be reminded that he should stop comparing himself to others, and show his real self instead. He will continue making mistakes if he deliberately patterns himself with others that may have been wrong as well.

The problem with Duterte supporters is they purposely blind themselves from the evil that their president is doing just because the guns are not pointed at them.

Duterte's good intentions are useless if he is seen as a madman by many, especially by our foreign neighbors, and consequently, the entire country is seen as no place for any sane person, or tourist, or investor, to ever visit or do business in.

Whatever good this madman has done are worth nothing if he continues tolook at people like pests that needs to be eradicated.

Unlike Duterte supporters, the rest of us also look at the long-term effect of his insanity. No sane person would want to kill his fellowmen just because he thinks they are hopeless cases.

I wouldn't want to be friends with someone who believes killing is the only solution to cure the sickness that has plagued us for a long time. You should not kill! You cure!

When we start slaughtering our fellowmen, or even have thoughts that is the only right thing to do just to save the rest of us, then we become worst than them..

But I won't give up on these misguided individuals. Unlike them, I believe there is still hope for these fanatics, and I wouldn't want them to get murdered just because I feel that they are blind followers of the madman.

There has never been any real change since Duterte became president. It doesn't matter how long he has been president, or how long he will stay as president. We should not wait for many to be murdered before we put a stop to this madman. If he continues to act and think like a madman, he will bring nothing but madness to our country.

Don't expect anything good from a man who believes all his detractors are better off dead.
