Binigyan ng pagkilala ng Philippine Postal Corporation (PHLPost) sa pangunguna ni Postmaster General Luis Carlos ang mga miyembro ng Criminal Inspection and Detection Group (CIDG) Anti-Fraud Unit na pinamumunuan ni Police Colonel Bernard L. Lao, kasama sina Police Captain Victoria A. Mendoza, Police Executive Master Sergeant Joseph Arnie Y. Delos Santos, Police Senior Master Sergeant Rommel S. Habig, Police Staff Sergeant Joel T. Diones, Patrolman Debbie Jane G. Carino, Nina L. Mendoza, Ivy Jean S. Fernandez, Kenneth M. Cinense, Richard L. Nicolas and Kenneth Ian V. Andaya sa kanilang tulong upang masakote ang mga illegal na nagbebenta ng mga “Post Office Boxes” online.

Ayon sa report ni PHLPost Inspectorate Department Manager Amadeo Tura, ipinagbigay alam sa kanya ni Acting Intelligence Officer Roberto Palomo na may nakakita na ipinost sa online at ibinebenta ang mga Post Office brass metal cover na may label na “1921 historical Manila Central Post Office brass safety mailbox”.

Nabatid din ng PHLPost na may nawawala na mga brass cover sa Caloocan City Central Post Office.

Matapos ma-validate ang mga nawawalang Post Office Boxes, agad na ikinasa ng CIDG anti-fraud at operatiba mula sa PHLPost Inspectorate Dept. ang buy bust operation sa isang tindahan sa Caloocan City na nagresulta sa pagkakaaresto sa dalawang suspek na nagnakaw diumano ng “Post Office Box” na pagmamay-ari ng Caloocan City Central Post Office.

Matapos imbentaryuhin ang mga nawawala, lumalabas na 73 na mga Post Office box cover na gawa sa bronze o tanso ang ninakaw ng dalawang suspek sa Post Office ng Caloocan City.

Ayon kay Postmaster General Luis Carlos, nahaharap sa kasong paglabag sa PD 1612 o Anti-Fencing Law ang mga suspek. Ito ay isang seryosong krimen na may multa at pagkakakulong.

Aniya, “Hindi natin tino-tolerate ang mga ganitong gawain at patuloy natin itong susugpuin.’’

Gayundin ay mas palalakasin ng PHLPost ang Inspectorate Department sa pamamagitan ng paglalagay ng mga matitinong pulis sa hanay ng Inspectorate Service Department.

Dagdag ni Carlos, “patuloy din na nakikipag-ugnayan ang PHLPost sa United States Postal Service (USPS) upang bigyan ng mga training ang mga kawani sa Inspectorate Service Department”.
