Dude Food: Classic Recipes Your Dad Will Love

Wazzup Pilipinas!?

A son’s first hero and a daughter’s first love, there are so many reasons why fathers and all the other paternal figures in your life deserve some love and gratitude. Dads have always been kings of the kitchen, and a great way to give back is by turning the tables and cooking for him instead. Cooking for your dad is not only a great way to bond with the family, but it’s also good practice for when you start your own.

Most dads appreciate classic comfort food that packs a lot of flavor. To impress the father figures in your life this Father’s Day, La Germania recommends the following timeless recipes that will surely impress:

Do it Italian Style

If your dad is into exemplary cinematic masterpieces like The Godfather, you can serve him an easy yet delectable Italian dish that’s both comforting yet delicious: Chicken Parmigiana.

Ingredients:

● 1 egg, beaten

● 2 ounces dry bread crumbs

● 2 skinless, boneless chicken breast, cut into halves

● ¾ (16 ounce) jar spaghetti sauce

● 2 ounces shredded mozzarella cheese

● ¼ cup grated Parmesan cheese

 Instructions:

1. Preheat the oven to 350°F. Lightly grease a medium baking sheet.

2. Pour egg into a small shallow bowl. Place bread crumbs in a separate shallow bowl. Dip chicken into egg, then into the bread crumbs.

3. Place coated chicken on the prepared baking sheet and bake in the preheated oven for 40 minutes, or until no longer pink and juices run clear.

4. Pour 1/2 of the spaghetti sauce into a 7x11 inch baking dish. Place chicken over sauce, and cover with remaining sauce. Sprinkle mozzarella and Parmesan cheeses on top and return to the preheated oven for 20 minutes.

More Tacos, More Fun

Give your dad’s favorite tacos a fresh upgrade by baking them instead. Through this method, the top stays crispy and crunchy, while the bottom part gets soft. This is the perfect dish to munch on as he watches his favorite sports games.

Ingredients:

● 1-1/2 pounds ground beef

● 1 taco seasoning

● 2 cans (10 ounces each) diced tomatoes and green chiles, divided

● 1 can (16 ounces) refried beans

● 2 cups shredded Mexican cheese blend, divided

● 1/4 cup chopped fresh cilantro

● 1 teaspoon hot pepper sauce, optional

● 12 taco shells

● Chopped green onions

 Instructions:

● Preheat the oven to 425°F. In a large skillet, cook beef over medium heat for 6-8 minutes or until no longer pink, breaking into crumbles; drain. Stir in taco seasoning and 1 can of undrained tomatoes; heat through.

● Meanwhile, in a bowl, mix beans, 1/2 cup cheese, cilantro, remaining can of undrained tomatoes and, if desired, pepper sauce. Spread onto bottom of a greased 13x9-inch baking dish.

● Stand taco shells upright over bean mixture. Fill each with 1 tablespoon cheese and about 1/3 cup beef mixture. Bake, covered, 15 minutes.

● Uncover; sprinkle with remaining cheese. Bake, uncovered, 5-7 minutes or until cheese is melted and shells are lightly browned. Sprinkle with green onions.

Cap it with Something Sweet

There’s nothing like bonding with your dad over a bowl of your favorite ice cream. You can elevate your basic ice cream by frying it. Deceptively easy to make, this is a great way to cap off a scrumptious day.

Fried ice cream ingredients:

● 1 pint ice cream

● 1 1/2 tablespoon butter

● 1 1/4 cup corn cereal, crushed

● 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon

● 2 teaspoon granulated sugar

● Whipped cream, for garnish

● Sprinkles, for garnish

● 4 cherries, for garnish

Instructions:

1. Line a small sheet tray with parchment paper and place in the freezer. Scoop ice cream into 4 balls and place on a prepared sheet tray. Keep in the freezer while making cereal mixture, at least 30 minutes.

2. In a medium skillet over medium heat, melt butter. Add corn cereal and cinnamon and cook, stirring occasionally, until the cereal turns golden, 5 to 7 minutes. Remove from heat and stir in sugar. Place in a shallow bowl and let cool.

3. Remove ice cream balls from the freezer and roll in cereal mixture. Top with whipped cream, sprinkles, and a cherry, and serve immediately.

Trese billboards vandalized, or is it just a marketing gimmick?

Wazzup Pilipinas!?

I dont get it sorry.  Whats up with trese?

Netizens lauded the promotional materials of the upcoming series, with some even demanding to catch the “manananggal” responsible for the vandal.

The marketing for Trese is really something else..

Nakakabilib marketing ng Netflix for Trese - from Twitter hashflags, billboard to a "ghost" concert. I remember a local TV executive who looked down on Pinoy comics as source material for TV shows na naging hot topic pa online. Sad that Fil creators won't get the support here.

Never crossed my mind that Netflix will go extreme in promoting TRESE. Incredible minds are joining forces. Amazing! Congratulations!!!

The marketing team for Trese is on a different level.

Sobrang solid ng promotions for Trese. Let’s support our local animators this coming June 11 on Netflix!

Netizens are losing their minds after streaming giant Netflix posted photos of what appears to be “sabotaged and vandalized” billboards of the upcoming Filipino anime series “Trese”.

A graffiti message, which reads “Siyudad namin ito. Layas,” was painted in bold letters on one of the billboards.

Netflix, meanwhile captioned the photos: “What kind of monster would do this??? If you see something, say something — we’re going to find out who did this.”

Trese’s coming to let them know they can’t mess with our city.

Until then, careful where you tread and use #TabiTabiPo to keep the monsters at bay.

Set to premiere on Friday, June 11, 2021, Trese is an anime series based on the graphic novel by Budjette Tan and Kajo Baldisimo. It is set in Manila, where Philippine folklore creatures live amongst humans.

Akala ko totoong vandalize or part lang talaga ng cover nila? The marketing for Trese is really something else..

It's probably the sour graping Jam Magno, hinahanap ng mga mananangal sa Mindanao at dalhin sa Iloilo.

Sara's supporters ran, so Trese's PR and Marketing team can walk.

Everything about Trese is wholesome, until someone decides to fill it with politics.

lol too tired to get into the art and politics are intertwined.

"The universe seeks balance, so does the underworld"

A Filipino comics series that's been adapted into a #NETFLIX anime coming June 11

It's about supernatural crimes in Manila and features Mythological creatures from Filipino folklore!

GO Watch it!

Who’s behind Trese’s marketing strategy??? BRILLIANT! Pakagaling.

It's absolutely unreal how Netflix has raised promo campaigns to another level. and what makes it sweet is the fact that Liza Soberano is part of this project with her name front & center. Salamat Netflix.

Liza Soberano lent her voice for the original anime by Netflix 'Trese'. Another one, Shay Mitchell, for the English voice.

‘I was excited but also scared at the same time. Like I said many time, I was very hesitant. I’m used to acting, using my face to be able to express the emotions that my characters are feeling.’ - Liza Soberano

Introducing Marvel's new Filipino-American shield-bearer

Wazzup Pilipinas!?

Meet Ari Agbayani. Her full name is Arielle per creator.

Marvel's new Filipino-American shield-bearer created by @crashwong, @Astrolimes & @AlannaWrites will debut in The United States of Captain America #4.

Like we get it, her full first name is "Arielle" but really?

"Ari" means genitals in Filipino and also the Philippines and us mainlanders have been affected by American imperialism for forever so badly that it isn't even funny. so what i'm saying is thanks! This fucking sucks!

The costume is so uninspired too. I see no real reason a Filipino would take up Cap's shield. Falcon made sense but her? Nah.

What doesn't sit well for many is the fact FilAms won't understand what kind of representation matters to Filipinos born in the PH. Great we have another Filipino character but not like this. The smallest details do matter.

In regards to the poorly decided name, it's almost like if you made a gay character and named them "Rain Bowe" for the sake of it being symbolic.

Are there people named Ari? Absolutely. It's pronounced differently. However, the name goes as a sort of brand for this character---a character that was created in an attempt to represent. The direct Filipino translation is pretty cringe.

Overall I honestly don't really resonate with this character at all. I appreciate Filipino characters but at this point I don't think it's selfish to ask for cultural sensitivity. I'm not upset at it, just disappointed that the concerns over her name are being downplayed.

Or the concerns of real Filipinos over a character wearing the stars and stripes. It's a sensitive topic. It's hard to see America as open to our kind to begin with as even securing a tourist visa can be difficult for most Filipinos. I can only imagine immigrating.

Let me make it clear that I respectfully acknowledge that this is a Fil-Am character and the purpose is to encourage the idea that an American can be any race but she being a Filipino, natives have the freedom to criticize it based on our history and experience.

People can love and resonate with this character for different reasons but I, like many other natives, can also dislike it for other reasons. What's important is we respect we have different perspectives on the subject.

This is not fucking revolutionary or cool in any way. you could've made any superhero filipino, or even made a new one to accommodate cultural differences and whatnot, and you chose it to be CAPTAIN AMERICA???

Also myself am a pale as shit Filipino but at least make her some level of tan because goddamn Filipino colorism is already hell in itself and this could kind of help reinforce it to be honest

Look i'm just tired of what i assume are Filipino-Americans telling stories that they have no idea just contradict with everything we have in the mainland. like please step back and look at what has happened and IS going on in the country and realize how bad a lot of ur ideas are.

Also stop saying "Filipinx" and "Pinxy" it's fucking stupid just say filipino and pinoy like a normal filipino person IT'S A GENDER NEUTRAL LANGUAGE ASSHOLES.

Okay that's all i'm gonna say sorry if you had to witness me be mad and sorry for the random tangent at the end i just saw the term "Filipinx" thrown around with some of ari's (lol) art and. stop!! ok that's all thank you mwah mwah
