Ellen Tordesillas is an incisive fact-checker and investigative reporter with a robust background in debunking disinformation, as showcased in her role at VERA Files and award-winning exposés. Her commitment to rigorous verification and in-depth reporting has made her a trusted voice across multiple acclaimed news outlets. ​​



Ladies and gentlemen, it is our honor to introduce an esteemed journalist, fact-checker, and advocate for truth in media—Ms. Ellen Tordesillas.


As a trustee and writer for VERA Files, she plays a crucial role in investigative reporting and fact-checking to combat disinformation. She is also a respected columnist for Malaya Business Insight, VERA Files, and Canadian-Filipino.net. Throughout her illustrious career, she has covered vital beats such as education, health, science, foreign affairs, and politics, including Malacañang during the Ramos presidency.


Her commitment to investigative journalism has earned her prestigious recognitions, including the Jaime V. Ongpin Award for Best Investigative Reporting in 1999 for exposing the "Grandmother of all scams" involving the Public Estates Authority-Amari deal. She was also named a Marshall McLuhan Fellow that same year. Additionally, she co-authored the book Hot Money, Warm Bodies – The Downfall of President Joseph Estrada with Australian journalist Greg Hutchinson.
