The Philippines' Breakthrough at the World's Largest Tech Exhibition

The Consumer Electronics Show (CES) 2025 in Las Vegas became a landmark event for the Philippines, showcasing the country’s technological prowess and global competitiveness. Led by the Department of Science and Technology (DOST), the Philippine delegation made waves with groundbreaking innovations, international partnerships, and impressive business prospects.

This achievement was made possible under the Science and Technology Promotion for International Contest and Exhibits (SPICE) Program, backed by the PhilippiNOW: Philippines’ New Opportunities, Worldwide campaign. Through these efforts, Filipino ingenuity was front and center, capturing the attention of global investors, industry leaders, and tech enthusiasts from diverse sectors such as automotive, infrastructure, mining, and hardware.

Global Recognition and Strong Industry Interest

The Philippine booth at CES 2025 turned into a hub of excitement, drawing in an impressive 321 visitors—a testament to the country’s growing influence in the tech space. Interest in Filipino innovations wasn’t just casual—it translated into concrete business opportunities.

One standout success was Engr. Mark Kennedy Bantugon, CEO and inventor of Pili Adheseal, whose sustainable adhesive product attracted a potential order of 3,000 pieces from a hardware company in Miami, USA. Further, over 200,000 potential bulk orders for 2025-2026 were estimated, signaling the strong demand for eco-friendly Filipino technology across international markets.

The innovation showcase also garnered significant attention from major business players in Japan, China, the US, India, and Korea, highlighting the Philippines’ expanding technological footprint in the global industry.

Endorsements from Industry Leaders

Industry leaders and government officials recognized the Philippines’ success at CES 2025.

Engr. Albertson Amante of Batangas State University emphasized the importance of the event, stating, “It showcased the Philippines’ biggest international exhibition of innovation and S&T-oriented research. Our exhibit can compete with other global players.”

Dr. Annabelle Briones, Director of DOST-Industrial Technology Development Institute (DOST-ITDI), lauded the event as an “opportunity for Filipino researchers and scientists to showcase localized technologies with real-world applications.”

Mr. Jeffrey Aborot of DOST-Advanced Science and Technology Institute (DOST-ASTI) noted that international visitors were “surprised by the amount of tech development happening in the Philippines.” Filipino-American attendees also expressed pride and excitement about seeing their homeland represented at CES.

Filipino Innovation Meets Shark Tank

One of the most exciting moments of CES 2025 was the participation of Hiraya Technology Solutions, Inc. in the Shark Tank Casting Call. Engineers Stephen Larcia and Jan Russell Diolata presented their cutting-edge system, which left the Shark Tank team impressed by its market potential. Despite the show’s requirement for a US-based headquarters, the audition alone demonstrated the viability and global appeal of Filipino startups.

High-Profile Partnerships and Collaborations

Beyond showcasing innovations, CES 2025 also served as a platform for strategic partnerships. Several global corporations and organizations expressed interest in working with Filipino innovators, including:

Google (discussions on global innovation policy)

PepsiCo, Inc.

Meta Platforms

Delta Air

Apl.de.Ap Foundation International

Philippine Economic Zone Authority (PEZA)

These connections have the potential to bring Filipino tech startups to new heights by securing investment, market access, and knowledge-sharing opportunities.

DOST’s Commitment to Strengthening Global Presence

DOST Secretary Renato U. Solidum, Jr., the head of the Philippine delegation, played a crucial role in forging new global relationships. His high-profile engagements included:

A meeting with Google’s Karan Bhatia, Global Head of Government Affairs and Public Policy

Participation in the Global Ministers and Ambassadors Luncheon

Attendance at the World Electronics Forum Breakfast Meeting

Representation in the Exclusive Leader in Technology Forum

These interactions solidified the Philippines’ presence in the international tech ecosystem, reinforcing the country’s commitment to becoming a global innovation hub.

The Road Ahead: Sustaining the Momentum

Following the resounding success of CES 2025, DOST is focusing on expanding the impact of Filipino innovations worldwide through:

Fostering global partnerships to bring Filipino inventions to the international market.

Attracting investments to accelerate the commercialization of homegrown technologies.

Strengthening participation in future tech expos to maintain global visibility.

With the government’s continued support, the Philippines is poised to become a major player in the global innovation landscape. The success at CES 2025 is just the beginning, proving that Filipino creativity, resilience, and technological expertise can compete—and thrive—on the world stage.
