Why David D'Angelo Deserves Our Vote for Senator in 2025: A Bold Vision for a Sustainable Philippines

Wazzup Pilipinas!?

In the 2025 elections, we are presented with a unique opportunity to reshape the future of the Philippines. It is no secret that our nation faces a crossroads: escalating environmental degradation, unrestrained corporate greed, and a political landscape often dominated by vested interests. Enter David D’Angelo, National President of the Green Party of the Philippines—a man whose bold vision and unflinching commitment to sustainable development stand as a beacon of hope amid the haze of traditional politics.

David D'Angelo is not your typical politician. He’s not a product of dynastic rule, nor is he a figurehead for big businesses seeking to further their own interests. Instead, he is a grassroots leader—a staunch environmental advocate who has spent years fighting for a cleaner, greener Philippines. He understands that the challenges we face—rising sea levels, disappearing forests, polluted cities—cannot be addressed through short-term political maneuvering. What D’Angelo offers is something sorely missing in today’s politics: a long-term, inclusive, and sustainable approach to governance.

A Champion for the Environment

As climate change becomes an increasingly urgent issue, we need lawmakers who genuinely understand the gravity of the situation. David D’Angelo is such a person. His advocacy for renewable energy, reforestation, and sustainable urban development is not just campaign rhetoric—it is his life’s work. He has tirelessly pushed for environmental reforms that benefit both people and the planet, knowing that the health of our ecosystems is intrinsically tied to our country’s prosperity.

In a Senate full of career politicians, D’Angelo’s presence would be revolutionary. He would bring the fight to stop the destruction of our natural resources to the legislative floor, ensuring that environmental protection is not just an afterthought but a legislative priority. While others make empty promises, David D’Angelo offers real, science-backed solutions that can safeguard the future of our children.

Economic Prosperity Through Sustainability

Critics often claim that environmental protection and economic growth cannot coexist. D'Angelo shatters this myth. He envisions a future where economic prosperity thrives alongside environmental stewardship. His platform goes beyond tree-planting campaigns and symbolic gestures; it encompasses a transformative agenda that includes green job creation, investment in sustainable industries, and incentives for eco-friendly businesses.

By electing D’Angelo, we are not just voting for cleaner air and water; we are voting for an economic future where Filipinos can prosper in industries that respect the environment. Imagine a Philippines where communities thrive on clean energy, where our farmers are empowered by sustainable agricultural practices, and where urban spaces are designed with the welfare of both people and nature in mind. This is the future that David D’Angelo offers—a future where sustainability leads to economic progress, not regression.

A Voice for the People, Not for the Few

David D’Angelo is also a vocal advocate for social justice. His environmental platform is deeply intertwined with his desire to address inequality, uplift marginalized communities, and give a voice to those who are often unheard. For too long, our political system has favored the wealthy and well-connected. D’Angelo seeks to change this by pushing for policies that protect both the environment and the most vulnerable members of our society—indigenous peoples, small-scale farmers, fisherfolk, and urban poor communities who bear the brunt of environmental degradation.

D’Angelo’s commitment to participatory governance—where the people’s voices are genuinely heard and acted upon—sets him apart. He has always stood alongside local communities in their fight against corporate interests that destroy livelihoods in the name of profit. As a senator, he would continue this fight, ensuring that legislation is shaped not just by elite interests, but by the very people who make up the fabric of our nation.

The Leader We Need, The Future We Deserve

In this crucial moment in our nation’s history, the choice is clear. David D’Angelo represents more than just a vote for the environment—he represents a vote for the future. A future where economic growth is sustainable, where nature and humanity coexist in harmony, and where every Filipino has the opportunity to thrive.

The 2025 election is our chance to make a lasting impact. By choosing David D’Angelo, we are not just electing a senator; we are electing a visionary leader who understands that our survival as a nation hinges on our relationship with the planet and each other. We have the opportunity to vote for someone who will challenge the status quo, protect our natural resources, and ensure that future generations inherit a livable, thriving world.

The path to a better future is not easy, but it is one that we must take. With David D’Angelo in the Senate, we can begin that journey. Let us cast our votes wisely—our planet, our people, and our prosperity depend on it.

Online Libraries: Your Key to Information

Wazzup Pilipinas!?

In a world where information drives innovation and progress, having quick access to knowledge is invaluable. Z library is a convenient way to access literature which opens doors to a vast array of books and academic materials. Whether for research, casual reading or self-development online libraries are more than just a modern convenience – they are essential tools for today’s learner. The flexibility they provide makes it easier than ever to find what you need when you need it.

The Advantages of Online Libraries

The ability to access books at any time from anywhere is one of the greatest advantages offered by online libraries. No longer are readers limited by physical spaces or operating hours. With a device and internet connection anyone can enter this virtual world of learning.

For instance students researching history or science enthusiasts searching for detailed studies on nature can explore endless resources without stepping out of their homes.

Online libraries often offer various formats as well. From e-books to audiobooks and interactive PDFs the choices are wide. People with different learning preferences can find something that suits them. These platforms often feature works from multiple languages which means the barriers that might have existed before in accessing foreign publications are now erased.

Features and Types of Online Libraries

Not all online libraries serve the same purpose. Some focus on general reading while others target specific fields such as academic research or professional development. E-libraries can be public or private depending on their use case. Public e-libraries like national archives provide access to a wide array of materials for free. Private platforms may focus on niche topics and charge a membership fee in return for specialized content.

A key feature of these digital spaces is the search function. Online libraries are equipped with powerful search engines allowing readers to locate specific topics or even individual chapters quickly. Whether searching for rare books or niche research papers these libraries simplify the hunt for knowledge.

Beyond simple reading e-libraries also offer annotation features. You can take notes highlight passages or bookmark essential sections within the platform. This transforms the reading experience into an interactive process where users not only absorb information but also engage with it on a deeper level.

The Downsides to Consider

Despite all these advantages online libraries come with a few drawbacks. For example staring at screens for long periods may not be comfortable for everyone. Though e-books are convenient some readers still prefer the tactile experience of holding a physical book.

Additionally not all resources may be available in digital format yet.

Another issue is the need for a stable internet connection. In areas where internet access is limited or expensive using online libraries could pose a challenge. While offline reading modes exist not all platforms offer this feature making constant connectivity a requirement.

A World of Learning Awaits

Ultimately online libraries are reshaping how we interact with knowledge. They offer unparalleled access to a range of materials that physical libraries could never match. Zlibrary for instance allows readers to dive into worlds of fiction, history science and beyond with ease. As more people discover the benefits of these platforms it’s clear they will continue to grow in importance. Whether you are a student professional or casual reader these digital hubs hold the key to unlocking countless opportunities for learning.

The next time you need information, think about exploring an online library. It’s a step toward a more knowledgeable future – where learning knows no boundaries and information is always within reach.

We Must Not Confuse Resilience with Tolerating Abuse

Wazzup Pilipinas!?

A wise person once said that abuse persists because some people allow themselves to be mistreated. Those who are taken advantage of and undervalued often accept being diminished, enabling the cycle to continue.

Take, for instance, our experiences with overloaded public transportation—buses, jeepneys, tricycles, etc. We shouldn’t tolerate drivers or conductors who prioritize profit over passenger safety and comfort. By accepting overcrowding, we empower these individuals to continue disregarding safety standards. Let’s stop riding vehicles where passengers are forced to stand in aisles or cram into spaces, causing discomfort and inconvenience to others.

Modernizing public transportation shouldn’t be limited to upgrading vehicles. We need to reform the behavior of drivers and operators who exploit passengers. Discipline and fairness must be part of this transformation.

Similarly, we should reject overpriced products, particularly in fast-food chains. By refusing to support greedy businesses, we send a clear message that we won’t tolerate exploitation in any form.

True resilience isn’t about enduring abuse; it's about standing up against it. Let’s demand better—not just from our transportation system but from all sectors that seek to take advantage of us.

Distinguishing Fake News: A Critical Approach to Media Credibility and Bias

Wazzup Pilipinas!?

How can we distinguish fake news among the thousands, if not millions, of realities and able to realize how many mainstream media outfits or networks are claiming they are credible but are actually also full of biases and more inclined to corruption by giving more media mileage to only those paying clients and sources of news and stories including political personalities and brands and companies involved in illegal activities, rigged and orchestrated campaigns and unfair practices.

In today’s media-driven world, distinguishing between credible news and fake news has become increasingly challenging. The rise of social media platforms and digital news outlets has democratized information dissemination, allowing everyone, from traditional news organizations to individuals, to publish content. While this has empowered many voices, it has also created a fertile ground for misinformation, disinformation, and the spread of fake news. Adding to the complexity is the realization that mainstream media outlets, which once held the highest standards of journalistic integrity, are not immune to bias and corruption. Many claim to be credible, but their actions often tell a different story, as they promote the interests of paying clients and influential political personalities over the public’s right to truthful reporting.

Understanding Fake News

Fake news refers to deliberately fabricated information designed to mislead, often with the intention of influencing political, social, or economic opinions. This can take the form of sensationalized stories, deepfakes, or distorted facts presented out of context. Fake news typically plays on emotions, using shocking headlines or divisive content to capture attention and go viral, often without regard for factual accuracy.

Some key characteristics of fake news include:

Sensational Headlines:

Fake news stories often have eye-catching headlines that provoke strong emotional reactions, whether shock, anger, or fear.

Lack of Credible Sources:

Many fake news articles do not cite reputable sources or provide evidence for their claims.

Poor Grammar and Spelling:

Often, fake news articles are riddled with spelling mistakes, poor grammar, or awkward sentence construction.

Unverifiable Information:

Fake news stories frequently include vague or unverifiable details, making it difficult to track down the original source of the information.

However, fake news is not only spread by unreliable or unknown websites; it also can be perpetuated by more established media outlets that allow bias or corruption to affect their reporting.

The Bias of Mainstream Media

Mainstream media, once the gatekeepers of truth, have increasingly come under scrutiny for promoting biased narratives. While many outlets still uphold high standards of journalistic integrity, others have been accused of giving disproportionate attention to certain stories, political figures, or corporate interests, often at the expense of objective reporting.

Here’s how mainstream media biases manifest:

Selective Reporting:

Media outlets may choose to cover certain stories while ignoring others, based on their audience’s preferences, political affiliations, or financial interests. This selective reporting creates a skewed perception of reality, where some issues are blown out of proportion, while others are downplayed or ignored entirely.

Framing:

Even when covering the same story, different media outlets may frame the narrative in ways that favor particular viewpoints or parties. For example, a protest might be described as a "peaceful demonstration" in one outlet, while another might call it a "violent riot," depending on the audience they are catering to.

Corporate and Political Influence:

Many media organizations are owned by large corporations or individuals with vested interests in certain industries or political parties. As a result, these organizations may be more likely to give favorable coverage to their owners or advertisers, while ignoring or criticizing their competitors or political opponents.

Paid Media Coverage:

It is not uncommon for political figures, corporations, and brands to pay for positive media coverage. This can range from subtle product placements to full-scale news stories that paint them in a favorable light. In some cases, media outlets are known to charge for “media mileage,” giving more attention to those who can afford to pay for it.

Corruption in Media: Serving Paying Clients and Influential Sources

Media corruption does not always involve direct bribes or illegal activity. Sometimes, it is more insidious, involving the quiet promotion of paying clients and influential figures, while neglecting or downplaying important stories that do not serve the interests of the media outlet or its sponsors.

Advertorials and Sponsored Content:

One of the most common forms of media corruption comes in the form of advertorials and sponsored content. These are advertisements disguised as news stories, meant to look like genuine journalism. Many readers may not realize they are being exposed to paid content, assuming instead that the information comes from an impartial and trustworthy source.

Political Campaigns:

During election seasons, media outlets may give undue attention to candidates or parties that pay for favorable coverage. This leads to an imbalanced portrayal of political options, where those who can afford more media exposure are presented as more viable or popular than they truly are. Media coverage can be manipulated to make it appear as though certain candidates have more public support than they actually do, influencing voter behavior.

Corporate Manipulation:

Similarly, large corporations with deep pockets may sway media coverage to downplay negative stories about them or inflate the significance of their achievements. Brands involved in controversies may use their financial power to silence negative press or pay for stories that improve their public image. This often comes at the expense of smaller competitors or marginalized voices who cannot afford to buy media attention.

Conflicts of Interest:

Journalists and media outlets often face conflicts of interest when they are financially tied to the subjects they cover. For example, a news outlet that is heavily funded by the oil industry might be less inclined to report on environmental issues or might frame such issues in a way that minimizes the industry’s role in causing harm.

Political Agendas:

Beyond financial interests, some media outlets align themselves with specific political ideologies or figures. These outlets may push a particular political agenda, providing favorable coverage to their preferred politicians or policies while undermining or vilifying the opposition. This leads to partisan journalism, where the public is only exposed to one side of the story.

Spotting Media Bias and Corruption

It is vital for news consumers to be aware of these potential biases and corrupt practices in the media. Here are some strategies to identify biased or corrupt media:

Compare Multiple Sources:

One of the most effective ways to identify bias is to compare how different media outlets cover the same story. If a story is reported differently across outlets, it may indicate that certain details are being emphasized or downplayed for political or financial reasons.

Check the Funding:

Investigate who owns or funds the media outlet. If an outlet is owned by a large corporation or political figure, it may be more likely to reflect the views or interests of those who fund it.

Look for Advertorials:

Be aware of advertorials and sponsored content. These are often marked with small disclaimers, but they are designed to look like genuine news. If a story seems overly positive or promotional, it may be paid content rather than objective reporting.

Analyze Language:

Pay attention to the language used in news reports. Biased outlets often use emotionally charged language to influence readers' opinions. For example, describing a protest as a "mob" versus a "group of demonstrators" can convey very different impressions of the same event.

Seek Independent Journalism:

Look for independent media outlets that are less reliant on corporate or political funding. These outlets often have more freedom to report on controversial or underreported issues without fear of losing financial backing.

Be Skeptical of Unverified Claims:

If a news story includes vague or unverifiable information, be cautious. Credible journalism should provide clear sources for its claims, and readers should be able to trace back to the original data or evidence.

Conclusion

The media landscape today is a complex and often contradictory environment, where both fake news and biased reporting thrive. While many mainstream outlets continue to uphold journalistic standards, the influence of corporate and political interests, along with the rise of paid media coverage, has blurred the lines between objective reporting and promotion. In this environment, it is crucial for readers to take an active role in distinguishing credible news from falsehoods, and to be aware of the biases that shape the stories they consume.

To navigate this information maze, one must adopt a critical mindset, cross-reference sources, and always question the motivations behind the news being presented. By doing so, we can better protect ourselves from the pitfalls of fake news and biased reporting and demand higher standards from the media outlets we rely on for information.

The BER Months Have Arrived: What to Expect Across the Nation

Wazzup Pilipinas!?

The BER months are definitely here, in fact we're already a few days to go before Christmas, and with their arrival came a tidal wave of anticipation and excitement that swept through every corner of the Philippines. As we continue to dwell within this magical time, a season like no other, we should have already prepared for an array of emotions, events, and challenges that will shape our nation in the months ahead.

Family and Community: Rekindling Bonds & Traditions

In the homes and hearts of Filipinos, the start of September signals more than the approach of Christmas—it's a time to reconnect. Families are already dusting off their parols, Christmas trees are being assembled, and the soft, sentimental notes of Jose Mari Chan fill the air. But beyond the festivities lies a deeper sense of togetherness. Communities, after a long year of trials, are eager to unite, embrace their traditions, and prepare for the joyful gatherings ahead. Yet, with this comes the possibility of heightened vigilance, as the pandemic continues to be a backdrop to our lives.

Economy: The Surge of Spending and Saving

As shoppers flood malls and online platforms in search of the perfect gifts, the economy is expected to feel the heat. The rise in consumer spending will undoubtedly boost retail, but as inflation continues to linger, families will face the challenge of balancing spending with saving. The government and businesses alike will need to address how to keep the economy afloat while ensuring prices remain stable for the everyday Filipino.

Traffic and Travel: The Holiday Gridlock

From the hustle of Metro Manila to the quieter provinces, expect one thing: traffic. As the holiday rush begins earlier each year, the streets are set to be more congested than ever. With international borders open, Filipinos abroad may flood back home, and the nation’s airports and bus terminals will brim with excitement—and delays. For local travelers, it may be time to book those trips early, but brace for packed itineraries and a surge in demand for flights and accommodations.

Workforce: The Grind Before and After the Break

In every office and workplace, the countdown to the Christmas break has begun. But before that long-awaited vacation, there’s work to be done. Deadlines will tighten, stress may rise, and the push to finish strong will dominate many industries. But there's a flip side—companies will also host grand celebrations, with year-end parties symbolizing triumph and camaraderie after months of hard work. However, employee burnout may be lurking for those who struggle to find balance in the season’s rush.

Government and Politics: Promises & Preparations

With elections behind (previous election) and Infront of us (this coming May 2025), the BER months provide a crucial moment for the government to prove its worth. From preparing for calamities that tend to strike during this season to delivering on economic recovery promises, all eyes are on how well the nation's leaders will manage the challenges of the holiday surge. There’s a heightened expectation for improved public services—better roads, safer streets, and a more efficient healthcare system as Filipinos brace for the Christmas frenzy...and many of aspiring candidates and Re-electionist are out there again, as early as months ago, making double, if not triple, effort to get our attention and support for the coming election next year.

Natural Disasters: Staying Prepared Amid Joy

The beauty of the season is tempered by the reality that the BER months bring the peak of typhoon season. Communities must remain vigilant as storms could strike with little warning. Disaster preparedness efforts will need to be ramped up, with both government and citizens working hand-in-hand to ensure that joy isn’t marred by tragedy.

The Spirit of Bayanihan: A Shining Light

Through it all, one thing remains constant—the indomitable spirit of the Filipino. As we enter these final months of the year, no matter the challenges that may arise—whether economic uncertainty, natural disasters, or the stresses of everyday life—our collective sense of bayanihan will shine through. The BER months are not just about Christmas; they are about how, as a nation, we stand resilient, hopeful, and united.

Let the countdown begin. This is the season of joy, love, and perseverance. The BER months are upon us—are you ready? 🎄

“A critical pillar in the PH startup ecosystem”: Geeks on a Beach is back in Cebu in its 7th year

Wazzup Pilipinas?!

Geeks On A Beach (GOAB), the premier international tech startup conference in the Philippines where innovation and inspiration converge in one event, will be back in Cebu, Philippines, in its 7th year on November 13-15, 2024.

With over 500 entrepreneurs, investors, and global leaders expected to attend, GOAB 2024 is poised to be another milestone event in the tech and startup calendar. This year’s GOAB focuses on the latest trends and challenges in the tech industry and the positive impact of the government’s Innovative Startup Act (ISA). It also highlights DICT’s years-long work in unlocking market potential for local tech startups and positioning the Philippines as the next frontier for innovation in Southeast Asia.

Since its launch in 2012, GOAB has become a critical pillar in the Philippine startup ecosystem. It aims to boost tech startup and investment opportunities in the country and the Southeast Asian region.

A critical pillar in the PH startup system

The 7th GOAB is set to take place at the JPark Island Resort & Waterpark in Mactan Island, Cebu. The conference’s second installment, held in 2014 after its inaugural launch in Boracay Island, was also held in Cebu.

“Cebu is known for its economic growth and world-class beaches and is hence the perfect place to hold GOAB, an event that has taken the position as a critical pillar of the tech startup ecosystem in the Philippines and beyond,” said Dave Overton, GOAB co-founding organizer, and Symph founder and CEO.

Cebu earned the moniker “Ceboom” in the 1990s for becoming the site of a massive expansion of businesses, shopping complexes, and exports. Since the 2000s, it has also become a leading investment destination in the high-tech service sector.

GeeksPH organizes GOAB in partnership with the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) to highlight the development and potential of the country’s startup ecosystem.

“GOAB is essentially a non-profit organization committed to growing the tech and startup landscape by bringing together a diverse set of stakeholders, from founders and government agencies to creatives and venture capitalists,” said Overton.

The much-anticipated international conference promises an unparalleled convergence of startup ecosystem stakeholders while offering a unique blend of serious conversation and relaxed networking.

Tangible benefits for attendees

“GOAB delivers tangible benefits to attendees in terms of catalyzing inspiration and a venue for networking and collaboration that can lead to success in the long term. We foster a supportive community for startups and entrepreneurs,” said Tina Amper, GOAB founding organizer.

“Last year’s GOAB in Panglao brought new openings to some of the big names of the startup community in the Philippines. GOAB was also instrumental to the long-term success stories of tech upstarts who found their footing in the startup world by participating in past GOAB conferences,” added Amper.

The event starts on November 13 with in-depth masterclasses from international industry experts. These two-hour workshops will explore essential topics related to tech, startups, and design.

The main conference, which will be held November 14-15, will feature a dynamic agenda, including keynote presentations and breakout sessions covering various sectors, such as Fintech, EduTech, HealthTech, AgriTech, and ClimateTech.

There will also be investor and founder roundtable discussions, exhibits, business matching, networking opportunities, open-area sessions, and happy hour mixers.

Call for participation

Leading the rich lineup of speakers are some of the most influential voices in the tech and startup space, including Jojo Flores, Co-founder of Plug & Play; Mel Nava, Co-founder & CEO, 1Export; Crystal Lee Gonzalez, CEO & Co-founder, Noneaway; Christina Laskowksi, Strategic Advisor, STAC-Silicon Valley; Mohan Belani, CEO & Co-founder, e27; Jen Bilango, Country Manager, Coins.ph; Peter Kovacz, Co-founder, Global Startup Awards; Gui Faria, Co-founder, Penbrothers; Josef Werker, Co-founder, Humble Sustainability and Partner, Buko Ventures; Franco Varona, Founder, Foxmont Capital Partners; Ksther Lim, CEO, The People Decoder; Jay Fajardo, Executive Director, Ideaspace Ventures and QBO Innovation; Diane Eustaquio, Director, PINVEST; Mia Bulatao, COO, Great Deals E-Commerce Corp.; Erika Aquino, Global Investor & Strategic Advisor; and Jeremy Au, COO, Lucent & Host, Brave Southeast Asia Tech Podcast.

Investor Alert: SEC Updates Investment Warning on Crypto Assets

The SEC’s Office of Investor Education and Advocacy is releasing this Investor Alert due to the ongoing exploitation of the popularity of crypto assets by fraudsters. These scammers are increasingly targeting retail investors, capitalizing on the widespread enthusiasm and interest in digital currencies. By leveraging the allure and perceived profitability of crypto assets, these criminals can deceive and draw unsuspecting individuals into a variety of fraudulent schemes. This alert aims to address and mitigate the risks faced by investors in this rapidly evolving market.

Crypto assets encompass a broad spectrum of digital assets, commonly referred to as cryptocurrencies, crypto, coins, and tokens. Each of these assets operates on underlying blockchain technology, which offers certain advantages such as decentralization and security. However, this same technology can also be exploited by malicious actors to conduct fraudulent activities with relative anonymity. The SEC's goal with this alert is to raise awareness among investors about the inherent risks associated with investing in these digital assets. They emphasize the importance of conducting thorough research and exercising caution when considering investments in the crypto space.

By providing detailed information and guidelines, the SEC aims to empower investors to recognize and avoid potential scams. This includes understanding the characteristics of legitimate investment opportunities versus fraudulent schemes, the importance of verifying the credibility of crypto asset platforms, and the necessity of being skeptical of unsolicited investment offers. Ultimately, the SEC's proactive approach in issuing this Investor Alert is to ensure that investors are better informed and protected in the dynamic and often unpredictable world of crypto assets.

Fraudsters frequently leverage innovations and emerging technologies to execute investment scams, particularly in the realm of crypto asset securities-related investments. These criminals exploit the novelty and complexity of these digital assets to deceive unsuspecting investors. Despite the concerted efforts of federal and state regulators to bring enforcement actions against such fraudulent activities, retrieving money from these fraudsters remains a significant challenge. This difficulty arises from the intricate nature of tracing and recovering funds within the digital landscape of crypto assets.

Fraudsters employ a wide range of strategies to persuade investors to part with their hard-earned money. Understanding these tactics is crucial for safeguarding your investments, particularly in the rapidly evolving and often confusing world of crypto assets. To help you stay vigilant and protect your finances, here are five key warning signs to watch out for, which can prevent you from falling victim to crypto asset scams.

5 Ways Fraudsters May Lure Victims Into Scams Involving Crypto Asset Securities

1. Fraudsters Connect With You on Social Media Platforms or Through a Supposedly Accidental Text Message, and Then Gain Your Trust.

Fraudsters frequently exploit social media platforms and other communication channels to initiate contact with potential victims, often posing as old friends or making accidental introductions. These scammers quickly move conversations to private channels, where they build trust through friendship or romantic relationships. Once trust is established, they lure victims into investing in supposedly lucrative opportunities, often involving crypto assets, by directing them to fake websites or apps. Initially, victims may see fake profits and even withdraw small amounts, furthering their trust. However, when attempting to withdraw larger sums, victims are met with excuses or demands for additional payments to cover fees or taxes. Ultimately, these scams, sometimes referred to as "pig butchering scams," result in victims losing their entire investments with no possibility of recovery.

2. Fraudsters Exploit the Hype Around Emerging Technologies Such as Artificial Intelligence (AI).

Fraudsters may exploit the hype around artificial intelligence (AI) to lure investors into crypto asset scams. They use AI-related buzzwords and fake claims about AI-driven investment opportunities to entice you, with the real aim of stealing your money. Additionally, scammers may use AI to create convincing but fraudulent websites, marketing materials, or even deep fakes of celebrities and loved ones to gain your trust and persuade you to invest. Stay vigilant and skeptical of investment opportunities that heavily promote new technologies like AI.

3. Fraudsters Impersonate or Exploit Trusted Sources.

It's crucial to remain vigilant against communications that may falsely claim to be from official U.S. government sources, including the SEC. Always verify the authenticity of any message before providing personal information. With advancements in AI technology, fraudsters have become more adept at impersonating trusted individuals and organizations, heightening the risk of scams. Be cautious, especially if you receive messages from friends or family that seem unusual, as these could be the result of hacked accounts or deepfake technologies. Protect yourself by confirming the identity of the sender through reliable channels before engaging in any financial discussions or transactions. Stay informed and safeguard your personal information to avoid falling victim to these increasingly sophisticated schemes.

4. Fraudsters May Pump Up the Price of a Crypto Asset and Then Sell at Your Expense.

pump-and-dump schemes involving crypto assets, particularly memecoins, are a serious risk for investors. Fraudsters manipulate these coins by creating hype on social media and encouraging others to buy in, only to sell their holdings for profit before the price crashes. This often leaves unsuspecting investors with significant losses. To safeguard your investments, it’s essential to avoid making decisions based solely on social media information. Always conduct thorough research and rely on credible sources before engaging in any financial activities related to cryptocurrencies. Stay informed and cautious to protect your assets from such scams.

5. Fraudsters Demand Additional Costs That They Falsely Claim Will Allow You to Withdraw From Your Account, or to Recover Losses.

Investment scams, particularly those involving crypto asset securities, often involve advance fee fraud, where fraudsters require you to pay bogus fees to access your funds. They may falsely claim that your account has been frozen due to regulatory issues, pressuring you to pay substantial amounts to "unfreeze" it. Unfortunately, if you comply, you are likely to lose both your initial investment and the additional payment. To protect yourself, be wary of any requests for upfront fees or payments and always verify claims independently before taking any action. Stay informed and cautious to avoid falling victim to these deceptive schemes.

Fraudsters may also approach you if you've already suffered losses from bankruptcy or a previous scam. They might request your private key to access your crypto assets or ask you to invest more money or crypto, promising to "help" you recover your losses. In truth, if you comply, you are unlikely to regain your initial investment and will probably fall victim to another scam.

Avoid getting swept up in the fear of missing out (FOMO) on what appears to be a new or "cutting-edge" investment opportunity. If you’re thinking about investing in crypto asset securities, be vigilant for the tactics mentioned earlier and other red flags that may indicate a scam. Vingroup's Customer-Centric Philosophy: The Core of Vietnam's Largest Private Conglomerate

Vingroup, Vietnam’s largest private conglomerate, has secured market leadership in various sectors by focusing heavily on customer satisfaction. Its operations, from real estate to technology and beyond, are deeply rooted in a customer-centric philosophy, which has played a key role in its success.

From the gleaming high-rises of Vinhomes to the futuristic VinFast electric cars zipping through traffic, Vingroup’s presence is ubiquitous across Vietnam's dynamic landscape. This sprawling conglomerate, the nation's largest private enterprise, has cemented its presence in sectors as diverse as real estate, technology, hospitality, healthcare, and education, etc.  Yet, Vingroup's ascent to dominance isn't solely attributed to ambitious expansion or diversified investments. Instead, it's a tale of unwavering commitment to a customer-centric philosophy, a mantra woven into the very DNA of the company.

The DNA of Vingroup
Vingroup's customer-centric philosophy is more than just a marketing slogan; it's deeply ingrained in the company's culture and guides every decision – from product development and customer service interactions to market expansion.

This dedication to the customer is not a recent development; it's been ingrained in Vingroup's DNA since its humble beginnings as Technocom in Ukraine in 1993. Their initial foray into the market with instant noodles presented a unique challenge: Ukrainian consumers were skeptical of the novel concept of a food product that could be ready to eat after mere minutes in boiling water.

Rather than resorting to traditional marketing tactics, founder Pham Nhat Vuong adopted a hands-on approach, directly engaging with potential customers to demonstrate the noodles' preparation and highlight their convenience. This direct interaction and customer education proved crucial, leading to widespread product acceptance.

This early experience cemented Vingroup's understanding that success lies in forging genuine connections with customers, going beyond simply selling a product to understanding and addressing their needs and concerns.

A poignant example of this is a letter Pham Nhat Vuong received from a Ukrainian veteran, expressing gratitude for how Technocom’s instant noodles had helped his family through tough times. The veteran's words, "Thank God, thanks to that, it's easier to swallow other food," underscored the profound impact the company could have on people's lives.

Customer-Centricity in Action
Before embarking on ambitious projects like the Vinpearl resort chain, Pham Nhat Vuong immersed himself in the world of hospitality through "field missions" to successful ventures in Thailand and Singapore. The firsthand insights gleaned from observing customer interactions and experiences proved invaluable in shaping Vinpearl's offerings, ensuring they catered to the unique desires and expectations of Vietnamese families and tourists.

Vingroup's attentiveness to evolving customer needs is evident in its strategic move into the electric vehicle space in Vietnam through VinFast. Recognizing the growing global demand for sustainable transportation and the specific preferences of Vietnamese consumers, the company has developed a range of electric vehicles that seamlessly blend cutting-edge technology with features tailored to the local market.

Customer satisfaction remains paramount, as demonstrated by VinFast's decision to enhance support for existing gasoline vehicle owners even after shifting its focus entirely to electric vehicles.

"With VinFast gasoline cars, we not only maintain our existing commitments but also enhance them with even more beneficial policies and services," affirmed Pham Nhat Vuong in a 2022 interview with VnExpress. "For instance, we've extended the warranty period to 10 years, which is two to three times the industry standard, and introduced a convenient Mobile Service option. We've also increased our spare parts inventory by 50% compared to usual practice.”

This dedication to after-sales support is fundamental to VinFast's identity. The company has enshrined "excellent after-sales service" as one of its three core values, alongside premium-quality cars and inclusive pricing. This customer-centric philosophy has proven instrumental in VinFast's expansion into North America and Europe and is now driving its entry into the Southeast Asian market.

In the Philippines, VinFast continues to adhere to this customer-centric philosophy by offering unique options like a flexible battery subscription program, designed to address concerns about battery ownership and cost.

Additionally, VinFast prioritizes customer peace of mind throughout the EV ownership journey by providing market-leading policies, such as a comprehensive 7-year/160,000 km warranty for the recently launched VF 5 and VF 3 models.

Vingroup's customer-centric approach has propelled the company to market leadership across multiple sectors in Vietnam. This dominance has not only translated into economic success but has also had a significant social impact, creating jobs and contributing to community initiatives.

The conglomerate’s success story underscores the transformative power of a customer-centric philosophy. By deeply understanding and prioritizing customer needs at the outset, Vingroup has built a diverse and thriving business empire. This approach positions it for sustained growth and influence.

Gary Valenciano Shines at "Beyond Measure" Concert, Celebrating CBN Asia's 30th Anniversary

Wazzup Pilipinas!?

Impressive performance of Gary Valenciano, Mr. Pure Energy, regardless of his age, and of the other performers who voluntarily shared their singing prowess and other talents like hosting, dancing, and more.. at the Beyond Measure concert held at the Araneta Coliseum last September 24, 2024 and organized by CBN Asia in celebration of their 30th Anniversary. Ross Flores Del Rosario, founder of Wazzup Pilipinas, attended and enjoyed the concert of praise and worship to God almighty.

On the evening of September 24, 2024, the Araneta Coliseum was filled with an undeniable sense of excitement and praise as thousands gathered for "Beyond Measure," a concert celebrating the 30th anniversary of CBN Asia. The event was a spectacular showcase of talent, heartfelt worship, and an inspiring testament to God's goodness over the past three decades. As the founder of Wazzup Pilipinas, I was privileged to witness this awe-inspiring evening firsthand, and it was nothing short of extraordinary.

One of the most anticipated performances of the night was from none other than the legendary Gary Valenciano, affectionately known as Mr. Pure Energy. At 60 years old, Gary’s energy, passion, and unwavering commitment to his faith left everyone in awe. From the moment he stepped onto the stage, it was clear that his age was just a number. His electric performance was a reminder that when it comes to praising God, the heart knows no limits.

Gary ended his set with a powerful rendition of “Shout for Joy,” instantly energizing the crowd with his signature upbeat sound and infectious energy. His voice, still as strong and soulful as ever, soared across the Coliseum as he led the audience in a night of worship that transcended generations. Every movement, every note was delivered with the same intensity and fervor that he has become known for throughout his illustrious career. Watching him on stage, it was easy to forget the years that had passed since he first became a household name in the Philippines.

But Gary was not the only highlight of the evening. The "Beyond Measure" concert featured a stellar lineup of performers, like Dulce, Sam Concepcion, Morissette, Donny Pangilinan, Gab Valenciano, Reverb Worship PH and a lot more too many to mention all, each one offering their unique talents as an offering of praise. From powerful vocal performances to mesmerizing dance numbers, the night was a true celebration of God’s gift of creativity and artistry.

Standout performance came from everyone who went on stage, whose heartfelt songs of worship moved the audience to tears and appreciation. Their delicate, emotional delivery of heartfelt songs created an intimate moment amidst the grandeur of the night, reminding everyone of the personal and transformative nature of God's love. Their voices, both tender and powerful, were a reminder that worship can be as much a whisper of faith as it is a shout of praise.

Memorable moments came from the upbeat yet soulful performances of the other younger artists like those belonging to Reverb, whose powerful vocals filled the arena with an undeniable spirit of joy. Their electrifying renditions of their original songs left the crowd inspired and eager to join in worship.

The concert definitely featured a dynamic collaboration between top and rising singers, both young and not so young. Their vibrant, high-energy performances elevated the night to new heights, encouraging everyone in the audience to get up on their feet and dance in praise of God’s goodness. These moments of collective worship were nothing short of awe-inspiring, as thousands lifted their hands and voices in unison, filling the Coliseum with an overwhelming sense of unity and faith.

Special appearances from popular personalities and influencers further enriched the night. Each artist who graced the stage did so not for personal glory but to point hearts toward the ultimate purpose of the evening: glorifying God.

The audience even had some political personalities like 2nd District of Cavite Representative Lani Mercado Revilla and Senator Joel Villanueva.

As I watched the concert unfold, I was reminded of the immense power that music and performance have in drawing people closer to God. Every performer that night, from the most seasoned veterans like Gary Valenciano to the rising stars of today, embodied the heart of worship in their own unique ways. It was a beautiful representation of how God uses talent and creativity to impact lives and bring people together.

The "Beyond Measure" concert was more than just a night of music and celebration; it was a declaration of God’s faithfulness. CBN Asia’s 30 years of ministry have touched countless lives, and this concert was a fitting tribute to the organization’s mission of sharing God’s love and message of hope through media. Their commitment to the Filipino people, through shows like The 700 Club Asia, has been a beacon of light, especially during times of uncertainty and hardship.

As I left the Araneta Coliseum that night, my heart was full, not just from the incredible performances but from the overwhelming sense of God’s presence throughout the evening. The "Beyond Measure" concert was a reminder that no matter the challenges we face, we can always rely on God’s unmeasurable grace, mercy, and love to see us through. It was truly a night to remember, and I am deeply grateful to have been part of such a momentous celebration of faith and praise.

Thank you, CBN Asia, for 30 incredible years of service, and here’s to many more!

Of course, Hong Kong: Pinoys Share their Favorite Hidden Gems in the City

Wazzup Pilipinas!?

Discover Hidden Gems in Hong Kong: Filipino Locals Share Their Top Picks

There are plenty of recommendations online about where to go in Hong Kong, but nothing compares to insights from those who’ve truly embraced the city. We’ve talked with four Filipinos who’ve called Hong Kong home for nearly a decade. Discover why they swear by their favorite spots and get inspired to explore the city like a local:

Dive into the arts scene with Reana Bachiller

Illustration artist Reana Bachiller has her finger on the pulse of Hong Kong’s arts and culture scene. Coming from a very traditional Filipino background, she was hesitant to pursue a future in art, but it was in Hong Kong where her story as a creative mind truly began. Reana had since participated in various exhibitions like Affordable Art Fair, and collaborated with HKWALLS and Casetify.

Reana doesn’t gatekeep her art endeavors, either. She raves endlessly about the bustling art scene in the city. If you’re into DIY, she recommends giving Amazing Neon a visit. “You get to create your own neon sign and take it home!” she explains. When it comes to immersive digital art, Reana points to Arte M. “A captivating and beautiful experience that lets you escape reality,” are the words she uses to describe the exhibition. The core concept of Arte M interprets the subject and space of nature as media art under the theme of “eternal nature” that is suitable for art enthusiasts of all ages.

Get your nature fix with Rob Fogerty

Think Hong Kong is all skyscrapers and neon lights? Rugby player and adventure seeker Rob Fogerty is here to show another side of the city. To Rob, Hong Kong and its different facets have always been about the freedom to pursue sports, develop friendships, and travel. “The city’s natural beauty is more impressive than many people realize. You just need to know where to look,” Rob says. For him, Victoria Peak Lugard Road is the ultimate spot to catch stunning views, get your daily steps in, and find some peace in the middle of the city. For those who prefer the calming presence of water, Silvermine Bay Beach and Waterfall are where you can find your next favorite spot and travelers can get to both so easily.

Rob also believes that the eclectic city, with both its towering skyscrapers and nature trails, helped him to embrace his Filipino heritage even more. “My roots have been strengthened here, and I am proud to be amongst many Filipinos working in a variety of industries in such a diverse city.” Known for their hardworking, hospitable, and kind nature, Filipinos embody qualities that he strives to live out every day. But his love for nature goes beyond the views that gave him a sense of purpose. For a coffee break surrounded by nature, he recommends The Hideout, a hidden gem he thinks everyone should visit.

Eat like a local with Jen Balisi

Foodie alert! As a content creator and owner of a hip Filipino restaurant in Hong Kong aptly named “Barkada”, Jen knows exactly where to find Hong Kong’s best-kept culinary secrets. “Hong Kong’s food scene is renowned, but the real gems are often tucked away in unexpected places,” she said. Her blog and Instagram account are treasure maps that lead to some of the city’s most exciting food joints. But more than just recommendations, Jen believes that her blog was where her life took a turn for the better. It all started back in 2011 when she created her food blog, Indulgent Eats, as she has always been passionate about sharing her dining adventures and the Filipino cuisine she grew up eating through her social media platforms which now boast over 400,000 fans.

Hong Kong was another huge stepping stone for her culinary career. “While I moved to Hong Kong in 2017, it wasn’t until the pandemic that I wrote my cookbook Indulgent Eats at Home which included a number of Filipino recipes,” she adds. And since she’s been at it for years, Jen is an expert on all things yummy in Hong Kong. One of her top picks is Tai On Coffee & Tea Shop, which offers the perfect blend of vintage cha chaan teng interiors with modern menu items like molten lava egg tarts and a decadent pineapple bun with matcha white chocolate. And if you’re in the mood for a taste of history, don’t miss Tai Ping Koon, one of the oldest restaurants in Hong Kong. Their Swiss wings are to die for, and it’s one of the oldest restaurants in the world” Jen gushes. If you’re indecisive, Baseball 02 gives a unique spin to your basic food hall place. “There’s a curated collection of Hong Kong and international best food and drink experiences, so don’t miss out on that,” Jen says. And if it’s casual-as-casual-can-get that you’re looking for, Sing Kee is where it’s at. Jen goes on to explain that traditional outdoor eateries are big in Hong Kong, and they’re known as dai pai dong.

Shop ‘til you drop with Paul Sunga

Meet Paul, a fashion photographer whose keen eye for style extends beyond his work. Paul, who never shies away from a challenge, sees Hong Kong as his oyster, stating, “Hong Kong has always been my lucky city for discovering the right opportunities and achieving success. I moved here to embark on a career as a fashion photographer, drawn by the glam and glitz that fueled my thirst and hunger for creativity.” If it had not been for his major life decision to move to Hong Kong, he wouldn’t be where he is now. Bringing with him his Filipino work ethic, characterized by unwavering drive and determination, he considers himself fortunate to collaborate with numerous international brands and celebrities, allowing the vibrant city to become his bridge to the global fashion scene. He is incredibly grateful to this place he now calls home for all the doors it has opened and the dreams it has helped him realize.

When asked about his favorite spots for shopping and fun on his days off, he’s quick to recommend Glocal Mahjong at PMQ. “Skip the typical malls and head to PMQ,” Paul suggests. He’s amazed at the thought that a place once used as quarters for police officers and their families has now become a creative hub, home to unique shops like Glocal Mahjong where visitors can learn how to play Mahjong 101 and customize their own tiles – sparking new ideas for creative professionals like him. Paul also shares that he loves to explore Sham Shui Po, specifically Apliu Street. “It’s the ultimate spot for a fun day out – cafe hopping to discover hidden gems, hunting for vintage finds, or even getting hands-on at a DIY artisan soap workshop,” he adds.
