Wazzup Pilipinas!?
As a Ka-Biyahero on the Biyaheng South Experiential Tour 2024, I had the incredible opportunity to immerse myself in the history and culture of Cavite alongside fellow influencers and media partners. This tour, organized by Metro Pacific Tollways South (MPT South) in partnership with the Department of Tourism (DOT) Region IV-A (CALABARZON) and the Provincial Government of Cavite, was an adventure filled with discoveries, stories, and local experiences that I’ll never forget.
Day 1: Exploring Silang and Tagaytay
Our journey began at the MPT South Hub, a stunning model of sustainability with its Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Gold Certification. The solar panels, biophilic design, and EV charging stations made it clear that this isn’t just a headquarters—it’s a testament to eco-friendly innovation.
Next, we traveled to Shambala Silang, where the Tawid Gallery opened our eyes to the indigenous arts and crafts of the region. The traditional pieces on display helped us connect with the heritage of Cavite in a meaningful way. Afterward, we enjoyed a unique dining experience at Siglo Moderno Filipino. The “Lakbay Lokal Platter,” featuring Laing Dinamita, Sisiglaw Salad, and Himagsikan wings, showcased local flavors with a modern twist, creating a true culinary adventure.

In the afternoon, we reached the iconic Taal Vista Hotel, where we didn’t just relax but dove into the rich history of Tagaytay. The hotel’s history walk tour was a fascinating journey through time, from the origins of the Taal Volcano to the hotel’s enduring legacy. To cap off the day, we had a blast at Sky Ranch Tagaytay before indulging in a delicious Japanese dinner at Suteki, adding an international flavor to our Filipino-centric day.
Day 2: Discovering Maragondon
On our second day, we headed to the peaceful town of Maragondon. The tranquil Maragondon Balsa River Cruise offered us a relaxing start to the day, with a lunch that highlighted local flavors in a serene riverside setting.
After lunch, we visited the Bonifacio Trial House, where we gained a deeper understanding of the region’s pivotal role in Philippine history as we walked in the footsteps of national hero Andres Bonifacio. The experience brought history to life in a profound way.
One of the most memorable parts of the tour was the Likhang Maragondon Bamboo Weaving Workshop. We got hands-on experience learning the intricate art of bamboo weaving from local artisans, creating our own placemats. It was incredible to participate in a tradition that’s been passed down for generations and to witness firsthand how this community is preserving their cultural heritage.
We ended our journey with a delightful snack at Lolo Claro’s Restaurant, wrapping up two days of exploration, learning, and unforgettable experiences.
