Enjoying our Japanese Food Feast at Ikkoryu Fukuoka Ramen Megamall

Wazzup Pilipinas!

Aside from their delectably satisfying six types of ramen that are bursting with flavors and  perfect to have at any time of the day, Ikkoryu Fukuoka Ramen also serves very tasty and filling rice meals.

Established in 1970, the brand is a concept launched by Yamagoya Ramen and specializes in Chikuho noodles, Tonkotsu soup, Gyoza, and Chashu roast pork.

Both their ramen and rice meals are affordable enough for every Filipino to enjoy.

These rice meals featuring our favorite Japanese dishes like the Kimchi Yakimeshi, the Gyu Don, the Katsu that comes in four variants (plain, garlic, cheese and Curry) and even my all time favorite Ebi Ten Don never failed to impress. I won't hesitate to return for more.

To see all the six types of Tonkotsu ramen ( Original, Ajitama, Black Garlic, Tantan, Spicy Tobanjan, and Miso), watch this:

Totally Instagrammable because the food preparations are very visually appealing, every bite would leave you wanting for more yet already satisfied because of the generous servings, and super budget-friendly because of their very affordable prices!

They have a very comfy ambiance that would make you want to stay and eat more while enjoying the company of your friends, family or colleagues! Sharing our stories while dining on these flavors of Japan.

Sinimot nga namin ang lahat ng inorder that day kahit busog na kami from just the ramen alone...plus the Gyoza and Chicken Karaage that we added.

Below is the video of the different ramens along with the Gyoza and Chicken Karaage.

Would you believe na nakapag TikTok dance pa kami sa harap ng restaurant? Dancing to a portion of one of the soundtracks (Paligoy Ligoy) of Diary ng Panget which was sang by Nadine Lustre, was our closing at the Megamall branch of Ikkoryu Fukouka Ramen.

Nagulantang ang lahat ng mga dumadaan sa SM Megamall branch. ....hahaha!!!

You can also watch this to see the rest of the dishes specifically the rice meals:

Come visit their branches like the one at the upper ground level Building B of SM Megamall where we had our late lunch. They also have branches at Shangri-La Plaza, SM Aura Premiere, Powerplant Mall, SM North EDSA, and SM City Bacoor.

Manila: Born from the waters

Wazzup Pilipinas!?

Instituto Cervantes de Manila will hold an exhibit by Spanish artist Teresa Esteban, titled “Manila: Born from the waters”, in its center in Intramuros (calle Real, Plaza San Luis, Intramuros, Manila). The exhibit will be open every day starting February 23 from 8AM to 6PM until April 16, 2023 (except for Holy Thursday until Easter Sunday).

Based on historical documents and maps, Spanish artist Teresa Esteban attempts to make a graphic and aesthetic analysis of the urban evolution of Manila, to tell the story of the Philippine capital from its beginnings in Intramuros to the current city. The exhibit, which consists of 27 works, aims to show the evolution of the city, the different worlds and the history that led it to be the mega city it is now, full of activity.

Teresa Esteban is a sculptor by profession. However, in 2001, while living in Italy as a scholar of the Spanish Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Rome, she expanded her artistic expression to include architecture and urbanism.

This exhibit is open to all and is free of charge. Manila: Born from the waters is organized by Instituto Cervantes in collaboration with the Embassy of Spain in the Philippines – AECID. For further information, please send an email to cenmni@cervantes.es or follow us in social media.

ASEAN Integrated River Management Project Launched in Manila

Wazzup Pilipinas!?

A five-year regional project on Reducing Pollution and Preserving Environmental Flows in East Asian Seas Through the Implementation of Integrated River Basin Management (IRBM) was launched in Manila to develop practical and innovative ways for communities, industries and governments to work together to revitalise Southeast Asia’s rivers.

Many of the region’s largest cities were built beside rivers: Viet Nam’s Ho Chi Minh City has the Saigon, Malaysia’s Kuala Lumpur the Klang, Indonesia’s Jakarta has the Ciliwung, the Philippines’ Metro Manila the Pasig. These rivers provide natural habitats for various plants and animals, food production and water sources for millions of people. As many rivers pass through densely populated towns and cities, waste and sediment eventually flow out to sea. According to the ASEAN Regional Action Plan on Combatting Marine Debris, plastic is estimated to account for 80% of all marine debris in the ocean.

Supported by Global Environment Facility (GEF) and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), the Project will establish functional IRBM mechanisms in the major river basins of six ASEAN Member States – Cambodia, Indonesia, Lao PDR, Malaysia, the Philippines, and Viet Nam. “It will integrate knowledge about the vital connections between rivers and seas. Best practices and pitfalls shall be shared for other rivers to emulate and avoid,” explains Dr. Inthavy Akkharath, Chair of the ASEAN Working Group on Water Resources Management.

The launch was inaugurated by Dr. Carlos Primo David, Undersecretary for Integrated Environmental Science and Supervising Undersecretary of the DENR River Basin Control Office of the Philippines, the host country of the launch, who says that “Effective governance will allow us to continue to utilise the water and other ecosystem services that river basins provide despite the threats of extreme events and climate change.”

“Water use among ASEAN countries is growing rapidly, while water quality and quantity challenges threaten to derail much-needed economic growth,” adds Dr. Selva Ramachandran, UNDP Resident Representative to the Philippines. “We’re glad to help address the critical issue of freshwater governance in river basins beyond national jurisdictions, addressing transboundary issues such as pollution, watershed management, climate change impacts and disaster risks.”

“The project is a testament of ASEAN’s collective and forward-looking action to improving water resources management in our region,” says Ekkaphab Phanthavong, Deputy Secretary-General of ASEAN for the ASEAN Socio-Cultural Community.

Partnerships in Environmental Management for the Seas of East Asia (PEMSEA), the implementing agency of the project, will work closely with the governments and stakeholders in ASEAN Member States to improve source-to-sea governance, as well as build the capacity to plan and strengthen river basin management mechanisms.

“We view this project as a natural extension of PEMSEA’s work on integrated coastal management – as rivers are natural conduits to our coasts and open seas,” explains Aimee Gonzales, PEMSEA Executive Director. “We are excited to institutionalise the use of the integrated river basin management approach, produce state of the river basin reports which will be the first of its kind in the region, test innovative solutions in select pilot sites within the identified river basins, while mainstreaming gender equality and social inclusion from the design, planning and all the way to implementation at the regional, national and river basin level.”

The launch was organised in conjunction with a Project Inception Workshop and the first Project Steering Committee Meeting to discuss project implementation arrangements, among others. It was attended by representatives from the ASEAN Working Group on Water Resources Management, ASEAN Secretariat, UNDP, PEMSEA, and project implementing partners. (30)

Revitalizing Rivers. River Rangers in the Philippine province of Cavite, south of Metro Manila, rid a small stream of plastic waste. Rivers form natural conduits to the sea, meaning much of the trash that flows through them eventually winds up in the ocean. (Gregg Yan / PEMSEA)

A River Runs Through It. Many of Asia’s largest cities, including Phnom Penh in Cambodia, Vientiane in Lao PDR and Ho Chi Minh City in Vietnam, are directly bisected by rivers. Millions of people worldwide live beside and around river systems, which conveniently serve as highways and swimming pools, but also trash dumps and toilets. Shown is a portion of Metro Manila along the Pasig River. (Gregg Yan / PEMSEA)

Flowing Out to Sea. Silt and fertilizer from mountains and lowland farms often turn rivers brown. Tonnes of mud, gravel and silt are then discharged in river deltas to choke off light-dependent marine habitats like coral reefs and seagrass beds. (Gregg Yan / PEMSEA)

What Lies Beneath. A 2017 study found that up to 2.41 million tonnes of plastic waste flows from global river systems to our oceans yearly. A full two-thirds of all this come from Asia, where population growth is highest. (Gregg Yan / PEMSEA)

Twisting Tapestry. Rivers clearly demarcate industrial and residential zones in this overhead shot of Metro Manila. Effluents and solid waste from factories and farms eventually make their way into canals, streams, rivers and eventually, the ocean. (Gregg Yan / PEMSEA)

Rediscover Café-style Coffee at Home with Nespresso Vertuo

Wazzup Pilipinas!?

For over 30 years, Nespresso’s innovations have redefined the way that millions of people around the world enjoy their coffee, growing from a ground-breaking idea in Switzerland to a global brand that’s made its mark in 81 countries and counting.

At the touch of a button, customers in homes, offices, hotels, restaurants, and cafés now enjoy high-quality, sustainably produced coffee, cup after cup.

Nespresso has always made ways to bring all the best things about coffee—cozy, convenient, and most importantly, café-quality—together in one place: at home. Now, their newest range can take you back to the root of the roast, while also allowing you to explore the endless possibilities inside every little capsule.

Last February 9, Nespresso proudly introduced its revolutionary Vertuo line of machines and coffee capsules, which steps up the at-home coffee game to café levels with each of its unique features. The exclusive media launch was held at Ember, Greenbelt 3, with the menu customized and curated by chef-owner Josh Boutwood. The whole dining experience was crafted to highlight the rich, full-bodied flavors that Nespresso is known for.

Melissa Valdez, Commercial and Marketing Head at Novateur, says, “We love working with [Chef Josh] because he really understands the ethos of Nespresso; he is passionate about elevating experiences, transforming ingredients into extraordinary dishes with an innovative sense of craftsmanship.”

Hosts David Celdran and Migs Bustos welcomed guests and invited them to explore all the ways in which Nespresso elevates the at-home coffee experience. To demonstrate what that might look like, Nespresso Coffee Ambassador JR Abril walked guests through the Vertuo’s capabilities; the new array of flavors, brewing styles, and cup sizes; the one-touch system that automatically recognizes different capsules and sets the appropriate brewing parameters; and Nespresso’s patented Centrifusion technology, which gets more out of every pod, resulting in a cup brimming with aroma, flavor, and a rich, thick crema—a strong indicator of quality coffee.

“We’re particularly excited about [Vertuo],” says Patrick Pesengco, Managing Director of Novateur. “The actual device is so intuitive and sleek, but we also feel that the range i’s a step in the right direction in terms of coffee appreciation, especially with the expanded range of roasts and flavors. This will definitely be a welcome addition in homes across the Philippines.”

Former Miss Universe Pia Wurtzbach graced the event to talk about her love of the brand, going so far as to gift the machines to friends and becoming a regular face at her local Nespresso boutique; she also makes it a point to have a machine around on when working, declaring it essential. Diver and digital creator Cha Ocampo, also a Nespresso fan, shared with those in attendance her own experience with the convenience and variety of options the brand brings to her multifaceted lifestyle, from diving to at-home dining.

“I’ve been a huge fan of Nespresso for a long time, and I’m not shy about it! I’m so pleased to be working with them and I can’t wait for people to try Vertuo for themselves,” says Wurtzbach.

The Nespresso Vertuo is now available for purchase in the Philippines. Click Add to cart on their e-commerce page, or visit any Nespresso boutique store, pop-up, or certified machine retailer in Metro Manila and Cebu. To find out more about this revolutionary twist on your at-home coffee experience, follow Nespresso Philippines on Facebook and Instagram for updates, or log on to their website.

PLDT Champions Sustainability Through the Bohol Cacao Production and Rehabilitation Project

Wazzup Pilipinas!?

Celebrating leadership and sportsmanship, the PLDT Group held its MVP Cup Golf Tournament, at the Sta. Elena Golf & Country Club in Laguna. With its theme, “Further Together Through Camaraderie Among Champions,” PLDT partnered with organizations that pushed for sustainable development through innovation and corporate social responsibility, most notably with the PLDT-Smart Foundation (PSF), PLDT Group’s social outreach arm.

Marking the annual tournament’s 19th year, partners and guests gathered to recharge, unwind, reconnect, and contribute to a meaningful cause at the fellowship night of the newly returned golf event. PLDT has long embedded sustainability in all aspects of its business and aspires to maintain relationships with like-minded partners. This year’s beneficiary is the Bohol Cacao Production and Rehabilitation Training Program, a sustainable approach to create livelihood opportunities for smallholder farmer cooperatives and associations in Bohol, especially after the devastating effects of super typhoon Odette last December 2021. Through the MVP Cup, PSF turned over P250,000 to its Adopt-a-Cacao Project.

During the event, Bohol Chocolate maker and entrepreneur, Dalareich Polot, shared the disastrous effects of the super typhoon on her home island, particularly on farming cacao trees that are a big part of Boholano culture.

Through her efforts and the support of PSF and Alagang Kapatid Foundation, also under the MVP Group, she was able to continue with rebuilding and recovery projects– most notably with the Bohol Cacao Production and Rehabilitation Training Program. Through this project, the farmers will undergo two days hands-on training to learn about cacao rehabilitation and rejuvenation, financial literacy, entrepreneurship, and values formation.

Guided by its commitment to driving the country’s digital capabilities forward, PLDT will also integrate technology into the project with data gathering to be done through QR codes for a more efficient cacao inventory and traceability. Producers will likewise be connected to the right market to sell their quality dried cacao beans to chocolate makers in Bohol.

With cacao rehabilitation, propagation, and production, the community would be able to recover their cacao trees and make them productive again. This is in line with Polot’s vision of supplying quality cacao beans to all the chocolate makers in Bohol, the Philippines, and the world.

The MVP Cup continues to be a platform that strengthens sportsmanship and leadership while raising awareness on important causes such as this. The Bohol Cacao Production and Rehabilitation Training Program is proof of PLDT’s commitment to its values of integrity, excellence, and that by working hand in hand, organizations and businesses can go Further Together.

Wazzup Pilipinas!

Ways to Set Your Business Up for Success in 2023

Wazzup Pilipinas!?

Considerably if starting a business is difficult, successfully running one is even harder. Businesses must adjust to the unpredictability of economic and technological developments if they want to stay competitive. Entrepreneurs need to start planning for 2023 as we enter it and set up their companies for success. If you want to learn more about these things, here are some of the most important strategies to help you get your company ready for 2023.

Create a clear and concise business plan

For your firm to be successful, you must write a clear and comprehensive business plan. It offers a road map for your company, outlining your objectives, target market, and success-oriented techniques. In order to help you make wise decisions, a well-defined business plan also contains thorough research of your industry, competitors, and market trends. Your company strategy should be adaptable so that you may adjust it to market developments and change your methods as necessary. Regular evaluation and updating are necessary to keep your business plan current and in line with your company's goals.

Embrace technological advancements

Embracing technological advancements is crucial for businesses to stay ahead of their competition. You can use different technological tools to streamline your business processes, improve communication, and enhance customer experience. For instance, cloud-based software can help you manage your business operations efficiently, while AI-powered chatbots can handle customer queries, saving time and resources. Social media platforms can help you engage with your customers and build brand awareness. Investing in technology can also help you reduce costs and improve productivity, making your business more efficient and competitive.

Focus on customer experience

For businesses to keep ahead of their rivals, embracing technology improvements is essential. To improve communication, customer experience, and corporate processes, you can employ a variety of technical tools. For instance, AI-powered chatbots may answer client inquiries, saving time and money, while cloud-based software can assist you in managing your business operations effectively. Social media platforms can aid in client engagement and brand recognition development. Investing in technology can also help you lower expenses and increase productivity, increasing the effectiveness and competitiveness of your company.

Build a solid online presence

In the current digital era, having a good online presence is crucial for businesses. Your website, social media accounts, online reviews, and other digital channels all contribute to your online visibility. Create a user-friendly website that is search engine optimized so that your company shows up on the first page of search results in order to have a strong online presence. On social media, you may also produce and distribute interesting material that will entice users to follow and interact with your business. Additionally, you can encourage your clients to post favorable reviews about you on other websites, which can raise your authority and visibility online.

Manage your finances

To make sure you stick to your spending limit and refrain from going overboard, managing your money is crucial while traveling. A travel wallet or money belt can help you keep your cash, credit cards, and other valuables secure while you're on the go, making it a great travel item in this sense. It's also crucial to let your bank and credit card provider know you'll be traveling so they won't mark your transactions as suspicious. A credit card with no international transaction fees might also be something you want to think about having since these costs can quickly mount up when you travel abroad. You should also make sure that all your suppliers and collaborators are happy and satisfied, which is why you need to find a financial solution that’s going to give you a chance to pay them all on time. For instance, you can look into the practical Trade Finance solution to help you pay your suppliers whenever you need to, without forcing them to wait. This way, you’ll show them how much you appreciate them and they’ll help your company grow in the future as well.

Invest in marketing and advertising

In order to draw in new clients and raise brand awareness, marketing, and advertising are essential. To reach your target audience, you can invest in various marketing tactics including SEO, PPC, email marketing, and content marketing. It's crucial to set aside money for marketing on numerous traditional and digital platforms, including radio, television, print, and social media. You may assess the success of your marketing initiatives using data analytics and make any necessary adjustments. An effective marketing and advertising strategy can provide you with a competitive advantage, bring in more clients, and boost your market share.

Build a strong team

The success of your company depends on the strength of your workforce. Your staff is the foundation of your company, so it's essential that you choose capable, capable people who share your vision and values. Maintaining the skills and knowledge of your team while keeping them informed of the most recent market developments and industry best practices is also crucial. If you are, for example, opening a real estate business, make sure to find the best realtors in order to have a strong team on your side. You can enhance productivity, provide better customer service, and streamline your business processes with the aid of a competent team. In order to keep your staff engaged and motivated, it's critical to cultivate a healthy workplace culture that promotes cooperation, innovation, and creativity.

Stay ahead of your competition

For your firm to succeed, you must stay one step ahead of your rivals. You must be informed of the tactics, advantages, and disadvantages of your rivals in order to adjust your business. Regular market research can give you a competitive edge by assisting you in identifying new trends and modifications in consumer behavior. By including special features, better quality, or greater value, you can further distinguish your goods or services from competitors. Because devoted consumers are less likely to switch to a rival, maintaining a great relationship with your customers can also help you remain ahead of the competition. Continually developing and enhancing your goods or services can also aid in keeping you at the forefront of the market.

A thorough and deliberate approach is needed to position your company for success in 2023. You may grow your market share, draw in more clients, and operate more efficiently by putting these methods into practice. Keep in mind that success is a journey and that long-term sustainability depends on ongoing innovation and development. Your company can prosper in the years to come with the appropriate strategy and attitude.
