Threatening comments by the Chinese ambassador Huang Xilian to the Philippines

Wazzup Pilipinas!?

"Speaking at the 8th Manila Forum, Chinese Ambassador to the Philippines Huang Xilian says “The Philippines is advised to unequivocally oppose Taiwan independence rather than stoking the fire by offering the US access to the military bases near the Taiwan Strait if you care…"

Chinese Ambassador to the Philippines Huang Xilian's call to the Philippines to oppose Taiwan's independence in order to secure the lives of 150,000 Filipinos working in the country is the statement of a hostage-taker.

How dare Xilian barter with our people's lives to promote Beijing's hegemonic agenda in the region! We call on the Marcos administration to immediately declare the Chinese ambassador persona non grata and expel him from our country. Xilian is a hostage-taker, not an ambassador.

We don't negotate with hostage takers. He has no right to threaten our citizens while enjoying our country's hospitality.

We remind China that the Philippines is an independent and sovereign country with the freedom to form alliances and partnerships with other nations including the closely watched Enhanced Defense Cooperation Agreement (EDCA), to promote state-to-state cooperation and explore platforms to engage on a range of bilateral, regional, and global issues.

While these agreements are far from perfect and should still be subject to the Filipinos' scrutiny & criticisms, no foreign entity has the authority to dictate to us which of these are beneficial or not, much less threaten the lives of our citizens to force us to choose its side.

Senator Risa Hontiveros responds to Chinese Ambassador Huang Xilian’s statement that the Philippines is ‘stoking the fire’ by giving the US access to its military bases near the Taiwan Strait.

The Senator urged MalacaƱang to have Chinese Ambassador Huang Xilian sent back to China for his “truly disgraceful” statements, which she said were a threat.

She has urged the Palace to tell Beijing to recall Chinese Ambassador Huang Xilian after he “advised” the Philippines against supporting Taiwan if the country “cares genuinely” about the OFWs in the self-governing island.

Chinese Ambassador Huang Xilian, along with his country’s ships and artificial islands in the West Philippine Sea (WPS), should pack up and leave.

The Chinese ambassador to the Philippines indicated that the safety and welfare of tens of thousands of Filipinos working in Taiwan might be jeopardized if Manila does not oppose the independence of the island nation that Beijing claims to be a part of China.

Is this China openly threatening the lives of Filipinos living and working in Taiwan? It feels like a threat.

The Philippines, especially this government, should stand firm against a bully like China. If Taiwan can stand firm for their independence, much more should the Philippines.

Let's have more EDCA sites to counter the bullies of our seas!

Apart from Senator Hontiveros, are there other legislators who have called out the despicable remarks of the Chinese ambassador? The only government official to raise this issue is a woman

The silence is deafening but also quite telling.

The Independence of Taiwan is legitimate as the citizens of the country are unanimously in approval of their freedom and liberty to Beijing’s rule and governance! What has this got to do with the Filipinos?

China is simply extorting Philippines to gain support from nations who they can bully into submission. This is normal for them.

Let's see how this administration will respond to a seemingly threat by an ambassador residing in the Philippines.

Is this a representation of China in its true color?. It knows no civility and international laws – a god unto itself?

Lesson from history: Never empower a communist country with the hope they switch to democracy. This is what happens. Do as we say or we'll take all that is yours. This is there version of "love thy neighbor" with Chinese characteristics.

However, China's embassy in the Philippines on Sunday said that its ambassador Huang Xilian's remarks about overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) in Taiwan were misquoted, misunderstood, or taken out of context.

Was he indeed misquoted, misunderstood, or taken out of context? Which lie are they going with? Read the transcript!

Excuse me! He was talking in plain English! How do you misquote something like that! Don't regard us as fools! Get out of our country!

There’s no such thing as misinterpreted or misquoted in international diplomacy. The ambassador is the alter-ego of the country it represents.

It is what it is, it was a veiled THREAT!

The Chinese Ambassador in PH should be declared persona non grata or a non-acceptable person in the Philippines.
