In accordance with the announcement made by Cabinet Secretary Karlo B. Nograles of the Inter-Agency Task Force for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases (IATF-EID) providing exemptions in the implementation of the Enhanced Community Quarantine in the entirety of Luzon, the Philippine Postal Corporation (PHLPost) will resume its operations only for domestic acceptance and delivery of postal items.

Outgoing mails or those to be sent abroad will still be suspended until further notice.

“While PHLPost is committed to support the National Government in the delivery of essential services in this time of crisis, the safety and health of the frontliners and other employees who will render services during this period is a priority,” Postmaster General Joel Otarra said.

PHLPost shall provide limited services in order to facilitate the delivery of mails/checks, parcels containing medical supplies, and other essential services. Mails will be accepted based on the following guidelines and procedures;

1. Only selected Delivery Post Offices shall be opened to serve the public three times a week limited to four hours of operations. Office hours shall start at 10AM to 3PM, limited to four (4) hours, only on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, to enable employees to clean and sanitize themselves, the equipment and mails before and after the operations.

2. For mails and parcels with contact numbers, (cellphone/telephone numbers, or e-mail address) and in order to adhere to the call for physical distancing and minimize exposure of employees, addressees may go to the post office to claim their mails, parcels, or items.

3. To ensure continuity of service, PHLPost shall limit their door-to-door delivery of service. Delivery of mails shall be based on priorities such as vital communications and parcels containing medicines, items containing goods/perishable items, items from SSS, GSIS and other public and private institutions containing pensions, checks/loans etc., EMS items and left over mails (vital communications/checks) prior to the implementation of the community lockdown.

4. Subject to existing local community quarantine protocols, the post office may coordinate with Barangay officials for the delivery of mails. The Barangay officials will be the ones to undertake the delivery to their respective constituents-addresses.

PHLPost assures the public that it is tirelessly addressing the concerns of the public for fast and reliable service amidst these trying times.
