Tips for Solo Traveler
Wazzup Pilipinas!
Traveling is such an awesome experience that almost everybody wants to try. To be able to go to a place you have never been to is so exciting, especially if you travel with friends or family. However, due to time and financial reasons, not all have the luxury to do this. More often it left you to travel alone. But traveling alone does not hinder a wanderer… does not hinder a person who has an intense desire to be able to set foot in unfamiliar places.
To travel alone gives a sense of adventure and a mixture of fear and excitement. When you are traveling alone, you must be all prepared and depend only on yourself as you do not have anyone to depend on. Depending on strangers should be the last resort a solo traveler must do. I don’t have anything against dealing and interacting with strangers but it is best to be safe first and foremost. Nowadays, to venture into the unknown is so scary.
In this article, we will know some of the important tips and ideas that we must have when we are planning to travel solo. So, be sure to finish reading this article because it has some really good tips if not the best.
The first on our list is, of course, money. As we all know, even with today’s technology and the so-called modern era there are some remote places in a certain country where credit card or debit card is still considered a thing in the near future. However, it is also advisable to have your credit or debit card with you as a backup fund. The money that we are talking about here is not just simply the money that you have right now. Say, if you are in the United States, you have dollars and if you are in the United Kingdom you have the Pound sterling (£) or the GBP. (British Pound). This is simply to say that you must have the available currency of the place that you are planning to travel to. So get ready and include in your to-do list to have the available currency of the place you are going to visit next. And one more thing, don’t forget to research the nearest ATM machine or money changer establishment because you never know when it might come in handy.
The second on our list is the first aid kit for solo travelers. Be sure to bring some pain killers or medication for stomach ache, headache, and other basic medicines. Not only that but the most important are the ointments or repellents for those annoying pesky bugs, those buzzing mosquitoes, and all other pests that could ruin your adventure. There are some helpful sites like Pest Wiki that you can visit and get some ideas and tips to avoid pests like mosquitoes, bugs, etc. Well, you sure do not want to have that itchy welt in your entire travel adventure. Be sure to check out the Pest wiki site and you will be certain that your travel adventure is not going to be ruined. Remember, nothing beats the person who is always prepared.
The third is some food bars like chocolates or biscuits or candies and of course don’t forget water as well. Anything that could fill in your hunger and quench your thirst while on travel, you have to pack it. It is a known fact that when you travel to an unfamiliar place the very main concern is the food and water especially if you are the type of person who has a very sensitive stomach or if you have some food allergies. You can’t just eat anywhere if you get hungry while on stopovers. So bringing some food is a great and helpful idea.
The fourth is your personal things… your toiletries. Yeah, it’s a given that hotels provide toothpaste, toothbrush, shampoo, soap, etc. but it is still best to bring your own toiletries while you are on travel because you will never know what might happen. Also if you are a woman, you have to make sure that you have something for your monthly period. Again, nothing beats you if you are prepared.
The last is the map and some list of research like money exchange establishment list etc., options for transportation, emergency phone numbers of the local authorities and agencies and the tourist spots that worth visiting. Oh, don’t forget that it is best to have the local rates information on everything that you think you will be needing. Some might think this is not so important but actually, it is. Those small things are sometimes the most important, always take note of that.
Those tips above are just a few of the many to-do’s that you need when traveling solo. You might think that to travel alone is a bit lonely but it is not. As long as you have the heart of an adventurer and you are prepared then you are definitely going to enjoy every minute and every second of traveling alone. If you have not tried it yet, well, maybe this is the time that you do. Once you have experienced it the first time I am definitely sure that you will crave more.
So what are you waiting for, start planning now and be sure to do it and not just leave it like a dream!
