The University of the Philippines Men’s Basketball Team (UPMBT) continued to reap support from different sectors as STATS, an active clothing/apparel company under Januarius Holdings Inc. (JHI), agreed to finance the Fighting Maroons’ foreign basketball training for the second straight year.
The team will fly to Serbia on Sunday, July 21, to take part in a two-week long basketball camp in Novi Sad for intensive training drills that includes sessions with players from different Serbian ball clubs. Januarius Holdings, Inc., led by its Chairman and CEO JJ Atencio, also supported the UPMBT in their Las Vegas basketball training last year.
The avid UP supporter (center) and the NowheretogobutUP Foundation (NTGBUP) -- a volunteer group of UP alumni supporting UP’s varsity programs, together with the Team Managers Ags Uvero and Dan Palami -- hosted a send-off lunch for the team and its coaches at MESA SM Megamall on July 19, 2018. The team will be back in early August to prepare for the coming University Athletics Association of the Philippines (UAAP) Season 81 that starts in September.
