All sectorial offices and attached agencies under the Department of Transportation (DOTr) have been directed to be on heightened alert status to ensure the peaceful and orderly conduct of the Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan elections on Monday, May 14.
The DOTr warned operators to not allow candidates to use their public utility vehicles (PUVs) to perform acts that are inimical to the conduct of an Honest Orderly Peaceful Elections (HOPE).
Transport agencies were likewise enjoined to be on the lookout for individuals or groups that pose threats to the security of the elections or coerce any person to vote for or against a candidate, and to report such incidents immediately.
Agencies are also directed to implement 24/7 operations, ensure that direct communication lines and feedback mechanisms are operational, and incidents are reported in real-time. All booths or counters servicing passengers must be properly manned to prevent heavy queuing.
Just like previous holidays, the Inter-Agency Council for Traffic (i-ACT) will not be on vacation, and drivers of colorum vehicles, smoke belchers, and traffic violators will still be apprehended.
