Tugade Attends PNP-HPG's 62nd Founding Anniversary
Wazzup Pilipinas!
DOTr Secretary Arthur P. Tugade attended earlier today the 62nd Founding Anniversary of the PNP-Highway Patrol Group (HPG) as Guest of Honor and Speaker.
In his speech, Secretary Tugade recognized the hard work of the men and women of HPG, and urged them to continue serving the Filipino people by keeping the roads safe for citizens.
"I personally witnessed many instances where HPG officers stand on the roads. Pawisan man dahil sa init o basa man ng ulan, pero sige sige lang," Sec. Tugade said.
While acknowledging the efforts of the HPG, the Secretary likewise reminded the members of the police force to abide by the President's call to abhor corruption.
"Bilin ng Pangulong Duterte, dapat walang anumang bahid ng korapsyon. Aksyon o persepsyon, dapat walang korapsyon," he said.
Secretary Tugade also took the opportunity to speak about the Omnibus Franchising Guidelines as part of the PUV Modernization Program. He mentioned that this project is necessary to ensure the safety of the riding public.
"The Omnibus Franchising Guidelines will be signed before the end of May. Yung mga old and dilapidated vehicles, bawal na sa lansangan. Ang tanong nila sa akin: "Paano na ang aming hanapbuhay?' ang sagot ko naman: "Sana ang inyong hanapbuhay, hindi kumitil ng buhay," he said.
The program was followed by a parade of HPG officers and an exhibition of the HPG Motorcycle Group.
The event was also attended by PNP Chief Ronald "Bato" Dela Rosa, HPG Chief Antonio Gardiola, LTFRB Chair Martin Delgra III, DOTr Officials, i-ACT officers, and former HPG directors.
