It's that time of the month already to get a haircut. I could feel, and see, my hair starting to be a little more uncontrollable especially after waking up from a good night's sleep. No amount of shampoo and conditioner could put it down, or up, as lengthy but beautiful as my wife's. Not even tbe strongest holding hair wax can put it in its proper place. I actually fell in love with my wife's hair first even before I got the chance to look at her more intimately. Lol!
If the hair is the crowning glory of women, men's hair is an identity with a huge exclamation point. It gives us the character that differentiates us from the youth in school who are required just one kind of haircut. Men get to flaunt their own preferred style or cut that would make them stand out from the rest.
This is why I am also selective of where I get my hair cut. Especially in my case where i also require coloring or dye to hide all those white or grey hair which does not really indicates my age but rather something I inherited from my relatives who get white hair even during their youth.
In my case, I've tried a lot of barbershops and salons already, but I seldom return to just one since none I believe I am still looking for that perfect cut. I may be so adventurous, but I do need to find that place which I could finally call my barber for eternity.
Fortunately, I am not alone on this search. This is why new breed of barbershops are now on the rise, just like Sports Barbers.
"With pompadours on the rise, man-buns making its way on the street, perfectly trimmed beards and facial hair making an appearance…it’s safe to say that male grooming is finally getting the attention it deserves.
But while men will admittedly make more effort by way of aesthetics, the process of getting the right look still prompts them to demand the simplicity and straightforwardness of traditional barbershops.
“Most women like being whisked away to a secluded world of pampering for their beauty treatments; most men will expect an efficient and clear-cut service—but not at the expense of style,” explains Ramon De Ubago III, CEO of Sports Barbers.
This gave way to a new breed of barbershops—one that delivers the kind of service that they expect that essentially gives a modern take on an old classic. And while there have been a few cropping up here and there, none have been more accessible or as successful in providing the stylish sense that today’s grooming generation seeks than Sports Barbers."
Sports Barbers has 12 branches nationwide of which it recently unveiled another milestone as it opened its 12th branch in SM North Edsa on December 2016.
The barbershop aims to deliver the best cuts for clients, inspired by traditional hairstyles and the most stylish men. The brand’s crop of barber-stylists, a term derived from the fusion of Vidal Sassoon trained cutting and styling mixed with the efficient sensibilities of old-school barbers, mean clients can confidently step into any branch and emerge looking as dapper as they can be.
Its ambience and service, strongly anchored on its team’s ability to provide everything from on-trend cuts to classic styles, is a compelling reminder of inherent masculine values—adventure, straightforwardness, humor and at the end of the day, natural good looks (as opposed to self-conscious preening).
“The idea is to create a go-to destination for men where they can expect the reliable, time-honored techniques of traditional barbering and yet know they are in the hand of people who will be able to tell the difference between a short sides with brush top versus buzz crop or a pompadour versus a slick back,” ends De Ubago.
I'm willing to give this barbershop a shot so I'm visiting it soon in time for my next haircut. The nearest branch for me is at Eastwood Citywalk but since I often go to either SM Mall of Asia or SM North EDSA too, I might just drop by at one of these branches anytime soon. So be sure to come back and watch out for our review here.
