In support of the HIV-AIDS advocacy, male celebrities like star photographer BJ Pascual and TV chef Jeremy Favia join LoveYourself’s Cherry Poppin' - The 3rd Party, a fundraising activity which will help fund the organization’s HIV awareness and testing operations, including the opening of two new community centers in Metro Manila.
Taking place on Saturday (25 February) at the One Canvas Events Place in Makati City, Cherry Poppin’ accommodates guests (donors) to the party with a free drink, and a chance to bid and go out on a romantic date with the 14 auctionees for just a donation of PhP300.
By registering at go.loveyourself.ph/cherrytickets, party guests (donors) are one step closer to dating BJ Pascual and Jeremy Favia as well as meeting the newest ambassador of LoveYourself, Jerome Alacre.
Know Your Dates for a Cause
At a young age, BJ Pascual has become an industry name following his photographic works landing on big shot magazines and promotions of leading fashion brands as well as campaigns. BJ also starred as a guest photographer and judge on the hit international television series, Asia’s Next Top Model.
Having a heart for the advocacy, BJ uses his talent and expertise to give back by donating the proceeds of his art exhibit last April called “Come Close” to LoveYourself.
On why he wants to help the HIV cause, Pascual highlighted “There's a stigma attached to it so people are afraid to get tested or if positive, seek treatment.”
“By simply discussing about HIV-related topics matter-of-factly instead of pure gossip, even among friends, would help in raising awareness and understanding, thus helping destigmatize HIV,” Pascual further said.
On other hand, Chef Jeremy Favia was featured in lifestyle shows like Chef vs. Mom, Take-Out and Ka-Toque. While food is his life, this TV chef-host is not only nutrition conscious, but also family oriented, an animal lover, a travel enthusiast and a staunch advocate of HIV awareness and prevention.
Favia already posed for LoveYourself’s Project Indulge campaign in 2013, which is an online campaign encouraging the public to get tested for HIV.
To help raise awareness and understanding of HIV, Favia said he likes to educate people, particularly in engaging people in campaigns like the Cherry Poppin’ party.
“I'm looking forward to meeting people who have the same heart as I to make this campaign educate more people and to spread awareness and stop the stigma,” Favia relayed.
Newest Ambassador for LoveYourself and Test Manila
During the Cherry Poppin’ party, LoveYourself will also launch the TestMNL HIV awareness campaign, which is patterned after the TestBKK campaign in Bangkok, Thailand, and funded by the Elton John AIDS Foundation through the Asia Pacific Coalition on Male Sexual Health (APCOM).
LoveYourself reveals reality TV show participant Jerome Alacre as TestMNL’s newest ambassador.
A son of Tondo, Alacre worked as a nursing profession in California, USA. In his five years working as an OFW and being exposed to other cultures, Alacre realized that gender identity should not be an issue at all.
“Being gay is as simple as living like a normal person, and most especially your gender will never affect your capacity as a person and your contribution in the society.”
Alacre came out as a gay person on national TV with a purpose to help and inspire others with the same situation as his –hiding their authentic self.
By being true to one’s self, Alacre advised “Some people will hate you for being who you are; sometimes your family will disagree with your decision, but you have to remember that your happiness comes with your freedom. Use your sexuality as an inspiration in your struggle in life.”
Cherry Poppin' is co-presented by Bliss, Vasst Exchange Int'l Inc. (Stella Rosa) and Victoria Court; in cooperation with LeMiel Cafe, MAC Cosmetics, and Sip and Gogh; and supported by Aramesh Spa & Wellness, Art & Style Events Management and Production Design, Ground Zero, Jack Daniels, Nectar Philippines, Sparta Philippines, Tambayan and Regency Grand Suites, and The Menu Group (Splice, Sobremesa, SASA and Sangkap).
