“I think General Bato has to reassess whether his leadership sa PNP still calls for respect, he still commands respect over his subordinates, effective pa ba ang leadership niya.”We were not sure if PNP Chief Ronald "Bato" Dela Rosa was joking when he implored "Would the Korean executive be alive if I did not attend the concert?" referring to his attendance to the Bryan Adams concert at Smart Araneta Coliseum last January 18, 2017. But the call for his resignation "to save President Rodrigo "Rody" Duterte from further embarrassment and restore respect to the Office of the PNP Chief has been the trending talk everywhere.
But this guy has an all-out support for the President that he is ready to support the declaration of martial law should Duterte, declare it. The top cop, however, doubts that Duterte will impose totalitarian rule.
Duterte seems to be tough against drug personalities but going easy with his allies. Seems to be a familiar scene compared from the previous administration.
Can the public expect to see a more serious PNP chief? He said he would kill rogue policemen if he could. But that statement is totally a reverse for suspected drug users who gets killed instantly because they were allegedly fighting back.'
"I'm very angry, offended. Kung pwede lang matunaw ako sa hiya. It happened inside the Camp Crame." pertaining to South Korean Jee Ick-joo who was killed within their turf. It's now police against police. If I have my way, papatayin ko 'yung mga pulis [na involved sa kaso ng South Korean kidnap victim]. says Bato. Now that a police seems to be exposing what really goes on within their ranks, Duterte has been quoted saying "I will oppose efforts to make SPO3 Sta. Isabel a state witness."
10. Tokhang for Ransom Issue. The South Korean that was abducted by policemen in Angeles City and then murdered in Camp Crame near the official residence of PNP Chief Bato could be causing him many sleepless nights lately. Who knows who else is keeping him awake at night? Remember the murdered Leyte Albuera Mayor Ronaldo Espinosa? .. and of course, the many suspected drug users from the "madlang people" who allegedly fought back against the supposedly police drug busters.
9. No Peace in War on Drugs. Being awarded with the Gusi Peace Prize must be giving him some goosebumps since there seems to be no spot for the word "peace" in their "War on Drugs" led by President Duterte. He should have won the "Gusot" Peace Prize instead. No wonder we overheard a news reporter asking the same question to one of the organizers. The main man from the Nobel Peace Prize awards was also there but we are sure Bato was not one of his recommendations to the Gusi Peace Prize.
3. Celebrity in the Making. We will not be surprised if he suddenly gets a singing career offer. The PNP Chief was seen singing at th e2017 Rakrakan Festival as if he could really carry a respectable tune. I would not disagree with what he said that "Hindi kailangan maging durugista, para maging rakista!" But did he get a lot of respect from that gig? It is not new to see politicians singing and dancing especially during campaign season but don't you think his presence alone, and a little bit of talk, would be enough support. "Stay high with music, not with drugs!" he says, but after that do you still have high respect for the PNP Chief?
2. Getting Perks and Freebies. Government officials are not allowed to receive "gifts" since time immemorial, but the PNP Chief readily accepted and announced an all expense paid trip to watch Manny "Pacman" Pacquiao in one of his fights in Las Vegas. Ignorance of the law, of which he should be implementing, should not be an excuse. We should all remember that giving this government officials VIP treatment is also a form of perk and privilege, which is similar to "gift-giving" as well. Do we also need to mention his other local and foreign trips like that in Colombia, China, Thailand, etc., (whether official or not) where taxpayer's money was obviously been used.

8. Being a Judge at Beauty Pageants. He was recently one of the judges during the coronation night of Miss Earth which was held at the SM MOA Arena in 2016. Now what could be his qualifications making him a credible judge of beauty. They should have made him a judge again at the Miss Universe in Manila. No, they won't do that because that would definitely look so self-serving for the country. Was it his "crowning glory" that served as the major factor for being chosen as one of the judges?
7. VIP Seats in Concerts and Movie Premieres. Bato's designation as PNP Chief makes him sort of a celebrity and a status that deserves the front seat of any occasion. So this guy gets to have all the best privileges in life just because he is supposed to be the public servant of the Philippines, while the majority of the people get to watch from the cheapest and farthest part of the venue. Why would you take him away from Bryan Adams' Manila concert and Matteo Guidicelli's Across the Crescent Moon movie premiere? Do we need to mention his TV appearances like at Trabahula of It's Showtime?
6. Bato Mascot, Hand Puppets and Toys. Aside from Duterte, Bato gets to have a mascot, hand puppets and toys modeled after him. He is so popular not only because of his looks but also because he is a natural comedian as seen from previous videos where he stole the spotlight. Remember the President's SONA where he was seen making faces in front of the camera? Is he nothing more but a joker? We should also mention the mobile game apps that were developed with him as a main character.
5. Power Has Got Into Bato's Head. From humble to brash, his attitude has indeed changed as reiterated by Tulfo. That bald shiny head seems to be literally growing especially when President Duterte said "He stays as chief of police. Bato has my complete trust" amidst calls for Bato's resignation. But Bato seems to be wallowing in his popularity that he now talks and acts like he is invincible or feeling like a superhero - The Rock, The Truth, or The Thing? .. or Vin Diesel?... or Mr.Clean?

According to Presidential Spokesperson Ernesto Abella, President Duterte implicitly trusts PNP Chief Bato, adding that the police chief is part of the President's team. This is probably the dream team so their motto must be "Walang Iwanan!" making PNP Chief Bato sort of an untouchable just as how the former DOTC Secretary was to former President Noynoy Aquino.

1. Call for His Resignation. PNP Chief Bato has been rejected calls for him to resign following the kidnapping and murder of a tokhang-for-ransom victim in Camp Crame. “Gusto nila akong mag-resign? Sabihin n’yo kay Presidente, paalisin ako. Ano ba ang akala nila, nag-e-enjoy ako sa trabaho ko?!” says Bato. He then boast of his effort to resign directly to the president but was denied. He did this while they were both in the restroom.
