Wazzup Pilipinas!
Converge ICT, a provider of world-class ICT products and services in the country, amplifies further its efforts to benefit academic institutions with better internet connectivity as it recently tied up with De La Salle Philippines (DLSP). Converge ICT now serves as a major provider for DLSP sites in Luzon.
"It has been one of the company’s thrusts to equip academic institutions with better internet connectivity through the capabilities of pure fiber technology. We believe access to information is a necessity for their community to be able to advance and compete,” said Jesus Romero, chief operating officer of Converge ICT.
For DLSP, extending the best learning environment for their student means allowing them to access to interactive, personalized instruction, which has been found to improve learning outcomes.
According to James Sy, director of IT services office of DLSU-M, Lasallian schools have been using the internet to have a more conducive and advanced learning environment. For instance, some classrooms are now equipped with digital modules, which require broadband access to view multimedia materials and online academic enrichment services.
“We conduct webinars once or twice a year in which speakers from abroad share their knowledge through video conferencing. We have also started livestreaming our graduation ceremonies so that we can extend the viewership to those who could not be physically with us. During these activities, we need a reliable partner as we require a great deal of bandwidth to facilitate these events,” Sy added. “What we really need is a partner that understands the varying requirements of educational institutions like us.”
Meanwhile, Ricson Singson Que, senior director of the IT Department of DLS-CSB said that “we are happy that we found a partner in Converge ICT, who has been reliable and flexible in delivering our needs.”
“We are happy to empower DLSP in providing better education and services to their community. We are committed to support further their ICT needs as our objective is to equip the educational institutions with solutions that will help them enhance educational services.” Romero said
