Wazzup Pilipinas!
I just voted for #Philippines to advance to the Top 12 in the 65th #MissUniverse Competition. With Maxine's current performance, I believe that a back-to-back win for #Philippines in #MissUniverse is possible.
She's doing her best for the country, in return, let's show our support by voting her everyday in www.missuniverse.com/voting and by using official hashtags #Philippines and #MissUniverse.
Let us prove to other countries, the universe rather, that regardless of political, religious and personal beliefs, we are one nation.
This 2016 pageant will be sort of a reunion of former beauty queens because according to Kat De Castro, Tourism USEC, that former Miss Universe title holders will be among the judges. We've seen Dayanara Torres' arrival already in the news. Do you think it's a good decision of the organizers to include them as judges?
#MissUniverse is back in the Philippines for a third time. We all know Gloria Diaz was our first #MissUniverse. But it was only after #MissUniverse Margie Moran winning the crown in 1973 that the prestigious pageant was held in the Philippines. Miss Universe 1994, the 43rd Miss Universe pageant, was held on May 21, 1994 at the Plenary Hall of the Philippine International Convention Center in the city of Pasay. Sushmita Sen of India was crowned by Dayanara Torres of Puerto Rico at the end of the event. Now, just like Moran, reigning queen Pia Wurtzbach will pass on her crown in her home country on January 30, 2017. We are all hoping it will be Miss Philippines, Maxine Medina, of course.
But the choice is still yours! Do you vote and cheer for Miss Philippines, or for the one that you believe is well deserving of the crown?

On Sunday, 86 candidates will compete for the Miss Universe crown here in the Philippines! Who's your favorite candidate?
Meanwhile, Quezon City Representative Castelo says more Filipinos, including children, would be able to watch the “once-in-a-year spectacle” if the President would declare January 30 as a no-work holiday.
As her reign as #MissUniverse 2015 draws closer to the end, Pia Alonzo Wurtzbach looks back at her year-long journey as a woman with beauty that's more than skin deep, by inspiring her supporters to never give up on their dreams. Thank you, Pia! You will always be the country's 'Queen of the Universe.' The 2015 Miss Universe already admitted to the public that she and Fil-Swiss race car driver Marlon Stockinger are now officially an item, so she surely has something great to fall back into after her reign. Lol!
Meanwhile, Maxine Medina remains confident that she will wear the #MissUniverse crown after Pia Wurtzbach. But would she be following the advise of Gloria Diaz, Shamcey Supsup and other well-meaning supporters, and even bashers, that she should get an interpreter instead?
But #MissUniverse is actually more than just passing the crown to the next queen. It attracted a new batch of sponsors who were willing to bet millions of dollars to ride on the pageant's skirt tails.
Miss Universe is always a big deal in the third world countries including emerging markets. This pageant needs to telecast live in the US on Sunday only regardless where this event is being held. Why the event is going to be Monday in the Philippines and it has to be in the morning? Because it's Sunday and it's night in the US. But the Philippines is not betting on a bad deal.
This is because when Pia competed in Vegas, the candidates just stayed in Vegas. In our country, they're competing in Manila but they get to go around the Philippines. Why? Not only does it help in local tourism for the entire country, the individual sponsors get media mileage as well. The international exposure that brands get could be seen on a global scope. This is why there are so many brands that are willing to spend a lot just to be included among the sponsors.
