Cebuanos Find Around the Clock Hangout in Tom N Toms Coffee
Wazzup Pilipinas!
Viewed from outer space, Metro Cebu is one of the few places in the Philippines outside Metro Manila that shines bright at night amidst a sea of darkness.
With the recently opened Tom N Toms Coffee, the first in Cebu and the second in the country, Cebuanos have found a round the clock hangout fulfilling the demand of a cosmopolitan haven that has grown to ignore sleep.
“With Cebu’s dizzying growth, more and more are staying up until the odd hours. Tom N Toms Coffee is open 24 hours to serve a growing number of Cebuanos who are taking part in the Metro’s prosperity,” said Tom N Toms Cebu General Manager Jose Mari Alba.
The world-famous Korean coffee chain, the top brand in South Korea based on the number of stores, opened just last September 8 at The Greenery on Pope John Paul II Avenue, Kasambagan, Mabolo.
“Coffee lovers who need a cozy place to stay beyond midnight will find Tom N Toms to be an ideal place,” said Alba. The Cebu location follows the opening of Tom N Toms first branch last year in Bacolod.
Alba anticipates the coffee shop to be popular with millennials hanging out with friends all night, professionals, BPO workers, and others who work night shifts, adding Tom N Toms boosts the visible rise of a number of coffee shops with its 24-hour service.
Tom N Toms offers the usual variety of coffee drinks, espressos, frappes, smoothies, pretzels and snacks. But the shop also offers other amenities such as strong wifi, cozy seats, free charging, and a wide assortment of food from baked goods to healthy picks and heavy meals.
“Given any coffee shops’ need for a high customer volume to be sustainable, the availability of other food items and special drinks on top of the usual coffee fare around the clock is an advantage for Tom N Toms,” said Alba.
The Tom N Toms Cebu General Manager said the friendly staff of the new coffee chain are looking forward to serving Cebuanos during the busy nights of a progressively sophisticated city that has begun to escape the need for sleep.

The Advantages of e-Procurement vs. Traditional
Wazzup Pilipinas!
Procurement is one of the most important business processes for many organizations, whether large enterprises or small and medium size companies. Many decisions taken by departments have a procurement implication that can impact on the overall cost of carrying out the decision. Here cost includes the total cost of the good or service and not simply the price that is paid.
In the private sector, procurement is viewed as a strategic function working to improve the organization’s profitability. Procurement is seen as helping to streamline processes, reduce raw material prices and costs, and identifying better sources of supply.
However, the process often pose many challenges such as understatement of purchase details, inappropriate selection methods, inadequate supplier information, selecting unsuitable supplier and risk in negotiations, just to name a few. However, with the advent of technology, automation of the procurement process can now be done which can help achieve the best results for your procurement projects.
Below are just some of the values and additional advantages brought by technology in the procurement process that the traditional processes cannot provide.

Why not, with the sumptuous taste of their bestsellers and coupled with great marketing and promotional campaigns, there is no doubt that they will succeed with their plans.
But I believe that word of mouth will bring them success already especially when people get to read the feedback from the first customers, like me, who were satisfied with our dining experience with them.

Alden Richards Adds Excitement to the Cadbury Dairy Milk Joy Wagon
Wazzup Pilipinas!
Cadbury Dairy Milk continues to #FreetheJoy with the Joy Fest and becomes doubly exciting with the special appearance of Alden Richards during the Joy Wagon event held at the Venice Grand Canal Mall on September 8, 2016.
Though the tandem of AlDub are both brand ambassadors of Cadbury, the magic alone of Alden was already enough to excite the event attendees. Imagine what would happen if Maine Mendoza aka Yaya Dub was also there. It could mean a lot of fans shrieking out loud in support of their idols.
Alden's majestic entrance was through the H2O Salamander dressed up as the Cadbury Joy Wagon - one that has wheels for the roads and could float on water like rivers or canals like that one at the Venice Grand Canal Mall, and especially during floods since our country is prone to be submerged under water due to heavy rains and flooded drainage. The H2O Salamander also has an advocacy component from which a community will benefit.
James Deakin, famous in the motoring world, was also there representing H2O Salamander as their brand ambassador and spokesperson during the event. He shared the significance of supporting the vehicle so that there would be communities that could be saved in times of calamities involving flooding.

2nd Don Papa Art Competition Launched
Wazzup Pilipinas!
Launched last November 11, 2015, the first Don Papa Art Competition yielded four award-winning artworks: the three above-mentioned, plus“Florescence of Endeavor” by Renz Bautista, which won the People’s Choice Award.
The second Don Papa Art Competition was launched on September 14 at the Mathilde Cafe along Kalayaan Avenue, Makati. This year’s competition will be open to both independent artists as well as artists represented by galleries. The top 10 finalists will be featured in a special Don Papa Exhibit at the 2017 Art Fair Philippines. The grand prize winning artwork will become the next featured design in the Don Papa Art Canister Series for 2017, while its artist will receive an Artist Residency Sojourn in Florence, Italy.
Don Papa Art Canister Series launches the Riel Hilario Edition in four Don Papa Rum markets: the Philippines, France, Germany, and the Netherlands this October. The two remaining Art Canister Editions will simultaneously be available this November in key retail outlets, such as Rustan’s, SM, S&R, and Ralph’s Wines and Spirits, to name a few. By December 2016, all three artworks will be available in the four world markets.
Don Papa Rum, the premium aged rum from the sugar island of Negros Occidental, Philippines, introduces the new set of award-winning designs in its Don Papa Art Canister Series. Composed of the winners in the 2015 Don Papa Art Competition, the Series features the top three artworks being incorporated into the canisters and packaging of Don Papa Rum.
First to be made available this October 2016 is the design by grand prize winner Riel Hilario called “The Spiritual Landscape of Papa Isio.” On its heels are two other award-winning artworks by Barry Cervantes and Anjo Bolarda.
“Don Papa and the Babaylan” is by first runner up winner Barry Cervantes, who also hails from Negros Occidental. The 3ft x 5ft acrylic on canvas painting is his nostalgic tribute to the stories he heard as a child growing up in Valladolid, Negros, about Papa Isio’s revolt against the Spaniards and the myths surrounding Mount Kanlaon. Papa Isio is Dionisio Magbuelas, the leader of the shamanistic babaylanes (priests, philosophers, and healers) who led a revolt in Negros in the 1890s. Mt. Kanlaon is an active volcano towering over the island, and is considered a sacred site by the people of Negros. “The painting depicts the soul of Papa Isio alongside a babaylan crowned with the images of struggle and the braveness of a true revolutionary icon that embodies the strong spirit of Negrosanons and the Babaylanes,” says Cervantes. Other images the artist portrayed in his painting include an erupting Mt. Kanlaon and a “bird that portrays death in a sacrificial way, in exchange for our sweet freedom.”
And the second runner up is a 2ft x 4ft ink on paper illustration by artist Anjo Bolarda. Inspired by the original packaging of Don Papa Rum, Bolarda chose to hand-draw the design of his “Untitled” piece as a nod to the hard work, meticulous craftsmanship, and the necessary time needed to produce excellent rum. His piece is also an appreciation for the exotic wildlife found in the dense rain forests surrounding Mt. Kanlaon, as well as a message of concern about the environment. “In the illustration you can find, peeking out from behind the stalks of the sugarcane, just some of the animals endangered and endemic to Negros Occidental,” says Bolarda. According to the artist, the animals in the design help localise the brand further, and make the packaging more relevant as it highlights the environmental issues of today.

8 Ways to Wow Anyone
Wazzup Pilipinas!
You’ve got a business but it’s not going as great as you want. Pump things up and transform your business into one that makes your customers go wow
There’s no use of having a business if it’s not earning anything, or if you don’t see it growing. So how do you put some wow into your business and start bringing in the big bucks? Swish knows you need the confidence to pump some life back into your biz, so they stalked motivational speaker and seasoned entrepreneur PJ Lanot to put back the wow factor in your business.
1. Trim off the fat from your life. If you want to have time to make your business boom, you’ve got to cut out the things in your life that won’t matter in the long run. Check your schedule and your commitments, and figure out what you can delete to make more time and energy for what really matters.
2. Bring it back to its infancy. PJ suggests that yes, you should have long-term plans for your business, but you always have to start small. “For example, may gusto kang gawin na bag. May nagawa ka na ba na sample? Kung wala pa, bakit ka na nagpapatayo ng factory? Kung lumalaki na ’yung demand, saka natin palakihin ’yan.”
3. Know the ins and outs of the biz. If you have a coffee shop but you’ve never tried out your own drinks or the coffee concoctions of your competition, that’s where your problem lies. You should know everything there is about your business, and be its number one customer. From knowing how to mix all the coffee drinks to the cleaning schedule of the bathroom, you should know all these details even in your sleep.
4. Focus on your strengths, and let someone else deal with your weaknesses. PJ says, “Kasi kung ’yung weakness mo gagawin mong strength, mapapabayaan mo ’yung oras mo na dapat nakalaan sa strength mo. To compensate, you partner up with someone who is an expert on that field (you are weak in).”
5. Treat your employees well. Filipinos are a hardworking bunch, and they find happiness in their work and working environment. If you think that “Well, they shouldn’t go to work to make friends”, then you might be making your employees unhappy. PJ says, “Ang mga Pilipino, if they’re going to stay for nine hours in a particular job, they think they should be happy. That’s their motivation. They value the working relationship, na naiintindihan sila ni boss. Filipinos are very loyal and full of heart, so you have to maximize that.”
6. Create a better product or service before your competitor does. If you want your customer to go “wow!” about your product or service, then it should be something that they haven’t seen before, or something that they need right now. PJ says, “You have to keep on innovating. If you think, it’s okay, I’m earning anyway, what happens when a stronger player comes along? Kinakain na ’yung sales mo, tapos doon ka palang magpla-plano? No business is safe right now, kailangan worldwide ang tinitignan na competition, and from there, you innovate before it’s too late.”
7. Keep on interacting with your customers. Besides knowing what your competitors are doing, it’s more important to know what your customers are craving for. Their needs always change, so you have to keep on meeting and exceeding their expectations. PJ compares putting up and sustaining a business to being in a relationship. “Kahit sabihin mo hindi naman sila nagrereklamo, kung makakita sila ng iba na can give them a better future, na pwede sila maging happier with, they’ll move there. Pero kung masaya naman sila sa’yo, they won’t even think of leaving.” So take time to constantly interact with the customers you serve and do so professionally, looking and acting the part of a winner. Put your best foot forward (look the pro that matches your brand identity and care enough to look kept, with your hair in place and your breath fresh with SWISH breath spray for a pump of customer confidence), but still remain honest and upfront.
8. Be confident in yourself and in your business, and your customers will feel the change. Confidence comes from knowing your strengths and weaknesses, and being true to you. The same thing can be said about your business—if you continue to tweak your business to show that you know your customers better than anyone, and you want to serve them better than anyone can, then they’ll start flocking to your biz in droves.
Harm Reduction: Most Effective and Compassionate Response to Drug Problem
Wazzup Pilipinas!
The Department of Health (DOH) should push for harm reduction strategies as a response to the country's drug problem.
During the government's National Health Summit attended by stakeholders, officials and employees of the health department, Hontiveros said that the 'war on drugs cannot be a war against the people, or worse, a war against the poor'. The senator urged the health department to play a crucial role in providing a public health framework in curbing drug addiction and trafficking in the country.
"In order for our government to succeed in its campaign against illegal drugs and trafficking, we must also respond to the health and social issues that lead to drug dependence", Senator Risa Hontiveros said.
Harm reduction
Hontiveros, who also currently serves as the Chairperson of the Senate Committee on Health, recently visited Thailand to study its health framework on drugs. She cited the country's effectiveness in pursuing a harm reduction strategy.
Hontiveros explained that harm reduction strategies will allow the creation of friendly, community-based drop-in centers and outreach services, encourage the uptake of health services through improved peer education and support, and spend resources on sustainable, evidence-based policies and interventions at the community level.
"Harm reduction is not only a compassionate response, it is also the most effective response", Hontiveros said.
The senator lamented the fact that there are only 44 drug rehabilitation centers in the country. "Clearly, much has to be done in this aspect", she said.
Universal Healthcare
The Senator also urged stakeholders to build the momentum towards universal healthcare' through public spending and localization.
The Senator also lauded the Duterte administration's decision to send the government's health officials to Cuba to the study their public health system. She said the visit is a step towards heavy public spending for health professionals, healthcare providers and health infrastructure to address hospital shortages and facility upgrades.
"Cuba-inspired super barangay health centers"
The Senator also urged the government to seriously study the possibility of building “super barangay health centers” similar to Cuba’s consultorios (clinics) and policlinicos (specialty clinics) to strengthen the role of our local government units, down to the barangay level, and bring healthcare to the farthest and to the fringes.
"Super barangay health centers could strengthen our current barangay health system by modernizing it with adequate facilities, personnel and expertise. Our barangays must become the people’s first line of defense against preventable diseases, especially with the emergence of new and dangerous viruses like the Zika," Hontiveros concluded.
Challenges in the Philippine Housing Industry to be Taken Up at the 25th SHDA Convention
Wazzup Pilipinas!
The Philippines has, in the last few years, experienced consistent economic growth, registering an increase in gross domestic product (GDP) by 6.3% in the last quarter of 2015, according to the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA). Revenues from the fast-growing IT-BPM (Information Technology and Business Process Management) industry and overseas Filipino remittances are major drivers of the economy. However, with such escalating growth also come accompanying challenges—one of them is housing.
The 25th Subdivision and Housing Developers’ Association (SHDA) National Convention will tackle “The Many Faces of Housing” to address the challenges and respond with appropriate and practicable solutions. It will be held at the Iloilo Convention Center, Megaworld Blvd, Mandurriao, Iloilo City from September 22-23, 2016. This annual event will gather more than 200 members of SHDA from all over the country.
As a partner in nation-building, the housing sector practitioners, of which the SHDA is the biggest organization in the Philippines, appreciate that they play a key role and must be aligned with the Duterte administration’s 10-point socio-economic agenda.
“Since the government, in partnership with the private sector, is mandated to undertake a comprehensive and continuing urban development and housing program under Republic Act 7279 or the Urban Development and Housing Act of 1992 —the policy directions of the government agencies, which practitioners in the housing industry deal with—shall be very crucial in crafting short-term as well as long-term plans,” said Rodel Racadio, national president of SHDA. The two-day program is well-crafted to address the needs of the private and public components of the sector.
Participants will be given the Prospects for the Philippine Housing Industry. Aside from the improving economy, an increase in population necessitates roofs over families’ heads. The population is projected to increase by more than a million annually—from about 95 million in 2011 to 126 million by 2030. These translate into 19 million households in 2011 to about 25 million by 2030.
There are many facets of housing that will be discussed during the convention: (1) Housing that is responsive to a family’s needs regardless of economic status, with socialized housing, low-cost housing, and economic housing. These strategies manifest the industry's involvement in ensuring inclusive growth. (2) The human resources to respond to the demands of the development of a housing project. The Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) even designed its own roadmap to keep pace with the requirements of the housing industry's roadmap. (3) In consideration of sustainability, the industry has espoused green building initiatives to minimize the effects of global warming, at the same time that it addresses the need to preserve nature. Housing developers also undertake activities to further their corporate social responsibility. (4) Adapting a long view, the government’s policy toward the sector is a positive step towards ensuring and enabling an environment that will allow housing developers to sustain their efforts to further grow the housing industry by pushing through with their housing development plans in 2016 and beyond.
Racadio promises that this year’s convention will be a memorable one. “We are optimistic that we can all work together--the government and the private sector—in order to continue advancing toward the fulfillment of goals encapsulated in the Housing Roadmap 2030.” With the concerted effort of the sectors represented, there is hope that the strides already made in the past years will gain and sustain their momentum.

5 Ways Social Media is Affecting Us Right Now
Wazzup Pilipinas!
Social media is very much part of anyone’s daily lives. It is used to keep the world updated about one’s life or to connect with people half way across the globe or to read the news or to even present one’s opinions to the world. A study from iPrice has found that people at least spend an average of 109 minutes a day on social media and have an average of 5 social media accounts. Astonishing, isn’t it?
With social media playing such a big role in many people’s lives, there are bound to be effects on society, be it positive or negative. So here are a few major effects that social media has on one’s life:
Always Keeping You Informed
With social media platforms like Facebook and Twitter, people find it so much easier now to be updated with the news as well as the latest trends. The social media platforms make it easy for users to learn about the main idea of a news story (and they can research more about it later on if they wish) or to even get immediate updates about a local disaster. Any frequent user of Facebook would be pleased to know that the social media site has launched a Safety Check service. This service allows people to notify their friends and family that they are safe, if there is human conflict or a natural disaster occurring in their nearby vicinity.
All for a Good Cause
As it is so easy to just share things on social media, NGOs can easily use social media to promote welfare activities or to even ask for donations. Not only that, social media platforms can even be used to create awareness that can be beneficial to others. As the platforms are always free and easy to use, social media gives everyone the chance to voice their own opinions about a subject, allowing everyone to view things from different perspectives. It also allows people to be more aware of the various issues around the globe, making people smarter and better informed.
Expanding Your Networking Circle
With the appearance of social media platforms like Facebook, Twitter and Instagram, it is gotten a whole lot easier for people across the globe to connect with each other. One may be on vacation a thousand miles away, but with the existence of social media, he/she can share photos with the folks back home with just a click of the button (and of course good Internet connection!). Not only that, anyone can use social media to expand one’s social circle. From to making new friends and reconnecting with old ones to finding love or even a job, social media is there to make things a lot easier to connect with other people!
Changing the Rules of Love the Wrong Way
With today’s world being so addicted to social media, it is no surprise these platforms are creating extra stress on relationships. While it is easy to find the One with the help of social media, it is just as easy to lose said person due to unnecessary conflicts that are created by social media platforms. In fact, social media platforms like Facebook can be a source of jealousy and anxiety for couples that decide to integrate themselves into each other’s online social media life. While it is easy to find if one’s other half has been cheating, it is just as easy for misunderstandings to occur as it is never easy to fully know all of one’s partner’s Facebook friends or to understand the nature of those relationships.
Where Bullying takes a Whole New Meaning
While bullying isn’t something new, social media and the Internet have definitely changed it over the years. Many years ago, before the appearance of social media, bullying would take place at schools or in neighborhoods. But these days, you don’t have to be near someone in order to bully them. In fact, social media has made it easy for people to bully others even if they are half way around the world. So acts must a person do in order for it to be considered as bullying on social media? As Facebook is the most common platform for bullying to occur on, actions like commenting negatively on a person’s pictures, posting abusive posts on a user’s wall or even making pictures/videos to make fun of another user can be considered as bullying.
Like with almost anything in life, there will be good sides and bad sides to social media. However, the pros definitely do outweigh the cons in this situation. It can definitely help people feel closer to other parts of the world as well as give any individual a wider perspective on the diverse mix of issues and views from around the world.

The All-New Mazda CX-3: A Crossover Like No Other
Wazzup Pilipinas!
Berjaya Auto Philippines, the exclusive distributor of Mazda vehicles in the country, has unveiled the latest addition to the Japanese brand’s new-generation vehicle lineup – the all-new Mazda CX-3 Freestyle Crossover Vehicle.
Born out of Mazda’s unrelenting desire to provide a unique compact crossover driving experience to the expanding sub-compact crossover market, the new CX-3 was designed from the ground up to deliver a captivating, powerful and one-of-a- kind vehicle for young, forward-thinking individuals and families.
Combining the best of both form and function, the Japan-made CX-3 is the sixth model to showcase both the company’s striking KODO: Soul of Motion design language and the highly efficient and innovative SKYACTIV suite of body, chassis, suspension, engine and drivetrain technologies.
“The new CX-3 is one of the most highly anticipated vehicles we have ever unveiled in the Philippine market,” shares Steven Tan, President and CEO of Berjaya Auto Philippines. He adds, “Its stylish looks, unmatched performance and impeccable build quality make it a vehicle that only Mazda could have created. We are confident this crossover for the new generation will give its future owners an uncompromising and unfettered driving experience worthy of their active and expressive lifestyles.”
Featuring the latest evolution of the KODO template, the new CX-3 uncompromisingly pursued the ideal forms and proportions as envisioned by Mazda designers in their quest to capture the hearts and minds of the new era of car owners. Bold, simple and vibrant expressions of movement characterize the new CX-3’s facade. Replete with striking details such as its aggressively raked A-pillar, the finely sculpted grill and LED lighting assemblies, short overhangs, a floating roof side line which is accentuated by the stylishly blacked out D-pillar, and 18-inch wheels in the top trim, the exterior is undeniably Mazda.
The new CX-3’s driver-oriented interior appropriately echoes its dynamic exterior. Similar to the high-end finish, and uncompromised build-quality, found in the rest of Mazda’s new-generation models, the new CX-3 does not scrimp when it comes to cabin amenities. Soft-to-the-touch panels with rich suede trimmings metallic and piano black accents line the cabin. A 7-inch touchscreen monitor housing the MZD-CONNECT infotainment system highlights the classy dash while the Active Driving Display HUD sits atop the meter cluster of the Sport and AWD Activ variants. And for the latter, leather seats with suede mid-sections and red accents add a touch of sportiness to an already dynamic design while a 7-speaker (with amplifier) BOSE entertainment system elevates listening pleasure for the driver and passenger alike. To accommodate long items at the back, a versatile rear seat layout which folds forward and up, opens up usable luggage space in the new CX-3.
Providing the impetus for the new CX-3’s dynamic driving feel is a class-leading 2-liter SKYACTIV-G Gasoline Direct-injection engine rated at 148ps at 6,000 rpm and mated to a 6-speed SKYACTIV-DRIVE automatic transmission. With a torque output of 192Nm coming in fully as low as 2,800 rpm, linear and powerful acceleration is guaranteed further ensuring an enjoyable experience behind the wheel. Similar to other new-generation Mazda vehicles, fuel economy has not been sacrificed in the name of performance. The new CX-3’s i-STOP engine idle-stop system helps keep gasoline consumption in check.
For those who refuse to be constrained by the limits of the road, the high-end AWD Activ variant of the new CX-3 features Mazda’s very own i-ACTIV All Wheel Drive system. This is the first all-wheel drive system to be employed in the sub-compact crossover segment. Like the CX-5 and CX-9 Sport Utility Vehicles, the new CX-3 AWD Activ’s capability to traverse varying road conditions is greatly enhanced thereby taking the Jinba Ittai, horse-and-rider-as-one, driving experience beyond the confines of the road.
As with all new-generation Mazda vehicles, the new CX-3 benefits from a rigid, yet light, SKYACTIV BODY and CHASSIS structure. Both contribute to the crossover’s lively driving performance and notable fuel-efficiency. Along with active and passive safety systems such as Anti-lock Brake System (ABS), Dynamic Stability Control (DSC), front, side and curtain airbags and standard 3-point seatbelts, the new CX-3 forms a complete and fully loaded package that confidently and stylishly puts it a class above its peers.
Mazda CX-3 units are all made in Japan. They are available in three variants - the FWD Pro which comes in Crystal White Pearl and Dynamic Blue; the FWD Sport with four colors – Crystal White Pearl, Soul Red, Jet Black and the trim-exclusive Titanium Flash; and the top-of-the-line AWD Activ which adds the Ceramic finish to its five-color palette. It also comes with Mazda’s value laden YOJIN3 TOTAL CARE package that comes with Free Periodic Maintenance Service for years (or 60,000-kilometers, whichever comes first), as well as free 3-year Emergency Roadside Assistance and New Vehicle Limited Warranty coverage for a period of three years or 100,000 kilometers, whichever comes first.

Isuzu Philippines Corporation Dazzles 6th PIMS Crowd with 2017 D-MAX and Derek Ramsey
Wazzup Pilipinas!
The latest models from Isuzu Philippines Corporation (IPC) serve as one of the main attractions in the most significant exhibition organized this year by the country’s premier automotive industry group—the Chamber of Automotive Manufacturers of the Philippines Inc. (CAMPI).
Taking the most prominent spot on Isuzu’s display floor at the 6th Philippine International Motor Show (PIMS), which runs from September 14 to 18 at the World Trade Center in Pasay City, is the 2017 Isuzu D-MAX, which IPC officially unveiled to much acclaim a few days prior to the motoring spectacle. At PIMS, the upgraded version of Isuzu’s popular pickup truck model duplicates its drawing power among consumers and auto enthusiasts alike.
The 2017 Isuzu D-MAX is characterized by numerous exterior styling changes that make the model look more muscular and modern, thanks to bolder hood, grille and bumpers, as well as LED Daytime Running Lamps, a tailgate with spoiler shape design and larger 18-inch alloy wheels fitted with 255/60 tires. The pickup’s interior was also refreshed with new electroluminescent instrument meters, colored multi-information display, passive entry with push-button engine start/stop function, and a gear indicator readout for the manual transmission variants. Besides the equipment upgrade, adding to the 2017 Isuzu D-MAX’s star quality is its new brand ambassador—sportsman, actor, model and host Derek Ramsay.
“The list of features available on the 2017 Isuzu D-MAX ensures that the pickup model become even more capable than it already was in its previous versions. It guarantees the Isuzu D-MAX’s advantage over the competition in the pickup truck segment by making the vehicle more appealing, and a true reflection of the values that have made Mr. Derek Ramsay such a popular personality. Like Mr. Ramsay, the Isuzu D-MAX is handsome, athletic, family-oriented and very socially responsible,” IPC President Hajime Koso said during Isuzu’s well-attended presentation at PIMS.
Three versions of the 2017 Isuzu D-MAX are displayed at Isuzu’s expansive floor space at PIMS—a 4x4 LS A/T in standard specifications and Obsidian Gray color, a Venetian Red 4x4 LS A/T that has a lifted ride height and is decked out in various off-road accessories, and a Splash White 4x2 LS M/T in special X-Series Edition. Boosting Isuzu’s PIMS attraction are two units of the mu-X premium SUV. The first variant is a mu-X 4x2 LS-A A/T in stunning Limited Edition package and Garnet Red color while the other is a standard specification mu-X 4x2 LS-A M/T painted in elegant Silky Pearl White.
Apart from IPC’s display in World Trade Center’s main hall, Isuzu truck models are also on exhibit at a special outdoor venue. Drawing show goers to the area are an Isuzu NPR 4x2 Double Cab and Chassis light-duty truck, and a CYZ51M dump truck and EXR Tractor Head with a chrome bumper, which are both designed for heavy-duty applications. The appearance of the commercial truck models in IPC’s exhibition in PIMS underscores the Isuzu brand’s capacity to deliver relevant vehicle products and services to any automotive market segment.
"The Philippine automotive industry is currently going through developments that have never been experienced before. The optimism over the local economy is leading to high consumer confidence, as proven by record vehicle sales, and car companies must respond to this very positive outlook by offering innovative mobility solutions. We in Isuzu believe that our products can ably address the expectations of the market, and our range of models displayed in this year’s Philippine International Motor Show gives a glimpse of this capability,” Koso said.
The sixth staging of the now-biannual PIMS gathers together 17 of the leading automotive manufacturers and distributors in the country in order to showcase the latest vehicle models and technologies available—or soon to be made available—to the domestic market. Bound by a common theme this year of “Steer the Future,” the 6th PIMS highlights the local automotive industry’s valuable contributions to the advancement of the country and its economy.
Along with IPC, participating at this year’s PIMS are CAMPI members BAIC, BMW, Daewoo Bus, Foton, Honda, Jeep, Kia, Lexus, Mazda, Mercedes-Benz, Mitsubishi, Nissan, Peugeot, Suzuki, Toyota and Volkswagen.
Apart from vehicle displays, also lined up at PIMS are a brand heritage exhibit, car club conventions, test-drives, drift-racing demonstrations, carwash facility, kids’ day-care activities, after-sales pavilion, off-road driving experience, workshops and seminars, and other automotive-related events.

Wazzup Pilipinas!
Nissan Philippines Inc. (NPI) once again brings Innovation that Excites to the local automotive market as it unveils for the first time in the Philippines the 2017 edition of the Nissan GT-R. The legendary super sports car, which was officially launched last September 14, 2016 during the 6th Philippine International Motor Show (PIMS) at the World Trade Center in Pasay City, showcased an exciting new look both inside and out, as well as major driving-performance enhancements and key new features. These represented the most significant changes made to the model since it was introduced in 2007.
“We are very excited introduce the iconic Nissan GT-R to the Philippine automotive market, as we continue on our quest to deliver innovation and excitement for everyone” said NPI President and Managing Director Ramesh Narasimhan. “These are certainly exciting times for Nissan. And with the addition of this highly anticipated vehicle into our expanding product line-up, we are looking forward to saying that Nissan truly is back and better than ever.”

We have continued to push its performance boundaries to the outer limits—it’s even more potent than before. At the same time, more refinement has been added to take the entire driving experience to an entirely new level. “The program shows PEUGEOT’S unwavering commitment to customer satisfaction. Potential buyers can enjoy a worry-free drive with every purchase of a brand-new PEUGEOT vehicle,” she added.
