Wazzup Pilipinas!
"The family that blogs together, staycations together!"
That's our family motto when my wife and kids became compulsory members of the Wazzup Pilipinas blog because I'm the founder. Well, that's more likely what we would want to do every now and then for the rest of our lives. There simply is nothing as relaxing as getting to lie back with your family at a place that's minus the stressful ambiance of work, or school, or even free from the daily chores at home.
It is only at a staycation where we get the chance to drop all the stuff that makes our life so busy, and find time to just hang out by a delightful indoor pool, dine at a fabulous restaurant, or just stay inside a classy and spacious two bedroom suite. Oh! I'm already describing the comforts and amenities at The Linden Suites!
Yup! That's where we recently had our family staycation for a weekend. We would love to stay longer, but since all of us have obligations back in the real world, the weekend days of Saturday and Sunday were the only days we could afford to let go and "frolic around like we just don't care."
Though we do care of what we are coming back to in the real world - where work for us and school for our kids awaits - It is comforting to be able to find time to steer away from worrying about what lies tomorrow because we need to pause for some time to refresh and rejuvenate for some quality family time.
After all, life was not meant for us to slave ourselves just to earn for a living. We should not forget to actually "live" in the process. Life is more meaningful when you give meaning to others, and we want to prioritize giving quality time to our children aside from the conveniences and luxuries in life.
We got a two-bedroom suite on the 20th floor for our family for this staycation. As you enter the room's short hallway, it reveals a spacious living room area to first greet you. Right beside was a small kitchen complete with more than just the basic appliances. We can practically cook in our room since there were also pots and pans available.
The suite has two rooms with a big bed each that were big enough for three people so one was used by our three kids and another for me and my wife. Both rooms have their own bathrooms complete with shower and bathtub. There were three LED TVs in total - one for each room and the third for the living room.
The living room has a large sofa set and even has its own sound system where you can dock your phone for music listening. The room also has a four seat dining table that's perfect for dining in. Though we had our breakfast and dinner at the Mesclun Restaurant and Cafe located at the 2nd floor, the dining table was used for our snack time preparations.
You can read about our dining experience at Mesclun from our previous blog about the restaurant.
Having two rooms, plus a living room, gave us three views of the outside where one we could see the nearby buildings of San Miguel Corporation, SM Megamall, and the rest of Ortigas. Since it was a weekend, there were not too many people around to see.
Below are the better photos taken from the hotel's official Facebook page. Since I don't have the proper lighting and high-end camera and equipment, I believe the hotel looks so amazing when the facilities are taken by a professional photographer.
Going around the hotel, you'll find at one of the floors their indoor pool along with the gym nearby. Those are the best places inside the hotel where you can spend a lot of time during the staycation. Swimming in an indoor pool is always better than having to burn your skin under the heat of the sun. The gym is always a favorite destination every morning or late afternoon depending on what kind of person are you.
Of course, since we are all foodies, the Mesclun Restaurant and Cafe has become so memorable because there is where we got to try very sumptuous meals for both our breakfast and dinner. We ordered everything we like during dinner time - as in at least one from every meal category except the familiar Filipino dishes. Our dessert was different for each member of the family, but our drinks were mostly mango smoothies, except I had the drink which was a potent mix of veggies and fruits - the Power Shake!
We were early for dinner that night so we had the restaurant almost all to ourselves. Kudos to all the staff who were very friendly enough to assist us in choosing the highly recommended dishes. Read all about our dining experience on a separate article.
Breakfast was Filipino buffet so we dig in to everything on the buffet table. As expected, there were a lot of people having their breakfast since it's complimentary for every hotel. Since it's a buffet breakfast, you are assured your tummy will be happy. If I had a bigger tummy, I would have done a second plate but trying out a piece of everything was good enough for me.
My kids spent the rest of the morning before the 12 noon checkout watching cartoons on television while I check on my emails and social media accounts using the speedy Wi-Fi Internet access of the hotel. They allotted us four access accounts so four devices can access the Internet at the same time.
Checking out was a bit long as there were so many people transacting at the lobby. It seems that weekend was extra busy for the hotel as it was almost the same scene when we were checking in. If it took us 15 minutes before we got served during check-in, it took around 30 minutes during check-out. The hotel must be popular for a crowd to be patronizing its services.
Why not, since the hotel is at the center of the Ortigas business district, just a stone's throw away from one of the biggest malls in the country, it's a great spot to spend your night if you have business deals around the area. Or if you are just like us who wants the conveniences to be just walking distances away, then The Linden Suites is one of the best places to stay.
Thank you to The Linden Suites hotel for a fabulous family staycation! Our family of five salutes you for making our stay very memorable indeed!
