The CBCP says Madonna’s concert in the Philippines were among the “subtle attacks of the evil one.” Do you agree?
The 57-year-old “Like A Virgin” and “Erotica” hit-maker cavorted on a giant cross-shaped stage during two concerts on Wednesday (February 25), and another one on Thursday (February 26), as part of her global “Rebel Heart” tour.
A few days before, a certain Lipa Archbishop Ramon Arguelles also expressed his disgust towards the International Pop Star. This goes the same with other countries , like Singapore, where the Rebel Heart Tour met similar denouncement behavior among the church people. The Filipino Archbishop echoed his Singaporean counterpart's call to shun Madonna's tour. "There is no neutrality in faith; one is either for or against. Being present (at these events) in itself is a counter witness," says Archbishop William Goh of Singapore.
"It's not even her real name. She is just using (Madonna) to taunt Mother Mary." They are also asking "Why is the Catholic Philippines the favorite venue for blasphemy against God?" Catholic officials in Philippines encourage fans not to show up to Madonna's concert. But how many listened? “Before it was Lady Gaga. Now it is Madonna. Why is Catholic Philippines the favorite venue for blasphemy against God and the Holy Mother?” said Lipa Archbishop Ramon Arguelles.
Some politicians, like senatorial candidate Francis Tolentino also has some negative comments about the Material Girl "You penalize a guy for something he’s already apologized [for], and yet you patronize all of these things in shows, you have a fully-bookedMadonna show forthcoming." from which he is referring to the Manny Pacquiao incident where the "Pacman" expressed an opinion towards same-sex marriage and sexual relationships calling it "masahol pa sa hayop." Meanwhile, other politicians, like JV Ejercito, was seen watching the show.
Popular Filipino personalities like Vice Ganda, Anne Curtis-Smith, Derek Ramsey, Ciara Sotto, Vicky Belo, Iza Calzado, and other celebrities where seen also going all out for the Queen of Pop @madonna's concert at @MOAArena!
The elaborate, custom-made stage, audio and other equipment, weighing 40 tons, were flown in by three Boeing jets to Manila from the tour’s Macau stop Feb. 20 and 21. Designed by Stufish, the architectural firm that also did the sets of tours of The Rolling Stones, U2, Elton John and the 2008 Beijing Olympics opening ceremony, the Rebel Heart stage’s vertical length is almost as long as the entire floor area of MOA Arena. Its shape is a hybrid between a cross, an arrow and a heart, with long catwalks and three stages. Thomas noted that there are elements in the show that have never been seen around the world before this tour.
Madonna wants the same quality of her concerts, whether in London or Manila. Nobody will get shortchanged, said Tres Thomas, senior vice president and tour director of Live Nation, organizer of the Queen of Pop’s Rebel Heart Tour which is being promoted in Manila by Music Management International (MMI).
Madonna's concert tour is rated R18 with an advisory on 'sexual references'. The 57 year old pop star still commands the adulation of both the young and young-once, despite the presence of acts much, much younger than her.Lipa Archbishop Ramon Arguelles can excommunicate the fans but there are apparently many people who will pay more than 57K to see her gyrate on stage.
"We’re all digital, we’re all vulnerable and everything’s instant — so instant. Instant success and instant failure. Instant discovery, instant destruction, instant construction. It’s as splendid and wonderful as it is devastating. Honestly, to me it’s the death of being an artist in many ways.” — Madonna

But hats off to Madonna as wel for taking time to visit the Bahay Tuluyan Foundation and Hospicio De San Jose orphanages and child care centers. Madonna was seen "chilling with her homies" as posted on her Instagram account. Madonna spent time with the kids, dancing and interacting with them. Madonna took selfies with kids a day before the start of her two-night concert stint in the Philippine capital. She posted that "Everyone needs a tickle!! Even at the Hospicio de San Jose in Manilla! 💘. We are so blessed🙏🏻 ❤ #rebelhearttour" -Madonna." Though some people would just call it as another "show," we all know this "rebel heart" singer has a history of adopting children too.

The Catholic churches ask "Should we support the ‘pseudo arts’ that promote sensuality, rebellion, disrespect, pornography, contamination of the mind of the young, abusive freedom, individualism at the expense of the common good, vulgarity, lies and half-truths?”

Is it ultimately up to the public to decide if they wish to watch the Madonna concert. In a Catholic country such as the Philippines, it is still surprising to see many flock the SM MOA Arena in Pasay city to watch the Madonna Rebel Heart Tour concert despite clamor from the church leaders.
