Wazzup Pilipinas!
I received the email message below yesterday (January 1). What a great way to start the year.
"Hi Ross,
In behalf of __________, I would like to express our gratitude for your excellent write up of our restaurant. The positive exposure you gave us on social media provided us with a nice introduction. Customer response has dramatically increased since then and we hope to maintain this upward momentum with quality food and great service at reasonable prices.
As 2015 ends, We wish you a Happy New Year and we would like to give you Gift Certificates. These can be availed at _____________ Quezon City. You may call ___________ for time of pick up or reservation.
Here's my mobile for any concerns __________.
Best,

It reminded me that there are yet so many Gift Certificates we have in our possession that still needs to be claimed. Actually, many of the GCs have already expired already due to so many months of being unused. What I don't like about them is the fact that they have expiration dates. It is not so convenient on my part to visit the establishments just to claim the GCs so they are usually remain in storage until I have the opportunity to have an event within the area where the establishments are located.
Thus, I agreed to my wife when she asked if we wanted to go out and eat. The reason was because it was going to be our son's birthday on January 6. We couldn't celebrate it during school time because all of us will be very busy even on weekends. My kids would often complain of too much homework and projects at school that their weekends are never free. The weekends are also wash days for my wife so everyone is just too occupied in chores.
So we set forth to dine at one of the restaurants at the Bonifacio Global City in Tagig. Our destination was at the Slappy Cakes restaurant located at SM Aura. This is where my family and I enjoyed a filling lunch after a visit the its Saint Pedro Calungsod chapel located at the 7th floor.
Mind you, we used GCs given to us several months ago. They were actually a birthday gift last October from a PR company who remembered my birthday. Thanks to them, my family and I were able to have a splendid lunch on the second day of the year.
We wanted to celebrate on January 1 itself but there were simply too many food at home.

I asked my kids to rate the food from 1 to 10 being 10 as the highest and they all said 7. They should know well to judge the quality of the food, at least in taste and presentation, because we've eaten at so many different restaurants already.
Most of the dining experience were because of the GCs I get from my blogging practice. Fortunately, I would bring home a few of them every now and then especially when I get invited to review a restaurant.

The Cheeseburger was appealing in both look and taste. That is a great treat that even the cubed potatoes were delightful add-ons.
I have to rate the Smoked Salmon and Avocado Toast at a high for exceeding my expectations. It may not be a big serving but still the taste has always been my top priority.
The cover photo above is the Toad in a Hole. The serving seems big because of the huge sweet bread. Why do they call it a Toad in a Hole. I don't want to spoil the fun for you but my daughter loved it so you really have to try it yourself.

Looking back throughout the years (even though I'm just approaching my third year for Wazzup Pilipinas), I can't help but to wallow in the wow. Being able to receive perks like these are always appreciated. Though some people may look at it as being materialistic and others perceive we are only after these freebies, bloggers do not really intend to hoard everything we can get from the different events we attend, or the many ex-deals we are able to close.
2015 was very good to me. I can proudly say my achievements were more than phenomenal. However, there are still others which I was not able to please. They continue to become leeches waiting for opportunities to strike whenever they sense you have done some shortcomings.
But I am not going to irritate myself just because of people who are obviously mentally unstable. I will continue to wallow in the wow. Just as I did yesterday, and those days, weeks, months and years before that. I will take the awesome memories with me as I traverse an epic future.
Today I am wallowed in the wow everytime I took a bite of the yummy food that we were able to order because of the GCs. It only took us to add a few hundred pesos to settle our bill. The GCs helped a lot because we may not have taken the time off to go to Slappy Cakes just to have lunch. Remember that it was a only a day after the New Year so there are still a lot of left-over food back at home.
What we celebrated that day was not the perks of being a blogger but the chance to bond together as a family with special thanks to the fact that it would not have been possible if I were not a blogger. Not everyone gets the opportunity to receive the same.
As bloggers, the perks and freebies we receive are not payments for the article we wrote about a product, service or company. They are souvenirs from the experience of being able to be a part of a launch, a press conference, and every other activity we get to be invited.

Permit us to wallow in the wow because they are simple joys that we love to cherish.
