Media for Hire: Token or Not Token, That is the Question
Wazzup Pilipinas!
Do we really need to specify what the complimentary "token" will be for every event invite that we help organize?
Does it really matter if there's a token or not?
We once told someone that getting invited to an event, especially if it's a direct invite (and not just a plus one or a recommendation from another media) is already a privilege because that means the organizers strongly believe we have the influence to help them share the news about their products, brands or services. The token given is just a bonus. The invite is enough as a reward because not everyone gets the honor of being part of an event.
We were laughed at.
It saddens us so much that some would need to ask for the details of the token before they agree to attend an event. We don't usually ask the organizers what particular items they will give, but sometimes we are forced because some would require to be compensated handsomely.
The right to be picky and ask for a specific "talent fee" is probably just for those that already have built a name for themselves as among the widely recognized and influential. Perhaps those who already have a "handler" managing their career are somewhat entitled. Those who have attained celebrity status can possibly demand their "asking price."

Delivering Quality Healthcare On Wheels
Wazzup Pilipinas!
While relief goods and medication are being transported to the victims of typhoon Yolanda, ten doctors in some of the country’s remote communities are bicycling their medical assistance to Filipino patients who do not have access to immediate healthcare even during fair weathers.
On the heels of the typhoon’s onslaught last November 2013, Primer Group of Companies—a company known for engaging in the retail and distribution of premium consumer brands in outdoor, fashion, wellness, and urban lifestyle—has dedicated itself to heeding the calls of vulnerable Filipinos through the C.O.R.E.’s Heroes on Wheels.
The C.O.R.E. is the advocacy arm of Primer Group which aims to convert the masses to heed the calls of environmental conservation, ecotourism, and community development.
In partnership with the Department of Health’s Doctors to the Barrios (DTTBs), the C.O.R.E. created its Heroes on Wheels program to strengthen the support networks of communities in times of need with the use of proper outdoor equipment.
According to Tin Villaflor, C.O.R.E. Program Officer, the Heroes on Wheels program provides its beneficiaries with the appropriate outdoor gear and transportation mechanism to immediately reach inaccessible areas.
This time, ten bikes were distributed to ten esteemed local community doctors.

99% of Filipinos Suffer From Food Intolerance
Wazzup Pilipinas!
Reactions to certain foods are quite common. However, some reactions go unnoticed until certain abnormal manifestations occur – internally (physiological) or externally (physical, i.e. on skin).Where food ALLERGY has almost an immediate reaction, food INTOLERANCE, on the other hand, does not immediately manifest. Sometimes, it takes as much several months or as short as days for symptoms to be obvious.
According to Nutrition and Lifestyle Counselor Ginny Sinense-Marksl, RND, food intolerance often occurs in people who eat normal or even very common food substance (rice, egg, dairy, wheat) that they are highly sensitive to. These foods cause inflammations in their body that could manifest as allergy-like reactions such as diarrhea, bloating, stomach cramps and at times, skin rashes that almost never seem to subside. Also, it could be one of the major reasons why it is difficult to manage any weight problem.
Food intolerance may involve some or all the same symptoms as food allergies. “While food allergies are acute reactions to a particular food substance and can cause life-threatening symptoms, food intolerance is chronic and less severe but, nevertheless aggravating to optimum health,” said Marksl.
A number of reactions surface when a person is found to be intolerant on a specific food item. However, some people could still eat small amounts of food they are “intolerant” to without any immediate physiological or physical reaction.
Forbidden City: A Visit To the Largest City in China
Wazzup Pilipinas!
The Forbidden City is the Chinese largest city of China and has a collection of very well preserved ancient buildings and largest palace complex across the world. It is called Forbidden City as it was off the limits for 500 years. The city is known as Palace Museum although majority of Chinese address it Gu Gong.
The Hall of Supreme Harmony is the largest and most important structure in Forbidden City. It was built in 15th century and restored in 17th century to be used for ceremonial occasions like birthday of emperor, coronations and nomination of the military leaders. There is Dragon Throne which has been richly decorated, inside Hall of Supreme Harmony. The emperor presided over the officials from here. Entire court was required to touch their forehead to floor nine times in presence of emperor. Hall of Middle Harmony, which is smaller, is behind Hall of Supreme Harmony and was used as transit lounge of emperor. He would rehearse his speeches here, have last-minute preparations and receive close ministers. Hall of Preserving Harmony is third hall that was used for the banquets and then for imperial examinations. There are no support pillars in the hall and has marble imperial carriageway weighing 250-tonne, carved with clouds and dragons. Visit China by availing the best discount using cleartrip coupons.
Tourists could enter using U-shaped Meridian Gate at south end of complex. This entrance was earlier meant only for use of emperor. Coming and going of imperials was indicated by sounding of bells and gongs. Lesser mortals made use of lesser gates. West gate was used by military and east gate by the civilians. From here the emperor reviewed armies, gave judgment on the prisoners, oversaw flogging of the troublesome ministers and announced calendar of New Year. Using Meridian Gate, you will reach Gate of Supreme Harmony. An audience of 100,000 could be held in this courtyard.

Be Safe When the Weather Turns Wild
Safety is the best policy.
The Philippines is no stranger to the strongest and wildest typhoons that pass through the Pacific every year. Dealing with tropical storms, rains, and other weather disturbances is part and parcel of every Pinoy’s life beginning in May.
With the advent of the rainy season, motorists must prepare for the worst-case scenario when it comes to their vehicles. Vehicles take a lot of beating during the wet, wild, and dangerous rainy season, so cars, trucks, jeeps and vans must be in tip-top shape before they are ridden.
For Michelin Tires, safety is the No. 1 concern. Thus motorists must take heed of the following important advice.
1. Listen to weather reports. Check out newspapers, television, radio and the interneteveryday to have an idea about the weather. If it’s raining, look for alternative routes that are not susceptible to floods. If possible, postpone your trip and wait until the weather clears.
2. Check everything thoroughly.Look for leaks, broken lights, or dangling wires. Double check your radiator, engine oil, wheel alignment, and tire pressure. Always bring a bag or container with an umbrella, flashlight, car tools, and even a mini-radio. It always pays to be prepared in case of an emergency.
Charlotte Airs the Same Day as Japan on Animax Asia
Wazzup Pilipinas!
An original anime production by prolific writer Jun Maeda is premiering first and exclusively on Animax – Asia’s first 24-hour Japanese anime channel.
Renowned Japanese visual studio Key has come together with Progressive Animation (P.A.) Works for Charlotte, which will air on the same day as its Japan telecast on Animax Asia, in July. Boasting local subtitles including English, Bahasa Indonesia, Mandarin and Thai, the anime was written by Key’s co-founder Jun Maeda, who is also contributing to the musical score. The anime will also feature character designs by fellow Key colleague Na-Ge. The two had worked with the same producers on popular 2010 anime Angel Beats! and together, the dream team promises to conjure up the same magic in Charlotte.
Charlotte, rumoured to have been based on Maeda’s own early life, is set in an alternate world where a few children come into unusual superpowers upon puberty. One of the colouful characters is Jōjirō Takajyō, who can move so fast he appears to be teleporting. There’s also student singer Yusa Nishimori, who can communicate with the dead. The children are enrolled into Houshinomi Academy, which has its own student council for guiding those who encounter problems with their newfound abilities.
A Big Bravo for a Triumphant Preview of The Normal Heart
Wazzup Pilipinas!
HIV, usually labelled as God’s punishment upon homosexuals, is now infecting us at a rate of 22 people a day but is still largely ignored because it is looked upon as a “fringe” disease that affects only gay people.
What are we doing about it?
Commendable are the people behind the Actor's Actors Inc.'s The Necessary Theater for coming up with the critically acclaimed masterpiece such as activist Larry Kramer's The Normal Heart. Bart Guingona, it's director and lead actor, cannot deny that it is sensitive and timely material that is not easily accepted by the masses since many are still closeted and are fearful of coming put and be prosecuted.
Can love remain resilient even in the face of something as permanent as death? Should love be the one to initiate a strengthen effort to pursue our rights to receive immediate health care and solution from the government.
Do we deserve the engagement and cooperation of every journalist out there? Or is this disease still considered as marginalized to the community of queers, that it is forever downplayed.
SevenFriday Swiss Watches: Substance and Sophistication for Every Dapper Man
Wazzup Pilipinas!
We're sharing to you the official press release from SevenFriday fresh from the recent media event held at the SM Fashion Hall Megamall branch last June 30, 2015 where we had a chance to interview the founder, Daniel Niederer.
I'm still transcribing the interview which was so hard to comprehend because of the ambient noise during the event so it will just be released at a later time soon.
The Swiss watch brand is remarkably impressive in both form and function that it is a huge disappointment if you miss this one as a must have for every lifestyle trend follower. At a price of 84k as the most expensive, the brand is a lot more affordable than its few counterparts.
With 12 models to choose from for both men and women, there is bound to be a design that you will fall in love with.
Sincerely, I would have bought one already right there and then if only I had the budget. I may have to settle for the meantime with my current timepiece, and buy one of the SevenFriday's on the next pay time.
Daniel was so very accommodating, and looks really good even while wearing two watches. When asked if he regularly wears a pair, he jokingly said it's best when you want to sneak fast through airport security. Lol.
The two watches he was wearing had some difference in design and features, so why
not if you want to wear two at the same time.

Red Turnip Theater Opens New Season With ‘Musical’ Play “33 Variations”
Wazzup Pilipinas!
33 Variations by Moises Kaufman is a musical play about the story of renowned musicologist Katherine Brandt. A mother coming to terms with her daughter. A composer coming to terms with his genius. It is a story of mothers and daughters and the legacies we long to leave behind.
The plot sets a fraught mother-daughter relationship to late music by Beethoven's “Diabelli” Variations, a piano work that riffs daringly and expansively on a seemingly pedestrian waltz written by the Viennese music publisher Anton Diabelli.
It is a sort of cultural-metaphysical detective story somewhere between a biographical psychodrama and a time-traveling, serious playfulness. The play moves between past and present, as Katherine pursues her sleuthing among a collection of manuscripts in the Beethoven-Haus in Bonn, Germany.
The play opens on July 24 and runs weekends until August 23 at Whitespace, Makati. Jenny Jamora, theater actress and Red Turnip's Theater co-founder, also makes her directorial debut here.
Below is the official press release of Red Turnip Theater's new third season opener:
Manila Improv Festival 2015 To Be Held On July 2-12

Silly People’s Improv Theatre (SPIT) is the country’s premiere improvisational theatre group known for their smart and incisive brand of comedy. Considered as one of the best improv comedy troupes in Asia, SPIT has had almost a thousand performances in the last decade to both local and international audiences whose combined numbers easily run up to the thousand. SPIT has represented the Philippines in the Los Angeles, Beijing and Hong Kong Comedy Festivals, and the Improv Festivals in New York and Chicago, and more recently, the Amsterdam Improv Festival in January of this year.
Improvisational theatre is a form of theatre where scenes are co-created by the audience and the actors in real time, without the benefit of a script or prior rehearsals for the performers. Because of this method, watching an improvised theatre show is more akin to performance art due to its non-conventional approach.
This year, Manila International Improv Festival 2015 is happening on July 2-12, 2015. This performance art festival is a partnership with two prominent Philippine institutions. Silliman University in Dumaguete will host our Tropical Improv Camp from July 2-5, and the Philippine Educational Theatre Association (PETA) will be our partner venue where all theatre performances will be held on July 8-12, 2015.

Vista Land Site Appreciation Tour: Cottonwoods
Wazzup Pilipinas!
I used to be so envious when I hear about colleagues or friends able to purchase properties through the help of their companies' housing loan program. This means they can afford the monthly amortization out from their salaries.
But when I heard about some entrepreneurs that were able to purchase better homes out from their profits, then I knew there was still plenty of hope for the persistent who is willing to take the risk in setting up their own business.
What really amazed me was when they also shared their strategy in earning a few more extra bucks by investing in stocks and real estate. They say if you want to gamble a little but earn big time, get into stocks, but if you really want an almost 100% sure profit, purchase properties.
Of course he was referring to houses and lots. These are investments that will not give you a hard time in enjoying the profits immediately. You'll just have to wait a few years and your investment already multiplied.
Our next tour that's part of the Vista Land Site Appreciation Tour is at Cottonwoods in Antipolo. The community offers American Country-style houses.
Vista Land Site Appreciation Tour: Mille Luce
Wazzup Pilipinas!
We've been going around touring the many communities available developed by the Vista Land group. It has been a blast when the organizers decided we visit more than one within a day. The traffic congestion due to blocked roads at the Bonifacio Global City because of a racing event, and the unfortunate rainy weather didn't stopped us from pushing through with our plans.
So from Sucat, Paranaque, we travelled to Antipolo which is famous for its cashew nuts and the church where you normally take your brand new car for blessing.
The elevated streets of Antipolo makes it less prone to flooding, and it's still mostly surrounded with greens making it a fresher alternative as compared with the rest of Metro Manila.
I once contemplated on buying a home there due to the amazing scenery especially when you're at the upper portions of Antipolo.
Maybe it's about time I reassess that longing. A visit at two of the Vista Land properties here made me rethink of my earlier plans.
The First YouTube Fanfest Live in Manila
Wazzup Pilipinas!
What does it take to be sensationally a real hit in YouTube?
Some say you need to be good looking for the serious stuff like covers, uniquely funny if you want to be a comic, and sings exceptionally well because all that good looks is nothing if you're out of tune (but you can still get on the comic side because you're still damn pleasing to the eyes.
But there seem to be a lot more people making comedy videos since we all appreciate a good laugh all the time.
The Philippines has its own share of personalities with millions of YouTube views. They are the really talented individuals who are very confident to express themselves infront of the camera even though they'll eventually be either criticized or praised.
If you have the guts to fail, then you would most likely become the one to succeed. It all takes half the talent and half the confidence to succeed as a YouTube idol.
We were definitely thrilled by a sensational mix of music, comedy and beauty when YouTube stars from the Philippines and around the world gathered for the first YouTube FanFest live in Manila last June 26, 2015.

Vista Land Site Appreciation Tour: La Posada
Just recently, we visited three more Vista Land properties. The whole day was spent admiring the many properties available for a lifestyle that we rightfully deserve if we truly work hard for it. Yup! I must emphasize on "hard work" which nowadays would also include those who setup their own business to become their own boss. The booming industry composed of young startups and entrepreneurs is a sign that many really want to excel in their respective fields and live the life they've always wanted, and not remain tied up to an 8 to 5 job in the corporate world.
With so many great achievers who achieve their first million in a matter of just a few months, who wouldn't want to explore the possibilities of leaving their job as a mere employee and struggling to make a name on their own among the many companies out there.
Everyone of us has a dream to live a life of luxury and it's always the best investment to spend a considerable portion of our first earnings in saving up to buy our dream home. We call it a home and not simply as a house because it is where we will spend time to relax and enjoy the comforts and indulgences brought about by our hard work. It is also where we will be with our family and loved ones where their smiles would often cheer us up and relieve the stress every time we are home from work or our business.
To continue with Part Two of our Vista Land Site Appreciation Tour, our first stop is at La Posada. The property is an exclusive 7-hectare San Francisco inspired development from Brittany. It is a luxury residential community within the 60-hectare Lakefront at the heart of Sucat, Paranaque.
Vista Land Site Appreciation Tour: Ponticelli Gardens
Wazzup Pilipinas!
The best investment that will never likely fail would always be real estate. It doesn't take a genius to figure out that property values would always rise exponentially especially after modernization of the surrounding vicinities. You're in the best of luck if something grand like a mall would be constructed nearby the community you chose to reside. Or maybe when popular celebrities take interest on owning homes in the same community. Now wouldn't it be such an amazing bragging right to say my neighbor is a famous television host, a basketball superstar, or a teen heartthrob from a daily "teleserye?" The value of your property will surely be skyrocketing all the way into space!
This is why smart individuals with the financial affluence, or the extra money to spare, would always consider buying properties as an investment even if they already have several homes. Nothing beats owning a piece of land or house that you can either use or sell in the future.
Your kids would also appreciate leaving them an inheritance that's always hot in the market. They may chose to live there or use them for weekend relaxation. Whatever they wish to make use of the property, the value would always be more than just financially rewarding. It would be a lifetime of being grateful for such wise parents who knows where to put their hard-earned money.
Crown Asia of Vista Land took us along several of their property tours to give us a glimpse of how grand and reasonably priced their developments are.

NICT Summit 2015: Meaningful Discussions on Government ICT Updates
Wazzup Pilipinas!
Senator Bam Aquino is asking why we seem to be advancing in information and communication technology (ICT) but still have slow Internet infrastructures. During the National Information and Communication Technology Summit 2015 (NICT Summit 2015) held last June 23 and 24 at Hotel Intercontinental Manila, several attendees mostly coming from ICT departments of government agencies were given updates regarding ICT projects happening within the government, and how private corporations and ICT vendors are partnering towards a digital Philippines.
A national Information and Communication Technology (ICT) policy seeks to establish a transparent and accountable government through the expansion of ICT and its multifaceted use ensuring skilled human resource development.
The policy also aims to enhance the standards of citizen service through the comprehensive and effective use of ICT which is now the major medium of development.
Governments around the world take ICT development seriously due to its many economic potentials.
Developing the ICT and telecom sector should be a key imperative for the present government and authorities. They should take multiple initiatives to improve the required infrastructure, and that would require partnering with the private entities.
