Wazzup Pilipinas!
3D printing is awesome! It's a promising capability that may soon be available in every home. It may still be a bit expensive at the moment, but when people start to realize the many possibilities using this technology, the equipment, materials and service would soon be reasonable!
We are so much interested in exploring this technology that we partnered with a company that offers the very first online 3D Printing service - Shapecloud!
Since it's our first time to have an item of our own preference printed using 3D printing technology, we had to work closely with the company in determining the actual look of what we proposed as a trophy project. One majestic symbol that we could soon use to reward or recognize our dedicated correspondents, partners, and sponsors for being part of the WazzupPilipinas.com team.
We met Erick Chua, founder of Shapecloud.ph at the Philippine 3D Printing and Digifab Conference and Exhibit held at the SMX Convention Center of SM Aura. I was one of the media partners of the event and visited the event on its second day together with Elison Barcelo, the CEO of Vigattin Radio of Radyo Inquirer DZIQ 990 AM, to get some photos for the article that I would write about the event. Elison and I just came from our radio show in Makati and had lunch nearby at Skippy's Bar and Grill restaurant located at Forum BGC. The restaurant were celebrating their 2nd year anniversary that month and they invited us over for some celebration.
We invited Erick, along with other exhibitors at the event, to be one of our guests at our radio show also this September. We planned to have three of them, all providing 3D printing services, so we can talk about the technology and how the Philippines is now perceiving its usage.
A couple of days afterwards, we received an email from Erick inviting us to collaborate further aside from the radio show. "it was interesting to find out that the show was geared towards startups, and I just wanted to send a message on behalf of our group. I'm just reaching out should there be any thoughts in terms of collaborations, or if there were any other ideas in mind!" says Erick.
I then eagerly replied "You may send us existing stories or press releases about Shapecloud.ph so we can feature you in our site. For the radio, we are already thinking of including you among our guests as soon as we can find a schedule.
At my end, I was thinking of featuring Shapecloud.ph and would like it to revolve around a 3D image project so we could personalize the story. Will it be possible to create a trophy-like image or sculpture prominently bearing the WazzupPilipinas.com logo at the base or somewhere more appropriate base on the design you can come up with?
That will be a very interesting topic for us as we show (step-by step on video and photos) and discuss how it was made, and very useful for us in case we want to pursue with our blogging awards in the future. It will also look good on our work desk."

The discussion through e-mail went on for a few more days when Erick requested for the high resolution vector image of our logo. It took me quite a while before I could submit since I had to look for the files, and we got to continue with the discussion after a few days because I was too busy with so many events, media partnerships and other obligations. But as soon as I was able to send the image, Erick was quick to reply back "We're happy to let you know that we've taken some time to think about the WP project, and wanted to show you our progress so far turning your 2D logo into a hand fit 3D trophy prototype."
The image you see above was just the preliminary idea for the trophy. What can you say about the design? This was the status during week 1 - from August 10 to 14. We already did some minor changes, as of today, but we wanted to share updates of the project on a weekly basis. We will be blogging about the progress so you'll be part of this exciting journey towards the completion of the WazzupPilipinas.com trophy.
