United in Support of Breastfeeding: LATCH Photo Exhibit Urges Everyone to Patronize Mother's Milk

Wazzup Pilipinas!

Just in case you missed it, there was a photo exhibit that was on display at Greenbelt 5 Gallery last August 26 to 30, and was organized by a noble organization that's called LATCH (which stands for Lactation, Attachment, Training, Counselling, Help) which offers quality lactation education and peer counseling services to mothers who choose to make the wise and healthier decision of proving breastfeeding to their babies.

Many parents have been influenced by several multinational milk companies to think that infant formula is the most practical way to nourish their children. We often forget that milk that come from cows are totally inferior if compared to our very own mothers' milk. There is no doubt that any kind of milk from any animal would not equal in nourishment with the milk coming from human mothers.

Babies deserve the milk from their own mothers. It is the most sensible act that we should practice, and we should help share this information to everyone else who have been falsified with the wrong information brought about by massive marketing and advertising methods.

These are the thoughts that LATCH wants to share to every mother out there so the future generation could all benefit from drinking the real "milk."

LATCH believes that the past generations have been deceived to believe that breastmilk substitutes offers better nutritional value. It is high time we correct that perception. We should reach out to all our friends, relatives, colleagues, and other acquaintances to help educate them of the advantages of breastfeeding.

I was able to interview Charmaine Wang, spokesperson and one of the members of LATCH, during the exhibit launch last August 26, 2015 at the Gallery of Greenbelt 5.

You'll get to listen to her on as I asked several questions pertaining to the overview of LATCH and the selection of ambassadors to advocate breastfeeding among their network of influence.

You'll get to see the composition of ambassadors as varied since they are not all mothers. The most familiar was the husband and wife chefs Rolando and Jacqueline Laudico since I've blogged about many of their restaurants already and have met them personally in several occasions. Who doesn't know Philippine Red Cross Chairman Richard "Dick" Gordon - the guy has ran for President before, and was very popular as the head of Subic before. Singer Sitti, the Queen of Bossa Nova, was also among the advocates whose great photo showed how vibrant she really is as a person. I was blessed to have the opportunity to take a picture of restaurateur Bianca Elizalde beside her photo which clearly shows how glamorous she is. I loved both journalist Nina Corpuz and her adorable baby on their photo. The Hizon family portrait looked really good as they were all dressed in white (just like the rest of the advocates at their photo shoots) and shows how happy they are. Asian Dragon Editor in Chief Apa Ongpin stands proud in support of breastfeeding, as well as the other gentlemen and ladies belonging the group.

Good luck to LATCH for this advocacy and hopefully many eyes were opened by the photo exhibit campaign. It's about time we realize the importance of breastfeeding and that there is no powerful enough breastmilk substitute that can totally replace the significant advantages that breastmilk gives to our children.
