2015 marks a significant milestone in the printing industry: it is the fifth anniversary of the world’s first branded ink tank system printers since they first launched in Southeast Asia. Introduced in 2010 by Epson, the L-Series ink tank system printers have successfully helped businesses and home users enjoy unsurpassed lowest printing costs while the range progressively added and upgraded models with increasing performance and features. To date, over two million Epson ink tank system printers have been sold in Southeast Asia alone.
To celebrate the fifth anniversary and success of the L-Series in Southeast Asia, Epson has refreshed the entire range with six powerful models that bring significant performance improvements to the series. In addition to improved ISO print speeds, the new range includes the L655 flagship model which is the first ink tank system printer with Epson’s advanced PrecisionCore business printing technology, allowing it to achieve high ISO print speeds.
“The Epson L-Series was specially designed for Southeast Asia, and its great success over these past five years affirms its popularity among the over two million customers in the region who have bought it since its launch,” says Epson Southeast Asia’s Managing Director, Toshimitsu Tanaka. “We will continue to improve the L-Series while committing to provide the world’s lowest printing costs it has become famous for,” he concludes.
Key Features
Improved ISO speeds – The models in the new range are capable of high ISO print speeds of up to 9.2ppm black and 4.5ppm color, as well as high draft print speeds of up to 33ppm black and 15ppm color. In the case of the L655, its PrecisionCore printhead allows it to print at very high ISO print speeds of up to 13.7ipm. The improvement in print speeds increases the productivity of the L-series, and better-matches its high volume printing capability.
Unsurpassed lowest printing costs – Since the L-series’ launch five years ago in Southeast Asia, it has been unsurpassed in providing the lowest cost per page of printing black and color combined. Each bottle of ink costs only P295, and each set has an ultra-high yield of 6,500 pages for color or 4,000 for black. In particular, as of 10 April 2015, the L655 has the lowest duplex printing cost[3].
Ultra high performing and reliable Epson Micro Piezo printhead – The Epson L-Series printers were created utilising Epson’s multi award-winning Micro Piezo technology. Highly reliable and more durable than competing thermal printhead technology, Micro Piezo printheads are built into the printer and are capable of printing high volumes. This allows the L-Series printers to achieve a low running cost while still providing high quality prints. The Micro Piezo printhead achieves a maximum print resolution of 5760x1440 dpi and its variable size droplet technology (VSDT) allows the printhead to eject ink droplets in multiple sizes, ensuring the greatest detail and extremely smooth gradations in documents or photographs.
Print wirelessly from mobile devices and the cloud with Epson Connect – The new L-Series models with Wi-Fi connectivity allow users to print and scan wirelessly from their mobile devices. The L365 and L565 support Epson Connect, which is a suite of mobile printing solutions that includes Epson iPrint, Epson Email Print, Remote Print Driver and Scan to Cloud[4]. Third party mobile printing solutions, Apple AirPrint, Google Cloud Print and Mopria Print Service, are also available for the L565 and L655.
L220 – The L220 is the most affordable all-in-one model of the new L-Series. It is capable of print speeds of up to 27ppm (draft) and 7.0ipm (ISO) and provides an excellent option for users who require basic scanning and copying capabilities, as well as the high volume, low-cost printing experience the range is famous for.
L310 – The L310 is a single function printer that features high print speeds of up to 33ppm (draft) and 9.2ipm (ISO) which makes it ideal for users who just intend to print high volumes at faster speeds while enjoying cost-savings.
L360 and L365 – These two models are high-speed multi-function L-series printers with speeds of up to 33ppm (draft) and 9.2ipm (ISO). They can perform print, scan and copy functions. The L365 offers Wi-Fi connectivity and supports Epson iPrint, Epson Email Print and Remote Print Driver, enabling users to use the printer wirelessly or through the internet with their computers or mobile devices.
L565 – Ideal for small businesses that need comprehensive connectivity, the L565 combines the high-speed, high-volume, low-cost printing capability of the L-Series with a 30-sheet ADF (automatic document feeder) that allows multiple pages to be copied or scanned without needing users to attend to the job. Finally, it features both wired Ethernet and convenient Wi-Fi connectivity options, including Wi-Fi direct that allows up to four devices to connect without a router. When connected to a network with internet connection, it supports Epson Connect, a suite of mobile printing solutions that include: Epson iPrint, Epson Email Print, Remote Print Driver and Scan to Cloud. It also supports third party mobile printing solutions, Apple AirPrint, Google Cloud Print and Mopria Print Service.
L655 – Designed to be the ultimate small business all-in-one ink tank system printer, the L655 is the flagship model of the new L-Series. In addition to comprehensive connectivity features like Ethernet, Wi-Fi, Wi-Fi direct and Epson Connect, it is also the first ink tank system printer to utilise an Epson PrecisionCore printhead which allows it to print at speeds up to 13.7ipm, making it the fastest L-series in the range. The L655 features automatic duplex printing capability to further reduce paper wastage and printing costs. It is the first L-Series model to feature a combination of inks that allows users to print black and white printouts that are water and smudge-resistant, and also lab-quality glossy photos when printed on photo media paper. Like the L565, the L655 also has a 30-sheet ADF and supports Epson Connect as well as third party mobile printing solutions.
