A Big Bravo for a Triumphant Preview of The Normal Heart

Wazzup Pilipinas!

HIV, usually labelled as God’s punishment upon homosexuals, is now infecting us at a rate of 22 people a day but is still largely ignored because it is looked upon as a “fringe” disease that affects only gay people.

What are we doing about it?

Commendable are the people behind the Actor's Actors Inc.'s The Necessary Theater for coming up with the critically acclaimed masterpiece such as activist Larry Kramer's The Normal Heart. Bart Guingona, it's director and lead actor, cannot deny that it is sensitive and timely material that is not easily accepted by the masses since many are still closeted and are fearful of coming put and be prosecuted.

Can love remain resilient even in the face of something as permanent as death? Should love be the one to initiate a strengthen effort to pursue our rights to receive immediate health care and solution from the government.

Do we deserve the engagement and cooperation of every journalist out there? Or is this disease still considered as marginalized to the community of queers, that it is forever downplayed.

The entire cast of The Normal Heart
The Normal Heart by Larry Kramer is a very timely play after the recent declaration that same-sex marriage is now deemed legal by the US Supreme Court.

When something is very wrong, we often shout out loud and strong, incensed with a sense of justice. We cannot stop ourselves, even if it means screaming it in the face of whoever we feel is the evil-doer.

I just wish we do not attack the individuals afflicted with the disease for they just want to be in the arms of someone wh...o would love and accept them regardless of their sexuality.

AIDS or HIV exists in our world but only a few are motivated to come out because they are afraid of being judged and prosecuted.

Refuse to go quietly into the night. The rage must be there. Ever stronger to come out.

There are so many things we still need to do and there are so many fights we still need to win. Let our fiery temper persuade thousands, if not millions, to protests against this seemingly hidden epidemic.

AIDS is still decimating us and we still don't have protection under the law.

You have to watch this play if you are concerned about all our brothers, and sisters, that are part of the LGBTQ community.

The most sincerest kiss between two hearts that at as one
The Normal Heart by Larry Kramer press preview last night made me really sad and angry at the same time.

AIDS infection rates aren't falling and there's still no cure, even as diseases like Mers Cov or Ebola grab headlines. It has been 35 years yet not too many are significantly talking and doing something about this plague called HIV or AIDS. We still don't have as much to fight it as we should have. Right now AIDS is worse than ever before.

This must-see, multi-awarded play by Larry Kramer was selected as one of the 100 greatest plays of the 20th century by the Royal National Theatre of Great Britain and is the longest running play in the history of the New York Shakespeare Festival's Public Theatre. It is for everyone because we all need to get involved.

Advance congratulations to the cast and organizers of The Normal Heart!

The Normal Heart is set to open on July 3 (Fri) 8pm with succeeding limited performances on July 4 (Sat) 3pm & 8pm; July 5 (Sun) 3pm & 8pm at the Carlos P. Romulo auditorium, RCBC Plaza, Makati City.

Not to spoil the show's highlights, I just decided to upload a small portion of the tearful but bittersweet ending. Enjoy!
