19th Philippine International Hot Air Balloon Fiesta: Flying High at Clark Field Pampanga
Wazzup Pilipinas!
"The Philippine International Hot Air Balloon Fiesta is the longest-running sports aviation event in Asia. Also known as “A Weekend of Everything That Flies,” it is attended by hundreds of thousands of Filipinos and international travelers daily during the 4-day event located in the Diosdado Macapagal International Airport grounds in Clarkfield, Pampanga.
The amazing aerobatic shows, fly-bys, colorful hot air balloons, and the thousands of people partaking in the festivities will produce an amazing backdrop for journalists, hobbyists, and professional photographers.
More than just a spectator event, PIHABF is a gathering of aviators from the Philippines and the world.
What began as a passion project has now evolved into the longest-running sports aviation event in Asia. The fiesta’s longtime objective is to instill discipline in participating young pilots so they can develop into safe aviators, as well as to impart a spirit volunteerism and cooperation to the whole community.
The fiesta is an opportunity to share and exchange cultures and traditions with visiting pilots from all over the world. They are given a taste of Filipino hospitality and the fiesta spirit. We hope that their beautiful experience becomes the best advertising for Philippine tourism. We also encourage the visiting pilots to be contributors to chosen beneficiaries of the foundation.
By creating aviation awareness, educating the young about flying machines and encouraging people to work from the heart and do things with passion, we will strive to bring back the Philippine aviation industry’s good standing in the international community."
This will be my first time to attend such event since I've always been having conflicting schedules and obligations back here in Manila. This is why I am grateful to Yahoo Philippines for sponsoring a media tour of this one week event that will start on February 12 at the Diosdado Macapagal International Airport, Clark Air Base, Pampanga.
Though we will only be there on the first day, I believe that will be quite enough to be able to capture amazing photos for my blog and social media accounts especially Flickr.
I will tell you more stories and of course photos of these amazing hot air balloons of all shapes, colors and sizes. I'm actually excited because this is the day when we travel to the said destination. Too bad we won't be there as early as when they inflate the balloons but seeing hem up in the air is already a wonderful sight to behold.
You still have several days to catch up and see them majestically up with the clouds so come on over to Pampanga for the 19th Philippine International Hot Air Balloon Fiesta.

Very interesting! I really wish i could see them but due to hevy schedule we have in our school, we can't.
ReplyDeletei want to ride on a hot air balloon but i'm quite scared... so i just want to watch them fly up in the sky..
ReplyDeleteI really wanted to attend this event. Even though I wouldn't be able to ride any of those hot air balloons, at least I've got to see them live. But unfortunately, school is very busy even on weekends so I decided not to. But I'm looking forward to seeing it next year, yes, hopefully. Well, anyway, good job to the writer. You've explained so well that this festivity in not just for fun and entertainment but also is for a good cause.
ReplyDeleteOne of the things I really want to see in person is the hot air balloon. When I was a child every time I am seeing those huge balloons in movies, I feel very happy. If only I knew that there was an event like this, maybe my family and I were able to see and capture those hot air balloons.
ReplyDeleteI wish that I could also witness this festival someday. :) I really like to experience riding a hot air balloon someday because it's not an event in which we can take for granted. :) I hope that there would be another hot air balloon festival next year so my family and I can participate.
ReplyDeleteI wish i coild go there. It looks fun and exciting.
