Wazzup Pilipinas!
So happy to experience the Parade of Nations which is just a teaser of the upcoming big event featuring our very own Mary Jean "MJ" Lastimosa representing the Philippines in this prestigious beauty pageant that will be witnessed by the world on its coronation night.
Yes, that's 88 of the world's most beautiful women that gracefully descended on the city of Miami to compete in the annual Miss Universe 2015 competition.
The City of Doral in Miami-Dade County knows how to throw a parade - The Central America style! The parade featured a feast of sights and sounds as we witnessed marching bands and a variety of luxury cars showcasing the Miss Universe contestants. Local restaurants also held a gastronomic festival and multicultural dances for the enjoyment of everyone.
The participation of the Miss Universe candidates in the cultural parade during the celebrations of nations was an opportunity for the people to gaze at the beauties representing their respective countries. The an afternoon of live music, dancing, food carts, and mingling, was an opportunity.
All candidates were all smiles on the way to each float, and became more adorable while waving to the huge crowd during the parade itself. Miss Philippines is undeniably a head-turner as many admired how amazing she looks, especially up close and personal. We have a winner here, Philippines!
MJ Lastimosa was one of the most applauded delegates with the help of many Filipinos who showed up to support the event. Who wouldn't be attracted to the colorful floats and the many gorgeous women that will soon compete for the title of Miss Universe of 2015.
The Miss Universe website describes MJ Lastimosa as "... a beauty queen with an unwavering passion for charity and public service. Born in a war-torn province with political insurgencies, she learned the values of courage and became determined to excel in academics. Her surroundings did not stop her from pursuing her passion for dancing, music and performance arts. This also inspired her to work under the city government to work on education and child welfare projects. She took on the challenging course of Computer Engineering with the help of three scholarships and graduated with flying colors. Faith brought her to a different path and led her to be a successful entrepreneur and a beauty queen."
The city of Doral is located in north-central Miami-Dade County, Florida, United States. Conveniently located just one mile from Miami International Airport and twelve miles from Downtown Miami. Doral is renowned for its progressive municipal government that promotes environmentally sustainable policies, citizen involvement, beautifully maintained streetscapes, and rich green spaces. The City has been named Tree City USA for five consecutive years and received top honors in the state of Florida for its Parks & Recreation Department in 2014.
The 63rd annual Miss Universe pageant was supposed to be held last year but didn't push through as announced by the co-owners of Miss Universe Organization (MUO) Donald J. Trump and the NBC, together with MUO president Paula M. Shugart.
The preliminary competition, which includes evening gown, swimsuit and the interview rounds, will take place on January 21, 2015.
I hope to enjoy as well my experience attending the dress rehearsal and finals on January 25, when Venezuelan Miss Universe 2013, Gabriela Isler, will hand over her crown on the 63rd annual Miss Universe pageant that will be held at the FIU Arena at 11200 SW 8th Street of Miami, Florida.
We are cheering out loud for our country representative that we believe stands a great chance to bring home another glory for the Philippines. Incidentally, we've heard that our very own Pambansang Kamao, boxing champion and Saranggani congressman Manny "Pacman" Pacquiao will be joining the panel of judges.
The Filipinos are all the way supporting the pageant especially that Enrique Iglesias, who is half Pinoy since her mother is from Cebu, will also be performing at the coronation night of the Miss Universe.
For MJ Lastimosa, where else can you find both beauty and brains, coupled with kindness and compassion for kids, as well as the love for the arts? We believe we have a sure winner for the Miss Universe crown. Mabuhay ang Pilipinas!
